I was just going through some of my Ponythread backlog, saw this awesome picture, and decided that I need to base my next D&D character (3.5e and/or 4e because I play campaigns in both systems) on humanised!Luna.

Ponythread: Based on this picture and what we've seen of Luna's in-show personality, can you help me come up with 10th level characters for either system? Assume all WotC published resources are acceptable, but not third party or homebrew.

Here's some of my thoughts:
Race (3.5e): Human (obviously); Aasimar (for the Outsider type); Elan (for the immortality); Dark or Shadow Creature templates.

Classes (3.5e): Sorcerer-based Swiftblade? Beguiler with FR Shadow Weave magic feats? Rapier-based Swordsage/[Arcane class]/Jade Phoenix Mage? Psionic Rogue?

Race (4e): Human (obviously); Eladrin (for the long lifespan/otherworldly aspect).

Classes (4e): Shadow-pact Warlock? Some sort of Rogue multiclass/hybrid with an Arcane class? Bladesinger? Assassin?

What are your thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

I know very little about 4e, so can't really help there.
For 3.5 though, let's see. First off, if you just want to go by that picture and her personality, I think that duelist would be extremely fitting with the flavor, although it's not the most powerful class ever printed. Obviously a duelist would only speak in the TRADITIONAL ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE.

Could also try the hexblade (I think it's in player's handbook 2) which has a nice set of darkness flavored curses and debuffs along with good melee attacks.

Another option would be to play up the fact that she's actually a super-powerful magic user, picture with rapier notwithstanding. In that case a sorcerer with a bloodline variant of some kind, although I can't for the life of me remember if there's a shadow variant. Abyssal if there's not a shadow bloodline somewhere at least gets close, although I'd find a hat and eat it if there isn't a shadow bloodline either published somewhere or in the homebrew materials.

What are your thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

For 4e, Invokers, Psions and Wizards get powers that could cover LOUD VOICE MODE, including fear and psychic attacks plus either real or illusory swarms of spiders. For race I'd say Stormsoul Genasi for the emotion based weather control flavour. To fit the picture you'll want a sword, so maybe Wiazrd of the Spiral Tower paragon path, or maybe a Swordmage MC. Actually, that picture could easily be a pure Swordmage, though I'm not sure it fits pony!Luna quite as well.

Um, Luna is Princess Luna... Princess Celestia's sister who turned into Nightmare Moon, was banished to the moon for 1000 years, and was restored by the Elements of Harmony (Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2). But mainly from the episode Luna Eclipsed (Season 2 Episode 4)... tall, navy blue Alicorn (winged unicorn) pony... sparkly hair... had some trouble fitting in... WE SPEAK IN THE TRADITIONAL ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE!

Hmmm. Assuming this would be the thread for fanfiction and the like.

Well, a group of friends (and me) decided to write this Dwarf Fortress/My Little Pony: FiM crossover with a twist.

No violence, just as pure happy fic as possible. If you've heard of Dwarf Fortress, you might guess how this would be a challenge.

I rewatched Ticket Master. When Twilight and Spike were hiding in the storefront window, Twilight was wearing the clown wig the mayor wore for Nightmare Night. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but it was a nice touch.

I'm not much of a fanfic reader, but has everypony seen the Vinyl Scratch Tapes? It's really good. The characterization of Vinyl Scratch and Octavia was excellent.

Hey everypony figured I should stop by and see how Nightmare night is going for all of you. I am having a pretty good one, I got a box of full sized candy bars and handed them out to kids with my brother while watching ponies and now am getting ready for work. Anyone else do anything exciting?

My Nightmare Night was pretty tame. Sitting in the apartment for a few hours, chillin', and then headed down to my old college to do... well pretty much nothing all night.

Actually, I have to say that I've always considered the above to BE nihilism. When I was told otherwise (at times quite loudly) I was rather shocked. I now discriminate between 'negative' nihilism and 'positive' nihilism.

I had a whole massive thing on this, but then I thought better. It's probably not a good idea for me to just kind of go for about three pages on my own personal philosophy. I've done it before. Nopony wants to read through all that.

I have a crap internet connection, and I've been waiting for all three pages to load while I was browsing the rest of Ponythread. Probably a bad idea in hindsight, but... Meh. Just kind of killed the punch of it for me, reading this first.

Ho hum. Gonna have to start checking new games for minimum requirements (and Amazon had better watch themselves, since it's not clear from their product information). Better to find out now, before I bought it though...

Also, I think it's not an encouraging sign that DX10 is a requirement. In, fact it's the first game I've ever seen that's not XP compatible. No other game seems to be that desperate for resources. I think the 6 gig ram recommended spec for Windows 7 seems extraordinarly high as well - it's significantly above Witcher 2. That all smacks to me of the fact they've been very inefficient with their graphics. A starship game ought not really to be that graphics hungry, considering all the enviromental effects that aren't around (e.g. rain/water/hair/vegetation). Go figure.

(I read on the Bioware forums that about a year ago Steam reckoned still about 30-40% of PC users are still using XP, and I doubt it's changed dramatically in the last nine months; Kerberos are going to rather regret SotS II, I think, given that they've cut off some potential customers with that, and alienated a lot of those left with their catastrophic release bog up. Now, from what I understand, the latter is repairable, over time (and being so) - but the loss of good will is less easy to recoup.)

We're still very much alive and kicking. I personally more blame the IRC diverting shenanigans, more so than the drama that popped up last thread, and even this thread. IRC still gets 17 - 20 active users at a time, and sometimes it's so fast I literally can not physically move my eyes fast enough to keep up.

Personally, I think that it'll even out to a 50/50 split eventually. But right now, IRC is the new shiny toy for everypony to play with, and they're definitely playing with it.

It's sad really. I just gotten Sword of the Stars off Steam and man if it isn't the best 4X game I played since GC II. I do hope they can fix their bugged products.
