Re: Echo Bazaar
10 Casing, and it's called Thefts of Particular Character, you need to steal it off Feducci. You can't fail on Shadowy (I mean, you can, but only difference is that Casing will drop a bit more then if you succeed).

Re: Echo Bazaar
Thanks, I have it at 5 currently. How many antique mysteries does it give?

Re: Echo Bazaar
Not fully. It's all about the change points (CPs). When you get one Mystery you are down 40 CPs, which is somewhere around from 10 to 5 and a half in Casing.

Re: Echo Bazaar
Thanks, I've got 1 so far, though I got arrested. Is there a better way to decrease suspicion than prison?

Re: Echo Bazaar
I don't really think so. As for me, I just get arrested, and do the grind there. No big hassle.

Re: Echo Bazaar
That'swhat I'm doing too.Being arrested is good until you meet the repentant forger (met him mysecond time), after that its a grind that can slightly damage your stats. Getting a Prison Shiv is nice though.

Re: Echo Bazaar
It's almost always better to just grind out the Menace. Only time where it doesn't work so hot, is Nightmares, if you don't have a Memory of Light, because you lose all your dreams.

Re: Echo Bazaar
So, I've just started poking around in this game as well. So far, quite a fun little diversion. I like the writing. Might make a good game setting.

Re: Echo Bazaar
Hello fellow travellers! Could somebody tell me if there is any way to increase dramatic tension without going to that island where you lose it anyway.
Also how do I get blackmail material?
Thanks.

I got a card, which lead me to a newspaper, which lead me to a classified ad which lets me change gossip into blackmail.

Re: Echo Bazaar
Welcome aboard!
@Eldan, by good setting, you, of course, mean perfect?
Well, depends what do you want to do with your Dramatic Tension. If it is for spending somewhere in London, you can increase it in Forgotten Quarters, Flit and Wilmot Street. If you need it somewhere at sea, then you can gain it on that island where you can spend it. The one with the well, I can't recall the name.
And as for Blackmail Material, as everything else, there are three ways:
- Bazaar Sidestreets, by giving a lot of goods
- By combining lesser items in your inventory
- And by some storylets, cards, and such, but that is not always available

Re: Echo Bazaar
Well, you might be interested in this, then. It's an tabletop RPG being made in the same setting as Fallen London. Sadly, no news yet.
As for PbP, I'm sadly in too much of a hassle currently."Don't make me go all Darth Vader on your teddy." - BBEG of the month

Re: Echo Bazaar
Yes, the more I'm playing, the more I like the setting. For some reason, I think it would fit particularly well in a Changeling: The Lost game with some minor alterations.

Re: Echo Bazaar
It might, though I neither really know Changeling nor the setting of Echo Bazaar, given that I've played for only a day.
I was thinking FATE, really, but that's a go- to solution for every weird game.Resident Vancian Apologist

Re: Echo Bazaar
Changeling's common themes include madness, dreams, and the power of fairy tales and myths. The PCs were kidnapped by eldritch abominations (the True Fae) who dragged them across another world in order to inflict them metaphysically bad things before they escaped. There is a lot of variety in terms of Changeling appearances and powers, and it lends itself well to being set during Victorian times.
As for Echo Bazaar, well, I won't spoil things for you, but there's a lot.
I could very well see an epic campaign where London was pulled into a deep part of the Hedge, with several "species" of hobgoblins running around, resembling the Rubbery Men, the Clay Men, etc. The Devils would obviously be played by the True Fae, who are fond of making shady contracts with anything that has a soul. And the Masters... hell, figuring out who are the Masters of the Bazaar could be very well be its own plot. And Fallen London might keep existing in a sort of quasi-mundane reality bubble so that the Thorns don't grow everywhere and not everybody has to be a Changeling... but mortals are still half-crazy and weird things may still happen to them.
... that's it, I've got my next campaign setting!
(Note to self: still check out FATE.)Originally Posted by on Dwarf Fortress succession gamesOriginally Posted by Dwarf Fortress 0.40.01 bugs

Re: Echo Bazaar
I'd play in that game, though it's been some time since I played Echo Bazaar as well. Might be time to check out FATE as well, I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about it.

Re: Echo Bazaar
I just like it because it's so damn simple. With a few simplifications, I can teach someone how to use it in three minutes, then make a character in five to ten more.

Personally, I'm currently working on a LARP set in Fallen London revOlving around a meeting of the City's movers and shakers as they debate a new alliance that the Brass Embassy has offered.

Re: Echo Bazaar
So, has anything interesting been going on in ye old Bazaar? I haven't loaded up the site in about a month or more now, just got burned out on it for whatever reason(ok, it's the endless grind for better and better items, but with 90% of the story related stuff done, and the other 10% of story stuff locked due to needing Fate, it just got boring).

Re: Echo Bazaar
It appears, judging from a post they put on Facebook earlier today, that they will be bringing "The Mysterious Affair of the Box" to an end later this week.

Re: Echo Bazaar
Apparently, Doctor Blake (my character) is a horrible shot. He's tried this shooting competition on Watchmaker's Hill for at least a dozen times now, and never hit anything. And the difficulty isn't even that high for him.
Does anyone know how I can get Contacts in Society? I have a card that needs one.Last edited by Eldan; 2012-07-25 at 08:56 AM.

Re: Echo Bazaar
I haven't come across this as of now. In fact I have come to know about this game through here only. Seems to be exciting . Thinking to give out a try, as many of the members here are playing this game.
