Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Hey horngeek? What would it mean having a manse in the glog thread? Would it collect plot type events, enemy attacks, and such?
And how would it affect the ghosts? Would it suck away all their mana?My avatar! Isn't it just utterly diabolical? Ashen Lilies made it!

New character! Essentially, Kim from Scott Pilgrim, after spending a few years as a zombie hunter. Shall be fun.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Right.
A Manse is a structure of some sort, built to harness the energies of a demense (place of power, basically).
This would form a gem called a Hearthstone, which would have beneficial effects for the bearer (which I'll determine when it's actually built). The manse itself normally has special features as well.
It would NOT suck energy from the ghosts. Karen doesn't build Manses of that type. Wood-aspected manses don't do that, anyway.
Plawt stuff... maybe. The building itself wouldn't provide any, but it WOULD be a valuable location. On the other hand, a lot of its features would only be able to be used by either the Hearthstone bearer, or (if Karen gives it this functionality) people who know the password.
I'd have to do some thinking on what, exactly, it would be able to do. This would be a mid-level Manse.
I could take it several ways. It could restore a lot of the functionality of the old GLoG. Or, it could be a simple grove which provides kewl benefits.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
I kind of like our campground setting without having one main building, but other players may feel differently.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
I'd take a vote on this, then.
What form should the Manse take?
The options are:
Building restoring most of the functionality of old GLoG, although with a different feel (elementals instead of the robots, for examples).
OR
A grove of some sort. Not habitable in and of itself, but could still provide potentially major benefits to GLoG.

You mean a manse isn't a type of cheese?

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
I'd suggest making it a little way off from the main camp, to make it a distinct location and not part of the Main Lodge-Infirmary-Lakeside area.
Maybe on the little island in the lake? Or maybe on the far side of the lake, requiring a ten minute hike around the lake to get to it from the main camp? Or if you read the detailed description in the OP, you might find something that tickles your fancy. My avatar! Isn't it just utterly diabolical? Ashen Lilies made it!

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Why would you want Resonance? O.o
The last time a character had Resonance in ACRO, GLoG ended up becoming a shadowland!
@HT: To be honest, I was planning that anyway.
Mainly because if the campsite was the site of the manse, Karen would have to rebuild the entire thing according to geomantic principles.
But it would look pretty!

I always thought it was something that occurred when harmonics got wacky. There should be all sorts of Resonance at NexusStock.

He hasn't even considered what a crow or a weasel or a snake might have to offer, and here he is closing those doors forever.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
On Raz's world, familiars are much less of a big deal. More like servants. You can have several, and get rrid of them with no issue.
Hilarity ensues

If Katie were not-scatterbrained enough to notice what's going on, she might warn him about how permanent that kind of bond will be. And how deeply it will affect both of them.
Too bad she's not...well, anyone else's character, actually. <.<;

The paddleboats and canoes could do with some more use. Just would need to build a dock on the island.
