Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
Look at it this way: We know that nuclear weapons exist. However, if one single reporter says that, say, The Balkan Republic of Bessarabia has nukes... well, he's not going to be taken at face value.

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
But..we can totally SEE the twins. We can see them, on the table. And considering how..not good the effect was at the time, it would be LOADS more believabl to see them on TV. They'd look completly real, in a time when you couldn't modify stufflike that so well.
I'm not shocked no one said "why should we believe the fairies, monsters have attacked us before, this is just anothr monster!".

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
Point 1) You can see the giant egg. So it's not Balkan Republic has nukes it's "there was a nuclear explosion in the Balkan Republic; the nuke fairies say it was a rogue faction of their military". Still something to be suspicious of, but that's more of the nuke fairies. They know there's a giant egg.
Point 2) There's not just one monster, but dozens (I forget which continuity Gojira vs Mothra was in so the exact number might vary), it's a decent bet that the weird giant egg has something in it. And biologically speaking where there's an egg, there's a mother, and that mother is usually several times the size of that egg (unless it's a kiwi).
Point 3) Nuke fairies Gwyn that was awesome.Peanut Half-Dragon Necromancer by Kurien.

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
But the problem is that the twins are never shown speaking to anyone else! As far as we know only the reporter, his friends, and the audience see them, and everyone else takes his word on it. Just because bizarre things happen doesn't mean you can say any fantastical thing and have people believe you. I couldn't go into the Godzilla universe and report to the police that a giant banana had just mugged me. While it's certainly not impossible in that weird world, unless I have witnesses or it happens to somebody else there's no reason to believe that I'm not a raving lunatic. That's the problem with the twins. They appear to five people, and all of Japan just buys it somehow.

Just spent the afternoon planting ~300 lettuce plants. Something very rewarding about working in the dirt. I then made fish and grilled some potatoes while discussing film with the farm intern from France my grandparents have visiting. It was a great day.
End of line.

Huh, still on godzilla. Or possibly on godzilla again, who knows. I just know I can't contribute, since my experience with it as a whole is limited to a marathon they showed on sci-fi that one day while I was sick in bed and needed something to watch. Surprisingly helpful, when it comes down to it.
Also, had to take a moment to respond to this, from waaay back on page 22 (I should totally come around here more often...)
My only thought when I read this:

That's why you watch gameplay footage and try demos (if they exist, which they did for DA2) before you actually get the game to know if you should get the game.

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
Oh man. I woke up shivering today and it's like, late May. Lousy weather being silly.
Even worse, I'm still shivering while wrapped up in three warm woolen blankets. I swear the weather has just een deciding to mess with me since I started working at the ballpark.
...And now one of my cats has decided to climb behind my tv and start licking it.

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
Yha, Ku's got a point, I've been doing that since forever. Finally it's payed up and Thufir has payed attention to me *swoons*
In all seriousness, I tend to write what I say as if I was saying it, so things like "should of" tend to be added. And since I write like how I speak, it is as if I am writing dialoge, and the main rule of dialoge is that it doesn't always have to be right. That's if I recall correctly, at any rate.
Also, Coidzer, you might be sick.

Re: LaLa's Laughably Silly Random Banter Thread - RB #158
Yes, but they don't! In my house there are ant trails everywhere, and they crawl on me. Our cats have their food filled with it often. They seem to disregard tea tree oil and Borax and chalk, so they're really getting on my nerves. And they smell terrible once they get squished.
