Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
A sight with 4 of the spoiler videos ("Why don't you come and find out", "metalbenders" "passing the torch", and "firebending test") Looks like a radio site.

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
Okay, now that I can properly direct my thoughts:
Spoiler
"Why don't you come and find out"- I like how that waterbender guy reached into his coat as if he were pulling a gun. Adds a bit of flavor.
- I also like the other guy screaming like a little girl.
- The Bystanders almost ruined the scene. But "guy getting chucked through window" made up for it.
"Korra Leaving"
- Toph might still be alive. Just Sayin'
Firebending practice:
- This kind of reminds me of a fanfic I used to write about a firebender who more or less sucked at bending so relied more on hand-to-hand anyway.
Metalbending cops:
- They're metalbending cops.

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
The movie was a disaster (Both casting and storyline), they strip the story down
SpoilerEspecially the earth bending prisoners not on the ship to prevent earth sources.
At least they made Zuko an anti villain.
They should hire Peter Jackson instead of Shyamalan.Badly drawn helmet avatar drawn by me.

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
that's a tricky one for the authors.
if they make spirit Aang too serious/grown-up, people will hate him because "it's not him anymore".. if they make him too lighthearted and funny people will complain that a father/grandfather with a lifetime of being the Avatar behind him should be wiser or something like that (Boomie and Gyatso notwithstanding).. either way, hating the "new Aang" might alienate some people from the rest of the show. (depending of course on how often they'll show spirit Aang, which is another delicate choice to make..the story is about Korra..but can they just dump the previous generation? and how much of the dumping?)

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.
I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that. -- ChubbyRain

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
I seriously love this sentence, and I hate to even do this, but I actually have something better:
SpoilerIn a side comic somewhere, Sokka infiltrated the Fire Nation military by signing up for service under the name Wang Fire. While in boot camp/training he acquired some extremely valuable information, however he realized he hadn't thought this plan all the way through, as he learned he was unable to leave camp, because that would be deserting. A new plan had to be forged, and they decided to go with the most straightforward thing they could think of.
Private Wang Fire was killed in action defending his camp from waterbender and earthbender spies attempting to infiltrate the fire nation. His honorable and courageous sacrifice will never be forgotten. He was a hero to his people.
^This is canon.

The wiki page for Korra says they're planned for two seasons now. Did it get green-lit for another one?

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
Yeah, and it was lame back than too.
Also, not wanting to derail the thread, but I had a weird dream about some Captain Planet expy that instead of Heart, had the power to decapitate people by shooting rainbows at them. He was far more badass than regular, non-decapitate-people Captain Planet.

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
Here's a little speculation about Korra's weaknesses, and how I think Fire being her natural opposite still makes sense even though she uses it a lot in the scenes we can see.
Firstly, a number of people are saying that Korra is not seeing the spiritual aspect of bending, and that may be relevant to how we see her right now and the way she fights. We are told that Korra is a headstrong, assertive woman, and this is seen in her fights, with how she takes on her opponents with her raw power. What we don't see are the principals behind each of the bending art forms being applied. We don't see her adapting her fighting style much in reaction to her enemy (At most, she changes the element she bends to go head to head with her opponent.), which is the whole principal of waterbending, using an opponent's strength and energy against themselves. She doesn't seem to really apply the principal of Neutral Jing, it may have been the fast pace of the fight scenes, but it felt nothing like Toph's style of reactionary counters. We also do not see the emphasis on self-control that firebending teaches. Noted by how her firebending master (Maybe Zuko) comments on how she lacks restraint. In essence, she hasn't learnt the key lesson of each element, and used it's spiritual teachings on another element.
This is probably an attempt to further contrast Korra with Aang. Where Aang only started mastering each element after learning the principal behind each element. We see Korra's fighting style to not really be influenced by the teachings of each element. In the 3 seasons of Avatar, Aang not only incorporates each element to his fighting style as he learns them, but also bending in ways the parallel one element in another. This may also be the key teaching that Korra has to learn in order to fully master all of her elements and give her the power to truly harmonise her elements into the power of the Avatar.
Now, what about fire bending, going back to how she doesn't seem to have much restraint. Isn't that the fundamental skill in firebending? Self-control? In that sense she struggles with controlling the fire in an efficient proper manner, think of how she uses her fire in contrast to Azula, if she didn't have the raw power of the avatar, her stamina would have probably run dry pretty quickly. So Korra learning firebending may have resulted in a lot of Katara healing and fixing the buildings in the Tribe as she tries to master it. In fact, that may very well be one of the reasons why she trains her firebending in the Southern Water Tribe. Because any property damage (From fire blasts or wild fires) can be much more easier to repair than some place like Republic City or Ba Sing Se.

Re: Avatar the Last Airbender
So when's the premiere of the new series or has it not been announced yet? I don't watch Nickelodeon so I won't catch any of the commercials saying when it comes on.
