Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (8/21 players)
I may regret this- the amount of games I am committed to may merge together, the weight of them all punching a hole in space/time and becoming a localized Wolf-ularity that vaporizes me in an instant- but I'm in.
I read the last game from when it got to the 2nd thread, so I have a pretty good idea what's up.
Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.

I'll also motion for dropping the no editing rule. I'm not sure what it adds aside from who's voting for whom confusion and unnecessarily inflicting my typos on people.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
Well, I wouldn't know from experience, but Sotek seemed to think he could find a way to abuse the removal of the law. Also, people review old posts frequently (or say they do), wouldnt the ability to rewrite your actions be a useful tool for sowing discord and confusion? Unless someone is keeping a perfect mental record of everyone's actions.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
The main way of finding scum in this game is by slips and mistakes they make, not to mention the abuse and secret message potential, so the no editing rules stays.
About time, day has a 48 hours "soft deadline", after that all deadline votes turn into real ones and you have 24 hours to lynch succesfully. So, 3 days is the maximum for a day. Nights will be 48 hours max.
Also, a small rule change to prevent abuse, the WW won't post the devour in the thread, but by PM or QT. Of course, I'll post his identity as normal (i.e. WW .......... has attempted /devoured ,,,,,,,,,, the role).

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (9/21 players)
The ability to "PM" if you are playing obsessively.
Like, I make a post where I say something, then a few minutes later edit it out - now only the guy who I knew was online was able to see it.
This is all the bad of PMming (which completely destroys this ruleset), with the added disadvantage that it favors people with more time, and the fact that there's nothing that can be done about it except trying to be just as obsessive.
Also, if I ever get in an argument, I can go back and edit anything that would undermine my position. Ewwww.
Anyway, moot now. But also: I have a SECRET TALLYING TECHNIQUE that will go beautifully for as long as I stay alive.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
But it requires two people to be obsessively playing, and nobody else. Like Murska said last time, there was a game in which he posted something, edited it a minute later, and still got called on it. If you're relying on nobody else paying attention, it'll probably come back to bite you anyway.
As for editing your own arguments, that's why people quote them. You can't edit their quote, and if you edit your own post you can't prove whether or not they changed the quote when they posted it.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
All I have to do is wait for someone to be *on* to initiate it. It only requires me being obsessive and profile-stalking other players or whatever. I have done in that in witchhunt games in the past, and it's a habit I'm glad to have dropped. I don't want to pick it back up, but I totally would if I thought it'd help me win.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
So...why not just make a rule against editing your posts for reasons like that? The no pming rule already operates on the honor system unless I'm mistaken.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
Because "no pmming" is a bright line and relatively easily enforced - there's never a question of if a PM is a PM or not, only if it'll get mentioned - but the simple fact that you can't really be sure means you won't do it at all. "no editing" is as well, and even more easily detected, but "no editing for THESE reasons but editing for those reasons is okay" is ... awkward, and almost guaranteed to have borderline cases.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (10/21 players)
I'm down for no editing. We can all forgive some typos, and it's not like this game is built around speed. Plus, I'll need all the evidence I can get my hands on if I'm going to newb my way to any deductions.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (12/21 players)
Can we run this deal with any less than 21? Recruitment seems a little low... or are we waiting on some other games to let out? Just curious if the game is in danger, or we just have a wait ahead of us.

Re: Witchunt V1.0 Game 3 (12/21 players)
Both of the witchhunts here previously had a similar recruit rate and filled up eventually.
It *can* run short of 21, but I think 21 works out pretty well.

Consider me relieved. I'm terribly excited, I keep finding myself considering different strategies from every possible role and angle. My anxious anticipation is making it hard to be patient.

We ran the first game with only 17, right? I think that worked pretty well if we can't get the 21.
