Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
Well, I think that the two of them can be confused sometimes.
Edit:
But, to be clear, I don't condone that sort of thing.
Ever.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
I don't know their stuff very well, but I've been lead to believe that Bolt Thrower is THE Warhammer metal band. They have album artwork and stuff provided by Gamesworkshop.
And thank you, I really, really like The New Keepers of the Water Towers.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
Thanks for making me double-check Bolt Thrower. I actually thought that their 40k-related material was only from "Realm of Chaos". Turns out it the theme bled into their third album, and then intermittently from then on.
And yeah, New Keepers was definitely one of those gems in there. Nothing particularly new or innovative, but regardless, some damn good stoner metal.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
I would like to congratulate Whoracle and his bandmates on their album, I finally got the chance to listen to it (repeatedly) and I must say, it's got a sort of unique feel to it, and is rapidly rising towards being my current favorite band.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
I've got some early recordings of three of the new tracks somewhere around here... I'll see if I can find them this weekend.
Still no word on that. We're trying to get a guitarist for the tour right now.
As always: I'll keep you posted.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
Not really a fan, but with very few exceptions, I'm not usually fond of industrial or its subgenres. I don't know why; when I first heard about it, I thought it would be awesome, and I love the idea of it, but none of the industrial I've heard has really caught my interest.

*listens*
Well. That was bloody awesome. You guys sort of remind me of Winterhorde. Although I have no idea why...
But Industrial Metal is awesome! It combines Industrial with Metal... Not even Psyclon Nine?

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
As I've mentioned quite a few times, I prefer my metal preformed by a couple of unwashed drunks. That said, Psyclon 9 is pretty fun, although I don't really think of 'em as metal... metal influenced, certainly, but so's Huoratron, and no one calls him metal...
Metal thread should listen to Huoratron. Huoratron's a badass.Last edited by Moff Chumley; 2011-03-27 at 08:12 PM.

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
In Flames were good, up until Clayman. After that, they became a completely different, terrible band. Still, I've found their newer work to be good for introducing people to metal.
Soilwork, on the other hand, has a decrease in quality in their later works, although not as severe as In Flames, and The Panic Broadcast was a sign that they may be turning their band around.Step 1: Get workers to make goods for you.
Step 2: Sell the goods for a higher amount than what you pay the workers.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
See I haven't listened to the Old Stuff much, but I like Clayman. I should really get around to getting some of their older albums.
And no, their newer albums are not good ways to get people into metal. They are bad albums and are ... just bad music in general. Except maybe 2-3 songs. Honestly, if I'm going to introduce someone who's never listened to metal before I'm going to start with Classic Metal (Iron Maiden and Dio are my #1 choices) and then probably through in some generic Hard Rock (the song that won me over to metal was Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed).

Re: Metal Thread V - Defenders of the Faith
I bought the new Amon Amarth cd yesterday, and I'm really liking it so far. I don't own any of their other albums though, so I can't make any comparisons, but if they all sound like this, I'll probably have to go buy some more. And I really like their cover of SOAD's Aerials. That was one of my favorite songs growing up and I think they did a really good job of playing it as a melodeath song.
