I'm considering throwing my hat in to start getting into FFRP. I'll lurk a bit longer until

Name: Machanic
Race: Pegasus
Appearance: Yellow Pegasus with scruffy burgundy mane/tail wearing dark goggles over orange eyes.
Age: 25

Skills: Inventor and mechanist that specializes in the pointlessly elaborate. He believes in inventions that anypony can use, but often makes more traditional devices that channel a unicorn's specialized magic. This calling has also made first-aid a necessity..

Biography: Mach was only 15 and learning to work with the weather machines in his home town of South Zephyr when the Summer started. This all but demolished the city, and nobody really knows what happened to it in the end and those who stayed. Now on the ground, Mach and the other refugees tried to get by, Mach himself coming into his own as an inventor.

Years passed and Mach fell madly in love with one of the unicorns in his new home that didn't act all superior to everyone else. He... doesn't like to talk about her much. Eventually, Mach left the town and was swept into a few adventures with treasure hunters.

A few weeks ago the group discovered some very precious gems in some ruins. The magic in the gems turned the group on itself, and Mach decided to get out before something bad happened. Now he's loaded as much of the parts he's collected that he could drag and tried to find the nearest town... Bridle Shores!

Personality: Often boisterous and bold when around his sphere of talents. Inquisitive and often drives himself to exhaustion. Sometimes ends up sabotaging himself when getting closer to acquantanceponies without realizing he's doing it.

Relationships: New in town.

Since I haven't defined Aero Naught's magic beyond fueling his airship in an emergency, may I do so now? His spells are related to those strokes of luck that allow heroes to win the day. Water always turns out to be soft enough to break a fall, Every Car is a Pinto, stuff like that.

Edit: Deadtiming. And may I suggest that if Smoothie's plan to cure Gallant Garion works, that the spell making him Simmer takes on a separate life of its own? The 'Simmer' gets trapped in Smoothie's pocket dimension for a few days/weeks before escaping.

This is mostly because I really want to have a chance to do the counter-maneuver I've been planning on having Roy train for.

I've decided to hold off having Grills erupt Mt. Trotia until stuff happens. If I still have him or some other pony do it.

Or I could use a twist and not have to explode the mountain but that requires mindreading and Smoothie is the pin of enough plots as it it.

Grills is looking for somepony with enough clout to unify the Equestrian nobility before they start slinging epic spells at each other. He believes that pony is located either under Bridle Shores or in Mt Trotia.

Ah interesting. Although epic spells seem a little....Excessive for what their power levels should be.

Epic spells are more of a dramatic amplifier to use as motivation to not let this happen. It's not really epic spells as a bunch of rich jerk ponies with a lot of resources who dont care about collateral damage. It won't/can't get to that point anyway. Just an excuse to have nightmares of the post apocalypse.

Well normally the beams (8 Scorching Rays) wouldn't do much to Grills due to his really high fire resistance. But seeing as this is his 3rd battle without resting and his resistances should be waning due to exhaustion, he just lost a nice chunk of HP.

As for Soft and Grills' relationship, he is a regular customer and big spender. But you can make them as close as you want.
