Nah. We know GLaDOS has never lied to us ever. And she certainly seems too emotionally honest and stable to start just to conceal some sort of "weakness" from someone she might care about and/or fear.

Who says you're seeing the bolt and not some after-effect of it passing by and heating the air or something?

On that note has anyone ever tried to measure the speed of the portal on any of the maps? There are some pretty long-distance portal shots in portal 2, so if they have any noticeable lag time relative to putting a portal on a close wall you might be right. To me it always seems to take exactly the same time to put a portal on a wall, regardless of distance, which would point to it traveling at light speed and just having a bit of a start-up lag (which works fine).

infact, when i played through i made sure to drop them on a side they couldnt scuttle off on when i needed them to stay on a button.

So, I finally got Portal 2 and got through to Chapter 5. I'm loving all the jokes so far! My favorites so far:

Wait, how do you aim them? Just drop them facing the direction you want them to go?

Yeah. When you pick them up, they will always automatically rotate to the same alignment (facing you, quivering in fear), and you can drop them and let them scamper off in the direction opposite the one you were facing. They won't scamper when they're on a button, but other than that it's fair game. Aim them to their doom.

Yeah, I had subtitles on for awhile but reading through the jokes isn't as much fun as listening to them.

I think the main problem with that bit was the loud noise wasn't loud enough, I wasn't remotely startled.
