The stinger joke was fantastic. "Oh no, however shall we find more horses to pull our carriage? Wherever shall we FIND them?!"

Though I'm disappointed that nopony pointed out that they could do it on their own.

The song...is catchy, but not the best song in the series. I think WWU or AotD win that award...though I can see why the staff would have fun with that song.

And naturally, their desired Gala activities weren't going to turn out the way they'd hoped...though there was a hope spot for each of them.

I dunno though...things just seem a little...rushed in this episode. I really wish they had a bigger time slot to expand upon things, but I guess that's not something they could get. And if they did, they'd probably wind up having to fill in some of that time with something else.

...Which is where a Cutie Mark Crusader short would come in handy. ._. Gaaaw that would've been awesome! Curse my brain for making an awesome scenario that makes the real scenario pale in comparison!

Ah well...there were still some good moments here. The gradual insanity explosion of Fluttershy was interesting...I imagine that all the Gala animals are not actually wild at all, but kept in cages for that specific night to be released, and that they aren't used to ponies like Fluttershy who actually want to get close to them. Poor Fluttershy not realizing that the Gala's special night was an orchestrated event.

Which is probably why Pinkie was so confused. I mean, if you saw a flyer for an event declaring it "The Greatest Party Ever, with everything you could imagine!", what would you expect?

It's no wonder she was so confused back in episode 3.

AJ's dreams were clearly dashed by the fact that there was a buffet table. Really, did any of these ponies do actual research into the Ga-oh right. No internet. They probably had no idea what to really expect.

Which is also what happened to Rarity, as we all guessed. So yeah, Prince Blueblood (Huh...so he's a prince? Maybe cousin would've been more accurate...but Faust's own admission is that he's a great relative of some sort...so maybe royal pony blood goes further than we think?) Anyway, Blueblood's a snob. I'm sure somepony guessed that. But my GOODNESS is he a massive snob. He doesn't even bother looking at food before he buys it? ._. That kind of snobbery takes effort.

...No one makes Rarity pay for a meal like Blueblood!

Yes, Blueblood = Gaston. Except a pansy. ._.

And no wonder Celestia wanted Twilight there that night. She has to stand there all night long and welcome guests? GOD that sounds boring. And Celestia can't even say that because she IS a goddess. D:

At the head, not the shoulder. The ponies are teensy tiny.
I'm also pretty certain their bodies are uniform, but Pinkie's hair proportions make her look a strange combination of chubby and petite. Consider, when her hair deflated, it would be obvious if she were chubby. Since it didn't jump out at you, it's not an actual visual difference.

I actually liked the song pretty much. It's not as 'catchy', but I'm a big sucker for chorale and orchestrated pieces, so it soared and felt majestic! I love that!

I felt a bit awkward at all the cast pushing their dreams so far, but it all flowed well, so that's just my own personal plot mongering combined with high empathy talking.

Other high points: Applejack pointing out that they don't wear cloths that much.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a sort ofcategorical list of what they've accomplished? I'd like to see, right now without trying, what a lot of you folks are sitting at "points-wise".

Also, GiTP has a friend/foe system I didn't notice. It also has a groups function? Where do I go to learn about the groups function? There should be a pony group.

You should have been expecting 'zero'

you can't make that assertion at all. Knowing what worked doesn't mean they will slavishly stick to a formula; that leads to stagnation. Rather, it means they can cut away what didn't work- which may very well be the catering to little girls part.

US showbussiness is... conservative. How many examples of stagnation do you want? Catering to little girls - well, we'd need to know the singular episodes ratings, but I kinda doubt main function of the show will be cut, especially seeing how other, bad shows also have similar ratings.

Silly Irbis. We only saw them 'fold on everything' they told us they folded on. Decorum requires not broadcasting private matters. When asked directly, Faust said "I wanted one thing, they wanted another. I didn't think it was important enough to fight over, so I let it go."

If the censor told her to cut this, how he won't object on more serious matters? Conversely, if Faust relents on this, how will she able to defend anything important? Yes, she has more capital now. But, seeing she agrees with censorship in many places, by announcing things she won't touch, I doubt she will use it. Maybe her individual writers will try to, but director who deliberately limits him/herself due to personal views is far worse than he/she could be.

On the contrary, you seem to advocate fighting tooth and nail on EVERYTHING, no matter how important or relevant. That's not pioneering, and thar's not making a good show. That's being a jerk, and if Faust had that sort of attitude, I doubt MLP:FiM would be as good as it is.

I just have seen effects of work of authors who do so. For one, if you fight over everything, you have far more room to move, as abandoning 50% of your fights on unimportant matters saves 50% of important stuff, while someone who fights over important matters only loses 50% of important things right off the bat.

There is moderation in everything, though.

We have good, fun episodes about compromise that make sense, because Faust is willing to compromise in a way that makes sense. There's a granularity where some things are worth the trouble, and others aren't.

Why would fightin be wonderful? It's not the fight, but what you fight for that matters. Some things aren't worth fighting over.

And just how do you draw the line? Writing isn't 1/0, every single thing cut due to censorship makes work worse. Ok, editors are important because they tell authors what will work, what won't, and how to improve - but I hardly consider dumbing down of the show making it 'work'.

What if they tell Lauren to change AJ's name (oh noes, alcohol!) to Applecute (because it will sell 12% more dolls) - will that be fighting over? What if they tell her to cut Rarity entirely - because her dolls don't sell? Who cares, right? You can tell a story without Rarity, right? :P

Also, the criticism of the first two episodes is that thy would have been better if they were more spread out. They had a rushed, time-is-short-for-production feel that brought the whole thing low.

Yeah, I guess so. Still... I liked Episode one more than most.

And I was consistent in my criticism of pacing, too, especially lack of two parters for episodes that demanded them. Lack of two parters is another example of executive meddling, BTW.

Viral advertising generates interest, sure. But viral advertisement and listening to vocal Internet opinion are entirely different; as different as speaking (advertising) and hearing (listening to net hype).

this is where you are missing a big portion of the human element. I can say for certain that, just because their job is 'unimportant' doesn't mean the top brass doesn't listen to them. I don't mean listen as obey, I mean listen as in take what they say into account.

Top brass? As in, who? Lauren? Maybe. But that's as high as it goes. And if she isn't going to fight over her own ideas, why she will over idea of some lackey, even if it was good?

Plus, Esper has a point - lower staff can have any ideas they want, they are deliberately limited in ability to deliver them if said idea doesn't belong to their job.

Any business which cuts out the voice of the ground floor workers tends to fare poorly compared to more empathic (or empathic seeming) companies.

I think nothing of this works, actually. It was sort of turned off haphazardly in hopes it will help during Big Server Crash in '08 and left off since then.

I really can't say much about the dub, since I can't understand a word of it. It seemed all right, but Pinkie Pie's singing voice needs work. On the other hand, Twilight and Applejack sounded pretty good.
