Well, since they're obviously from alternate timelines and all alternate timelines are explicitly created when things go the way they aren't supposed to, I'm going to go ahead and theorize that they ended up in the flushed quadrant. This reinforces the universal truth that Eridan just isn't meant to be loved.

Rose speaks of null sessions being the norm, so maybe this game really wasn't as atypical as we (I?) previously believed (Outside of the First Guardian prototyping, Green Sun creation and the alien encounter, that is) which makes me wonder if there where any successful sessions on earth, or if they were all cancer'd into oblivion.

Hmm, this makes me wonder, though. The beta kids are bringing a new battlefield into this void session, but it doesn't have any grist in it to make a new universe out of.

Jade is bringing a fully-evolved battlefield, but she lost her universe tadpole. There's nothing that should stop the post-scratch kids from making a new one though, I think. Pre-scratch battlefield plus post-scratch Bilious Slick should allow a universe to be made.

The tadpole was dropped into the volcano on LOFAF - it might be destroyed or it might be safely incubating inside the magic 8-ball/fishbowl thing. It may be a good thing that they took the time to breed a frog before scratching because the new universe might not even have a special frog to breed with.

Running a session ravages the entire planet. Assuming their geological history is roughly similar to our own, Wikipedia suggests two suitable events in Earth's history, Permian-Triassic and Cretaceous-Tertiary, and notes that among other things the first is notable for killing insects, and the second for killing dinosaurs.

I was going to say something about how Earth probably isn't the only planet destined for intelligent life in its universe, but the thought of a dinosaur session kind of overwhelmed that.

It might even be necessary for it to be in the volcano. Why does the "forge" (where the tadpole has to be created) always feature a volcano by the temple? If it's there, it's for a reason.

I mean, it's a weird creation myth story about universes reproducing through a game. Skaia is a womb, the tadpole is a spermatozoon, and the volcano is a phallus. There's all the hullabaloo made about genetic codes, and the fact that for the human(oid) protagonists it's a coming-of-age story with them going through puberty.

The Freudian analysis fits so well it has to be pretty much deliberate.

Given all that, I think that the genesis tadpole falling in the volcano was required for success.
