Don't feel bad about Lord Of The Rings, that's a VERY heavy book series to get into, and I personally never got much beyond The Hobbit itself. It's not that I didn't like it - I loved it.

Pretty much same for me. Never finished LotR, loved Hobbit, though.

They are most certainly talking about Santa's reindeer. I am not aware of any G3 ponies with the same names; Dancer, Donner, Dasher, Prancer. (Though there is a G2 Dancer.)

My first ever solid memory of computers was being shown the computer lab at my elementary school in the first grade. They told us about this awesome game where you type in numbers and directions, and you can make this little turtle move around and make pretty pictures!

But seriously though, I need to find a way to motivate myself to practice. When given the options of noodling around in vidya games versus making bad art, video games looks sooo nice. And then I make a turrble art and feel bad compared to the other artists out on the internet. It's so cliche, so very very cliche, but it's true. Le sigh.

I should ground myself until I draw more. Or start a thread on the art boards where I invite mockery upon myself unless I post at least one drawing a day. It's difficult to get the motivation to actually up and do something unless there's a direct consequence for not doing it. A real consequence, not just the "you don't get better if you don't practice" one. That's just status quo.

This just sounds so much like me. I started drawing pretty much the instant I could hold a crayon and continued right until I took art class at school.

That pretty much killed my enthusiam for it :(

Now I only draw occasionally, if I have something I want to do in mind. I get easily frustrated when things don't go as planned. If I practiced more, I'd likely be better and not have that problem. But I don't practice because I get easily frustrated. Catch 22.

That said, I am learning how to draw in Flash. Using plenty of reference images helps, and being able to tweak lines and colours of a drawing is heavenly. And it's ponies that inspired me to do it ^^ I'm working on a pony animation. Hoping to get it done in... oh let's say a couple of months :P

So, here's my personal view of the whole Gilda/Blueblood thing.


Gilda leaves for a while, but Rainbow Dash follows her, occasionally leaving Ponyville to talk to her. It's a long and arduous task, but she manages to turn Gilda nice and she never makes Fluttershy sad again.

It turns out Blueblood was hired by AppleJack to be a jerk to Rarity, to try and get Rarity to swear off Stallions forever so she could get her chance with Rarity. He objected at first, but was convinced Rarity/AppleJack was OTP.* He is in fact, very nice, though much more vain than Rarity. He eventually ends up with some nice background pony from Ponyville.

You know, the more friendshippy version.

*Based off of a comic.

Paying someone to ruin your best friend's day so you can get together with them is friendshippy? I see I have much to learn about this whole "friendship" thing.

Oh hey, Kai. There was a brief moment of internet drama but I'm pretty convinced all is right with the world, or can be made right just by wanting it bad enough. And besides, without internet drama where are we going to get inspiration for letters to Celestia? Dear Celestia: FEELIN' FINE is great and all, but she gets bored, and when she gets bored.

It did hurt like real life drama.

I've only ever given up on two books. I gave up on No Country For Old Men because it had no speech marks and this angered lixie.
And.... (and watch my credit go out of the window) Lord of the Rings. I just couldn't manage to get into it. I love the Hobbit and I like the films, but I got lost and managed to miss the battle of Helm's Deep. So Yeah.


You realise everyone would prolly assume the nice kids were horrible... sounds like this plotline has a moral and everything. Did anyone start writing it?

Yeah, the first part doesn't really go anywhere. Between that and the first third of The Dragonborn Chair (from Tad Williams Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn) I thought good epic fantasy had to have the pacing of continental drift. Fortunatley my mother read it to me as a kid, so I had good memories that motivated to keep on reading.

I have never been able to read more than 50 pages or so of Fellowship until I give up. I've tried about six times now. I've seen each of the movies once, when I was in high school, so I've forgotten everything that was in them that could spoil them anyway.

I gave up on Twilight (Stephanie Meyer) because I became angry at the vapid plot and terrible writing style. (I think I actually physically threw it out the window of our second floor condo..)

It just felt like running a mental marathon to read it after a while, and I wasn't the most patient kid when I first picked 'em up. Just never got around to finishing them.

I remember watching the LotR movies and being greatly surprised to remember the ending, before I saw it, even though I was certain I had never read the books. Apparently I did read it at some point, and utterly forgot about it. Same with the Hobbit, where I later read it and suddenly found myself reading stuff I recognized but couldn't remember reading before.

It's an odd feeling, and those two are the only stories I've ever experienced it with.

I never had great trouble reading either, though.

I spent a lot of time as a kid, playing with BASIC in my spare time. It was about the only thing my first computer could do... other than malfunction every time I deleted something important because I figured it was junk. I learned a LOT from deleting important things, and finding ways to get them back.

Gilda leaves for a while, but Rainbow Dash follows her, occasionally leaving Ponyville to talk to her. It's a long and arduous task, but she manages to turn Gilda nice and she never makes Fluttershy sad again.

I would kind of like to see some sort of reunion/redemption between Gilda and RD in season 2...but maybe that's wishful thinking.
