I can make a sandwich in that time! I think. I don't usually make cheese sandwiches, though; I prefer sweeter things. Like peanut butter and chocolate spread.

When the burger's cooked, it will be put in a bun and slathered with ketchup or brown sauce or both, depending on Cassidy's preference. Likewise, a slice of cheese will go on top. Unless that makes it a cheeseburger.

Cassidy does ask for both of the offered sauces, and doesn't mind the slice of cheese. She's not particularly picky.

After Cassidy has her burger, Defelent is quickly given his sandwich. Unless he already has it due to the first thing. In which case, she'll start the washing up.

Cassidy takes a bite out of her hamburger almost as soon as she gets it. "The food here's much better than more damned krill," she says.

"Krill is the only food available on your homeworld? Wow, that's... Pretty dire." Of course he knows what krill are- he's a priest of the God of Invertebrates, and that includes planktonic Antarctic crustaceans.

"Not at all. There's soy, too." Cassidy then thinks for a few seconds before adding. "They can do a lot with that stuff, but soykaf or krill in the shape of a steak never measures up to the real thing. Problem is the real thing's real expensive."

"I still wouldn't want to live there. I much prefer here. The Crawling Pits might also be a preferable place to live, depending." The Crawling Pits is the name of Dalachrech's home, and inhabited by a multitude of invertebrates of all sorts, plus vertebrate worshippers of the Demon Lord- Falmer, rogue Drow, driders, humans, and so on. And the demons.

"Eh, you get used to it." Cassidy shrugs. "I mean, there's a ton of bad things in my hometown, but it's still my hometown."

"But would you still prefer to live there, or here?" Defelent is curious. Both have upsides and downsides, and he'd like to know how Cassidy would choose.

"Well, I don't know," Cassidy says. "It's a crazy quilt back home, but the Nexus is worse. This place has its own perks too, though."

"I've only ever lived here. I have no working knowledge on other worlds, but I don't think I'd like to be anywhere else. This place is home, and I don't think I could adapt very well to the lack of diversity I hear of elsewhere." Meaning most worlds don't have the sheer variety of sizes and shapes of people as the Nexus does.

"Well, we don't exactly lack for diversity, that's for sure. Not as much as here, but still." She pauses tor a few moments. "And I've got friends back home." She's using the term 'friend' a bit loosely here.

"Oh, I see. Any jealous ex-lovers that may try to find you?" He's got a smile on his face as he asks, so I'm not sure how serious he's being.

Cassidy bursts into a short fit of laughter. "Nah. Never had anything serious."

"In that case, I can sleep easy, in the arms of whomever I'm sleeping easily with at the time." Defelent smiles again.

"Eh, you wouldn't have to worry even if someone was jealous. They'd be too scared of me." Cassidy grins again.

"Oh, really? Well, if you've been avoiding people more powerful than you are when it comes to relationships, I think you've miscalculated in my case." Defelent has a lot of experience of being a priest and has Dalachrech's favour, meaning that Dalachrech is unlikely to grant a prayer cast at him by another cleric, unless it's healing or a buff, or possess greater favour with Dalachrech.

"Oh, I don't know," Cassidy says. "I'm not as weak as I look." I don't think Defelent knows about her being an adept.

I'm working on the basis that he doesn't. "I'm more powerful than I look, and I have the favour of Dalachrech." Dalachrech doesn't grant prayers unless they're chanted, although the High Priests of the various Temples can channel His power without chanting audibly.

"In that case, I might have bitten off more than I can chew," Cassidy says. She prefers to keep her own talent for magic to herself.

"You might have. But I think you know more about modern technology than I." Defelent still thinks he's more powerful, but I wouldn't want to make a bet on his survival in battle between the two.

"Yeah, I do know plenty about chrome." Cassidy slips into slang again for a moment before continuing. "But it's not like we're gonna fight any time soon, right?"

"No, I don't think so. Unless you want to fight, anyway." Defelent smiles. It's quite a suspicious smile, actually.

Cass chuckles and shakes her head. "Nah. Call me crazy, but I prefer what we've got right now."

"Oh, I'm sure there's some kinds of fighting that can be carried out without us separating. Pillow fights, for instance." That's probably why he's got that smile.

Cass actually manages to be a little surprised by that, but she soon laughs and shakes her head in disbelief. "That knocked me for a loop, gotta admit."

"Oh, good. It's always better when I can make a remark that nobody was expecting. Predictability is never a good thing."

"No, I expected something like that. Just didn't expect you to talk about pillow fights all of a sudden," Cassidy says, trying to smooth that over.

"I've been talking about pillow fights for a while; you're the one that was talking about something else." He meant pillow fight right at the start, with the 'want to fight now' thing.
