So, I finished my submission for today's ATG. And I don't hate it as much as I did for a while there. Oh the joys of making something that looks absolutely horrendous up until the point it's completely done. I swear I was tempted to stop working on it for the last hour or two just because it looked horrible, but now that it's done I'm mostly happy with it.

That building in the middle of the background absolutely refused to bend to my will, the left arm of the guy on the right could have gone a little better, and I really should have thought about the background colours before I decided to do Applejack because I couldn't figure out a good way to make her tail more visible. Other than that I'm really pleased with how this turned out, and am pretty sure I'm getting much better at cleaning unwanted stuff out of the background on these things.

Pretty awesome, but I feel you should have edited it to say pony soldier instead of goblin. xD

I dunno. Swarm would need to be elongated or forced into two syllables. "swore-orm" just sounds tacky, where the typical American will slur tyranid into tran-id/t'ranid. So tyranid, shortened, sounds like it is supposed to have multiple syllables where swarm itself does not.

You follow? I feel like I'm explaining poorly.

That head annoys me. No clue why but it refused to cooperate today. Also saddens me because the card looks so much better in person, but at that point most people won't even realize just how much of that card I had to paint over and/or move. (That shield should be more to the left, and the sword arm isn't even attached in the original)

I'll have to sit this one (and any future CONs) out though, until I graduate and have at least a steady job to tide me over. (It costs upwards of RM2000-3000 to book a ticket, one way to LA/NY over here, which is a full month salary of an average worker.)

Yowza. College I understand, but normally I'd say "let us handle the ticket" but a month's salary has its own problems- like eating or paying rent when you get back.

When/if I get the finances to work with over-seas folks, I'll shoot you a call.

Well, man. You gotta do what you gotta do; but like I said the fun came from people, and the pony was just a nice backdrop and icebreaker. In the end, brony is a matter of socialization more than pony-lovin'. The merchandise and stuff is a nice secondary (though I've got a Lyra and a Bon-Bon on my belt that are sort of a guilty indulgence )

That's what I figured. I've been thinking about it and wondering how much of the difference is based off the slight language variance. I've actually been wondering how you would pronounce tyranid on its own, as I can think of a couple variations.

It's also possible I just have different tastes in preferred sounds than you. Heaven knows I'm strange with the aural resonances.

And hey, that's true. I did some card tampering in my day; it was hard to explain to people but they got the gist just fine during actual play. Though I never understood how they could pitch a fit over having a copy with a different picture when having a sheet of paper with the card name on I. Was considered a valid proxy >.<
