Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
I'm referring to how he just kinda randomly figured out where Haley/Nale was. Any other window in the city and... Granted, checking Haley's room to see if she's okay would probably have been the first thing to do anyway.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
I just noticed that here Elan actually has a reason to use the Neutralize Poison spell he just learned.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
This might have been touched on already, I didn't realize it on the first or second readings. In this strip, Elan and Tarquin are having their debate over winning and losing. It suddenly occurred to me that this mirrors Roy's last debate/conversation with Xykon, who offered to let Roy go and come back to fight again. Roy objects, citing all of the people that Xykon will kill in the intervening time, and attacks. Only to die.
Elan makes the same objection to Tarquin, but chooses to run away.
To me, that was a test of both their character. As LG, Roy did the right thing, but for CG Elan, it's a bit more... ambiguous. Thoughts?

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Haha, I remember those arguments. I always liked that he made that spell choice from a character perspective anyway, but it didn't really register with me the first time that he was actually using it now.
I noticed that too, and I actually think they both made the right choices. Roy knew that he had to try to stop Xykon to have any chance of saving the Azurites (among others) who would otherwise die at Xykon's hand. Taking Xykon up on his offer would have ensured their deaths, so he had to try to fight.
When Elan takes up Tarquin's offer on the other hand, the situation is slightly different. Once Elan discovers that he can't defeat Tarquin, the best chance he had of saving the people that Tarquin threatens was indeed to retreat and regroup, and unlike at Azure City, there were no immediate casualties to be prevented by Elan forcing a fight that he couldn't win. The fact that his first thought after running away is to find Haley to get help in finding a way to defeat his father shows that his heart was in the right place.
So, I'd say Roy and Elan were both doing what they had to in order to have the best chance of protecting people from evil--in Roy's case, backing down had no chance of protecting anyone, but in Elan's case, it's continuing to fight that would have sabotaged future efforts to save people.HUMANS....... Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
#798: There should probably be a crack or hole formed by Roy's head between Thog and Ian in the penultimate panel (and maybe the last panel, too, now that I think about it), but there isn't.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
this isn't something I personally missed but it seems to be something a lot of people have missed. In 803 Mr Scruffy didn't knock the dog through a wall. He knocked him through a hole that was already there.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Yeah, took me a while to figure that one out. Then I had to go archive-searching to figure out where that hole came from. Tricky, as as far as I can figure, it didn't happen onscreen -- it's just the gigantic chunk Thog used to smash Roy in the face after yelling "STOP TALKING."

You can see the hole here: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0797.html it looks like Thog ripped the rock from the hole that Roy made

You can also see the edge of the hole in the top right of page 2 panel 6.
Also, in panel 9 the wolf is IN the hole, but there is no debris suggesting the hole was already there.

In the new one (803), Blackwing's eyes turn yellow when he's considering taking a shiny.
It might be too early to say "I never noticed that", but it's the kind of cool detail this thread is dedicated to.

I just noticed that the "reinforced ceiling" comment at the end of #276 was a callback to stone Celia.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
I just realized that V's solution to defeating Z is the same as Elan's escape from Cliffport prison. Use someonw with a completely different skill set.
Also I was just wondering if we saw any cliffs in Cliffport. . .If you find yourself watching Power Rangers and wonder how some characters got their powers and zords back for an anniversary episode, just assume they were restored off screen. They have 20+ seasons of team geniuses to call on.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
The ZIP code for the OOTS's plane is 00001, i.e. Mortal Plane #1, or another way to say "Prime Material Plane." At least I think that's what the intention was.
EDIT: Likewise, the IFCC's ZIP code (00999) seems to refer to 666 and/or the ninth (and deepest) layer of Hell/Baator. Just noticed that right after posting this.
EDIT2: The title of #462 is "Good Idea, Bad Idea," and it features a skeleton getting hurt. Sound familiar? Although, yes, I know it's referring to Soon's idea vs. Miko's idea.Last edited by Gift Jeraff; 2011-09-03 at 12:36 AM.

I just realized that the picture of the linear guild from #668 is from the Round 3 splash page from Dungeon Crawlin' Fools. You can even see part of the title on the cutout.
