Re: Machines of War
Alright, you get a Keen ____sword (long or short) of ______ (Frost, Shock, Flaming). +1 attack/damage, with double the normal crit range and an extra 1d6 damage. You decide what it looks like and which damage type.
@curf06: I'm sending you a PM.Last edited by madtinker; 2012-04-13 at 09:50 AM.

Re: Machines of War
We are taking a break for a week or so for me to get some studying done for finals, and INWRanger is somewhere in the wilderness. Curf06 and Manwhoisthisman will be joining us, after the break.

Captain Kairn nods his approval and leads you out of the maze. "Now that war has been averted, what will you do?"

Re: Machines of War
Find work and find out who is responsible for killing my friends. Beyond that, I don't know if you want to know. Thank you for your help.
Grab my stuff I stored in the armory several pages back. Then try to find a cleric that can explain this vision of Vicciano laughing at me. After that, track down proof of Argoughs involvement and have him tried, or execute him myself.

You find the Cleric of Oldtown. He nods his head sagely. (1d20+10)[21]
Ah yes, it seems you have been the subject of a dream enchantment. This man is still alive somewhere.Last edited by madtinker; 2012-04-19 at 11:32 AM.

Set out for Lafierre to start tracking him down. Maybe Argough lackeys have some leads and will talk. Also work to bring Argough down, but get the whole story first.
SpoilerHow and when are we going to add the others?

Re: Machines of War
SpoilerI was going to have you all meet on the road. Have curf06 check his messages, he needs to fix his skill points. I'll check with manwhoisthisman and make sure he's ready. He's moving to Texas next week, so might be a few days behind. And, I'm leaving for California on Tuesday.
You set out down the road. It's sunny and the sky is clear, a most pleasant day to be outdoors. As Nightwhisper canters along, you can't help by get lost in a bit of a reverie. After about two hours Nightwhisper stops. There is a fork in the road you don't remember. Do you go right or left?Originally Posted by The Giant

Re: Machines of War
Look at the forks and see which one is better used, and see if one is an exact copy of the other. In other words, see if they are both real or if one is an illusion.

Spoilernothing to see here, just pretending to roll the dice.
They seem about the same as far as how much use they get, but are distinctly different roads. The one on the left has a field on one side, but the one on the right follows a stream and is shady. In the middle is another field, but apparently the farmer burned the stubble of his fields last season and it got out of control, because the sign that would normally indicate what is what is charred and unreadable.Last edited by madtinker; 2012-04-21 at 11:44 AM.

Re: Machines of War
@ Jaster
SpoilerThe stream gradually descends below the fields, and the tress grow taller to reach the sun out of the narrow valley. Moss, undergrowth, and dark shadows fill the space below the trees. You find yourself in a stone ruin, with relief carvings of grotesque animals with spiky mouths and long worms coming out of their faces.
@ CameronSpoilerYou've been on the run. You're not sure exactly who is trying to kill you, but the last three thugs have not been a coincidence. Apparently, someone has put a price on your head. You're hiding out in some ancient ruins about a day outside of Smirnoff on some deserted dirt road. Out of nowhere you hear the sound of a horse cantering along, complete with rider.Last edited by madtinker; 2012-04-23 at 10:21 AM.

Get out my short bow and continue exploring the ruin as much as the ground will let me ride horseback.

Spoiler
I move silently into a hiding position in the shadows where I can see the rider, without being seen. I then pull out my short bow and ready an arrow. And hope to Nocturnal that it isn't another stupid thug from the Blood Ravens.
If it's not, then hail the passerby with a, "How goes it?"
I'm not sure if you wanted me to roll for anything...
Move silently: [14] + 11 = 25
Hide : [11] + 11 = 22

Curf
Spoiler
I hold my bow in one hand high above my head (without any arrows, trying to hold it in a non threatening manner), while still keeping the rest of me out of sight.
"A weary traveler. Lower your bow and I'll come out."
If he does so then:
I step out, offer my hand in greeting. "Can't be too careful nowadays. People call me Curf."
If he doesn't then:
Lower hand, rehide [roll]1d20+11[/roll]. Wait to see what he does. Ready an arrow.

No more spoilers needed. For now. Also Curf, could you add a link to your character sheet into your signature?Last edited by madtinker; 2012-04-27 at 09:05 AM.

Re: Machines of War
I decided to take a break from where I've been living for a little bit. I can't sleep very long before someone is kicking me with their boot looking for a fight. And it's always the same group of stupid, nameless, drunk thugs. In short I haven't slept well in a while. On the plus side making a living was pretty easy for a while.
If you continue on this road it should take you to Smirnoff.

What kind of work are you looking for? I might have Need of a partner on a personal matter, and I always seem to find some type of job where a spare set of hands could be helpful.

Im willing to do pretty much anything. Though if you're headed to Smirnoff it would be nice to find whoever put a price on my head. And I'm sure whoever it is will have some interesting items to compensate us for our troubles.

Re: Machines of War
Perhaps we can help each other out. It seems we both need someone who our adversaries don't know and that can get some information for us. Now this bounty of yours, is it dead or alive? Who did you anger enough that would have the resources to place a price on your head?

Re: Machines of War
You help me, I'll be more than happy to help you.
I'm pretty sure the people after me want me dead. I don't know how much of a bounty I have. The people who have been coming after me are apart of a group called Red Raven. They are probably coming after me because I beat the snot out of a thug who: woke me from my sleep, man handled me, and hassled me for money. He a short lived career as a thug. Beyond that I can't think of why someone would be after me.Last edited by curf06; 2012-04-29 at 08:40 PM.

Re: Machines of War
So the trick would be to either get the bounty cancelled or to wipe out the entire organization. The first one would probably be more doable with a higher chance of living. I am trying to track down a mercenary named Vicciano so I can find out who hired him and why, and so I can get him to stop laughing at me in my dreams. You may be better at that than I, considering I tried to kill him last week or so. Tell me more about this Red Raven, and if they have headquarters in Lafierre (capital of Smirnoff). If they are super organized maybe all we will have to do is go in and change their books.

Re: Machines of War
The Red Raven group is a muscle for hire group, they are relatively new compared with other mercenary type organizations. From what I've heard from others, there organization differs from most in that they are controlled by multiple heads that make up their decision making process. This allows them to be more mobile than their competitors. Which means there's a good chance that my records are spread out amongst the different factions by now.
My guess is that I'd have to find one of the people in charge then either: black mail, bribe, get on good side, torture, threaten family and friends, join, or bluff it til I make it. Personally since they've ruined my sleep a good number of times so I'd prefer black mail, torture, and/or less desirable means.
Also there is probably a good chance that they might have info about this Vicciano character you're interested in, since they a muscle for hire group.
So if we head back to Lafierre we could probably kill two birds with one stone. How's that sound to you?Machines of War

Re: Machines of War
Sounds like an idea worth doing. Still, I have an entire town that hates me, maybe more and I don't need any more enemies right now, though in the near future I probably will.
