Part of me wonders whether I should dredge Keld back up from the swampy pits of deadtime. Rescue Teb, or something.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Hi. I'm new-ish. Long time RPer in vaguely freeform environments, new to FFRP in Nexus. I've taken the liberty of filing a character already, and think I did fairly well with him. I'll admit he's a self insert (of a sort), but would like opinions on power level. I do believe a +7 Elemental Burst (Acid, Cold, Elec & Fire burst enchants) Keen Adamantine Longsword isn't so bad when it's only a +3 Elemental Adamantine Longsword most of the time.
My aim was an approximately level 15 character with the gear given, with his Gestalt Abilities and Epic Level stuff hidden behind seals that only break when Party Member Death is imminent. So when something really bad is going to happen to someone he cares about, he goes One Winged Angel.

He'll live, if that means anything.
Also, Welcome New Person! We don't worry too much about character levels around here, so long as you can play nice with others. So... don't try to completely obliterate anyone on the first day.
And now, I need sleep. Goodnight Nexus!Last edited by Artemis97; 2010-10-20 at 12:47 AM.

Oh Dyth, make sure to read the guidelines in post 3 of the FFRP Central thread, if you haven't already.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
I read the various spoilers (nothing I wasn't already aware of, to be honest) and am now idling as I consider options to start. How crazy is TOWN? Population wise, I mean. How far out would a anthropomorphic cat stick? If its not at all I do believe I have an introductory post, though I may have to start a new thread.
Edit: and I play well, I just want some feed back on approximate power levels. I don't want to be ridiculously awesome.Last edited by NineThePuma; 2010-10-20 at 02:22 AM.

Anthropomorphic cat? I think we have... several billion of those. Minimum. So yeah, pretty conspicuous.

That's what I thought. =D
Now some stupid punk can try to jump the 'under armed' cat cause the Anthro doesn't have 'futuristic' technology.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Technically Raz is very strictly defined by crunch. I just didn't bother writing it down :p

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Emily has crunch, but it's pretty loose, and understanding it would require SO much knowledge of various things.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Crunch is useful shorthand if two characters come from the same set of mechanics--cuts down on tedious exposition when you can just say one phrase and have people look up what pages it implies on their own time. Problem is, most people here don't share mechanics.
Somewhat, but then I remembered I've watched people who were doing this sort of thing for real stakes, and how they were neutralized. Then I sat there and laughed loud enough to rouse Dio and order me to tone down the triumphing. I've ridden the shoulders of giants, baby. Shoulders of giants. I would love to have Tzimfemme call down the loas of life against the good doctor Stroffelnburg, but frankly there's a plot unfurling there and it takes precedence. Still, once that's over and if you're bored, tap me on the shoulder.Last edited by Quincunx; 2010-10-20 at 08:57 AM.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Some villains seek nothing more than the complete and total annihilation of the entire multiverse. Some villains are omnicidal maniacs who would see all crushed and burned within their wake. Others were once heroes, who went too far and fell into darkness.

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
Crunch isn't really all that bad if one wants to find a good way to quantify character power. I occasionally crunch my RP characters just so I have benchmarks to better play them. It's just how I do things.
Also, seeing as I have not been active in the Nexus for a bit of a while, I'm thinking of trying to break back in. Is there anything going on that could use a kindly fey/black market mechanic/childlike harlequin/person with a shotgun and mild anger issues?

Re: Nexus OoC IV: We're All Mad Here
This. Even if I never use the crunch again, I like to have it for a bench mark early on. I enjoy fluffing things. I just have more fun fluffing crunch. Building a character is more fun when you gather disparate elements and fuse them.
Nine, for example, is built using the d20 system, but has influences from a great many of my prior RPs. And I will admit that he's incomplete right now. I mostly want a look at how he seems now so that I know how to scale and tweak his balance.
Edit: And it's worth noting that if it uses a D20 and I can make it work, I'll combine stuff, at random.Last edited by NineThePuma; 2010-10-20 at 01:49 PM.
