As you reload, you see a volley of arrows come your way. [Reflex Save Failed.] An arrow grazes your left arm. [Take 1 Damage.]

Palisades
The goblin horde draws nearer and nearer to the walls. Many shock troops have fallen, but that is their job. The rate at which they make it past the river alive is increasing fast. There are a few points where missed catapult fire has created shallow fords in the river.

A group of humanoids forms up, carrying wide wooden planks. They charge, holding the planks over their head, to shield themselves from archer fire. They make their way toward the dancing lights spell south of the main street bridge. A mangonel fires a pot which lands below the lights, and explodes into a billow of thick white smoke.

Over the bridge itself, the anticipated cavalry charge finally comes. Timed almost to perfection, several clay pots are fired from friendly mangonels. Some spill out a thick black liquid, some create smoke, and others are full of what is clearly alchemist fire. The initial charge is broken up, and the second charge comes in. As the two groups clash, the bridge is a sight of hectic confusion, and frenzied horses. Only a few cavaliers manage to skirt the confusion and even some of their horses lose their footing on the black goup and fall into the river. The ones that make it to the end of the bridge are quickly dealt with by the pikemen waiting for them.

A few of the enemy ballistas are set up and begin firing. [Spot Success!] The nearest ones appear to be about 200 ft away. Many are under cover of smoke, but the wind dissipates it quickly constantly exposing one or another.

Your arrow strikes a gobin as he begins cresting the hill below the palisades. His body falls back and rolls down the hill, tripping up part of the platoon behind him. One ballista bolt whizzes by your head, while another strikes the tower to your north. It strikes with a loud crash.

North Flank
Two clerics of Ilmater stand behind the humans' defensive line. As the first wave of goblins retreats, an opportunity opens up for one of the clerics to rush up and provide aid to some of the conscripts. A few civilian volunteers accompany them, dragging unconsious and wounded soldiers away from the front. The other cleric joined up with his fellow triad members to provide them aid. As Deklin yanks out a spear that is lodged deep in his leg, the cleric utters a brief prayer and lays a healing hand on his wound.

The goblins ranks have thinned out slightly, only to be reinforced 3 fold. The ranks of the human defenders are likewise thinning. Many conscripts and volunteers are dead, wounded, or demoralized. Evan is now halfway down the hill fighting an entire squad of goblins. Deklin is just over the crest of the hill, fighting about half a squad, with another full platoon bearing down on him. Lady Elizabeth is at the top of the hill. She and one cleric of Ilmater are standing in the center of what is otherwise a gaping hole in the humans' defenses. They appear to be the main focus of a squad of goblins making a mad dash up the hill.

The goblin ducks your swing. While you are off balance, many goblins swarm in around you and begin frantically stabbing with their only remaining javelins. Even the ones that are able to find a chink in your metal body cannot seem to hammer home enough damage to phase you.

The cleric of Ilmater heals your wounds. [Recieve 11 HP of healing!] You then bring swift judgement upon the nearest goblin, who is about 10 ft down the hill. the other 4 goblins near him begin jabbing their javelins at you, but only find your shield.

You loose a crossbow bolt and drop another goblin. [Reflex Success!] As another volley of arrow fire comes your way, you take cover behind a nearby barricade.

The first wave of goblis is almost completely decimated, but reinforcements are on the way.

Palisades
As the last few platoons of shock troops draw near, you can see that they are begining to coalese as each platoon loses conscripts. Advancing troops can be frequently seen salvaging javelins and flasks off of downed soldiers, the looters appearing to have been sent into battle unarmed. The troops that draw near to the walls are a mixture of humans, goblins, and a smattering of other races. At a few different sections of the wall a smoke stick is set off, where another troop props a ladder against the wall. (One of these sections is Aramil's.) At every section there are at least one or two troops throwing alchemist fire.

The nearest siege engine is an Oxybeles. As the smoke thins, you take your shot, hitting it head on. The prod breaks off, and the frame splits into several pieces. Your bolt continues through the chest of the operator and lodges in the ground, pinning him there and leaving a gruesome sight for the advancing regular legions to see.

Evan is now completely surrounded by goblins. He towers over them, and you can see that they are sofar unable to hurt him. Their numbers, however, continue to grow. Lady Elizabeth is just slightly ahead of the breech, with many goblins closing in on her. Deklin remains in the center of the breech, attacking any goblins that come his way, but half a squad run straight past him, since he is only one man.
