Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Hmmm... Honestly? I don't really care that they are adding numbers to the end. What else would they call them? Pokemon Ebon Black and Ivory White?
edit: I think I like the fact that I don't need to go out and buy a 3DS to play them a lot better, since I don't have the money for that.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Checking Serebii, it looks like the Arceus event is going to go on until May 1st.
I think I will end up resetting.... Here's the mons I'm looking at saving:
Tornadus, Archeops, Deino, Victini, Volcarona, and Serperior. Except for the two legendaries, you can keep most of them as long as I can get an egg from them....

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Oh, numbered sequels.
Interesting.
*Resumes playing Pokemon TCG 2* *In before someone says that's not a main series game and doesn't count.* *Also in before Pokemon Stadium 2 and similar things being said about that.*
Let's see, I asked for no Zubats and I got reasonable close to that request being granted, and I asked for a Fire/Electric type with Levitate and kinda got that at a possibly pyrhic cost, so... Okay, kill N off in an excruciatingly horribly terrible horrible painful and horrible way- permanently- at the start of the game, and I'll buy both versions this time around.
If Cheren dies in the process, I would do a dance, too.
E: Also, yeah, we could still use an Electric/Bug type. 'Cause, you know, we did not get one this generation. LA LA LA LA LA NOT LISTENING.
Trolling is the new Publicity.Last edited by OracleofWuffing; 2012-02-25 at 11:52 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Hmm. Well, *spoilers*
Spoiler...we did hear that N went to some other region and was seen with a Dragon-type Pokemon after capturing all the remaining Sages of Team Plasma. Wonder what that could possibly mean. Perhaps he'll be doing something completely different in the sequels...
By the way, I wonder, would a Bug-type team be effective? Scizor is pretty much the best Pokemon in OU and Volcarona is a beast, but you're so Stealth Rock-weak it's ridiculous, and Forretress the only Bug-type Spinner that doesn't make me cry.
Edit: Huh. Serebii says there's a Pikachu with Extremespeed. That might actually be usable. In theory.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Hey, I have a question. I'm trying to work through the Battle Institute in Black, and I've met with... mixed results (apparently I'm in both novice and hyper rank...). Anyways, I was wondering if I could get any help with movesets/which three pokemon I should try to use to get through it with the highest score. Here's my current team-
Spoiler
Klinklang@Leftovers
Shift Gear
Volt Switch
Gear Grind
Return
Carracosta@Rocky Helmet
Smack Down
Bulldoze
Waterfall
Focus Blast
Mandibuzz@BlackGlasses
Nasty Plot
Dark Pulse
Air Slash
Fly
Rapidash@Heat Rock
Sunny Day
Wild Charge
Solar Beam
Flare Blitz
Snorlax@Leftovers
Body Slam
Earthquake
Crunch
Giga Impact
Serperior@Miracle Seed
Dragon Tail
Return
Coil
Leaf Blade
Thus far I've been opening with Klinklang and just volt-switching based on what my opponent has, but it's been a bit iffy. Any help would be appreciated.Last edited by Othesemo; 2012-02-26 at 04:25 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
They did make a third one. It's called Pokemon Colosseum.
Also, looking it up on Bulbapedia, we actually got Japan's Pokemon Stadium 2. The first only had 42 pokemon, most of which are final evolutions of their lines (i.e., only Charizard instead of Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard.) with some exceptions.you know that I'm more than just a doll do you?-Geno

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
I notice you don't have natures or EVs listed.
Postgame challenges along the lines of the institute are difficult, and even moreso if you don't optimize your Pokemon's stats. You'll have a very hard time even with a fantastic lineup of species and movepools if your Pokemon aren't specifically trained in a way that would influence their stats perfectly.
The first post in this thread has a few of the many online references for understanding effort values (point buys), inherited values (rolled stats), and natures (a bit of both). I personally suggest starting with one at a time, seeing as all the details of training and breeding are a lot to take in in one sitting. Whether you decide to pursue the dark path of PokeMinmaxing or not, I wish you the best of luck! :)

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
It's in Nimbasa City, right next to the pokemon center. Basically, you fight 5 progressively harder 3v3 battles, then get a grade based on (among other things) how many you won. Here's a link.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
You what's really awesome? Baton Passing +6 Attack and +3 Speed to a Haxorus
Sturdy? Mold Breaker
Focus Sash? Dual Chop
Priority? Unless you have a Banded Weavile, I'm not sweating (Oh wait, that doesn't OHKO)
Resist Dragon? You are a Steel type, enjoy Earthquake.
Skarmory? After Rocks it is ~43% chance to OHKO, so you better not rely on a switch-in; and then you have my Starmie to deal withLast edited by boj0; 2012-02-26 at 10:21 PM.

Hey guys, you wanna know what the best part about Pokemon Black and White 2 is? I hear they're going to give Flareon Fire Pledge! [/OBVIOUSLY FAKE RUMOR]

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Competitive or just for beating the game, and what generation?
First, get that guy a Choice Band. It's pretty much the reason you use him. Then, depending on generation, teach him Hyper Beam (Gen 3) or Giga Impact (Gen 4 or 5). After that, teach him various physical moves of varying types. Learn how to use prediction, and switch often.
