AMEN has cameras everywhere. Everywhere I say! So yes, yes they do. Of course, that's probably not true for deep deep in the base. But in this case, they were more than likely by cameras, yes.

There are cameras in the halls, main room, and other public places. The rooms of the members don't have cameras, but there is a thing in the walls of the base watching everything. Fortutaly, it doesn't tell much of what it watches.

But anyway, the point I was making, which was that it should be noted in the OP that there are cameras everywhere but deep, deep, into the base, and in the member's rooms, still stands.

I disagree. It sort of spoils the effect of AMEN if you're warned about all the dangers in the OP. AMEN is not a nice place. Go there at your own risk.

Eh. Personally, I feel it's kind of rude to use something like that to listen to conversations and not warn people OOC, at least if it's never pointed out IC that there are cameras (since I doubt they're all disguised as potted plants or something*, it's not that unreasonable to say that someone might spot one).

*In which case, AMEN would either look like a botanical garden to cover all angles, and thus they should be pointed out as an extremely noticeable oddity, or they should still be mentioned, since it's not impossible that, even by accident, someone would be out of the view field of a plant-camera, as it would have very little range of motion.

Anyway, Alexandrian, do you mind linking me to your last posts for Spec and Juppy? I'm finally not run off my feet, but I've lost track of those scenes.

Well, the cameras aren't really visible from what I know. Probably some sort of tinsy tiny variety. It's not like AMEN has ever been lacking SCIENCE!

But really, unless you're meta gaming they were probably going to get caught on camera anyway since they're new members and never knew a thing about them. The more seasoned veterans learn of them soon enough.

Also, it has been established since... well, as long as I've been here that AMEN has cameras, so it's not like it's kept a secret.

In any case, I'll edit something into the OP about the cameras.

@ Cn'or:

1. You never even said where your character was until I poked you to add a location tag, nor did you say your character was examining their surroundings.

2. I have a RL camera sitting in front of me that's smaller than my pinky nail. AMEN has been full of Mad Scientists from the beginning. I can't imagine they'd need visible cameras or potted plants.

3. Even if the field of view wasn't covered, the voices would have carried. Anyone could have been standing around the corner and heard anything that was said. Which brings me to...

4. The OP does mention that the base is alive, and that one of the named NPCs is a spymaster that no one has ever seen.

And finally:

5. Gordon doesn't seem to care that your guys aren't evil anyway.

Basically, if you wander into someone's base and start talking about how you don't really believe in their core principles, but you hope to get resources out of them, you should take care that your conversation is not overheard. Doubly or triply so if said organization is EEEEEEVIL and has no qualms about dropping you in a valcano.

If you'd posted that your character was being careful not to be overheard, then I wouldn't have had Pink overhear you. But then again, Seltz also told everything to someone she just met, without any way of knowing they weren't about to backstab her, so I didn't think that she was a careful person.

Of course he doesn't care that they don't think themselves as evil. He needs more science people, so he can use them, and if they are a problem, he can deal with them without too many issues.

And I'm not objecting to it in this specific instance, since no attempt was made to conceal their conversation, and it was specifially mentioned that they were probably not in a private place and should likely get that way, just generally wondering.

I'm guessing the spymaster is mentioned in Henchmen? I missed that when I was checking through.

As for the base being alive, I'm aware of this, having seen it in the OP and talked with The Thing in the Walls. I still fail to see how that's relevant, though, given that the cameras have nothing to do with it.

I find it funny that only a handful of people have realized that The Hatter/The Hatteress isn't actually evil. He/she is just mad! And I should probably mention that The Hatteress isn't actually The Hatter, oddly enough. They're related, but…
