[Nexus] The Black Dragon's Den IX

[Gullara]

Not exactly following. Kirk will enter a couple minutes later, pretending to not be with Dipsnig at all. He'll seat himself not too near the goblin, but not far enough that he couldn't hear him if he tried. The drow orders a drink and settles in for a wait.

[Reinholdt]

Reinholdt glances at Angie checking out Dipsnig and Kirk coming in, and fades into the shadows and leaves. Probably doesn't want to talk to Kirk after that auction fiasco.

But mostly because Ilpholin is arriving here, as promised. She's hoping Magtok will have sent one of himselfs on here already, but won't be too surprised if he's not.

[McBish]

Angie sits at her table picking at her food slowly watching the people around the room looking for anyone or anything that looks interesting.

[Gullara]

Kirk's eyes wander over to Angie. Hm, he'd might as well not just sit here while Dipsnig conducts his business. The drow moves over to her table and stands across from her "Would you mind some company?" He asks, his smile friendly.

[McBish]

Not having a sweet picture of Angie I shall have to do my best to describe her. She is a small woman inner early 20's, though her extreme gauntness and lack of muscle she looks much older, she even has a cane sitting next to her to help her walk. She has long blond hair that reaches the middle of her back and is so light it tends to float in unfelt breezes. Her eyes are blue with large golden flakes and they stare with an eerie intensity.

Not at all. I was hoping for some company tonight but wasn't sure who I would find.

Her voice though is still that of a young woman.

But probably the most important part of Angie can't be seen. She is a powerful empath and is curiously poking around to see what his current emotional state is.

[Gullara]

Sweet pictures are totally cheating. I should probably feel bad.

"Excellent." Kirk slides back the chair and settles into it in one smooth motion. "The name's Kirk. Kirk Locke. You are?" The drow holds up his galss of straight rum. "And would you like a drink? My treat."

Curiously, Kirk is displaying no emotion at all. He's entirely blank and it's not apparent why.

[McBish]

Yes I think a hard cider sounds lovely. And I am Angie, just Angie I'm afraid.

She quickly looks him over for any items that might be shielding him. But she also tries testing his defense by reaching out and trying to make him feel very happy. It is a clumsy attempt that would be easy to detect and block with some skill. Of course there is also a far more subtle attempt to make him more curious about her.

[Gullara]

There's nothing immediately apparent that might be protecting him. As far as she can tell he's got noting on him but the clothes on his back and the hat on his head. As for her attempt to make him happy, it's hard to say if there was any effect. His expression remains the same. On the other hand, there's no sign he realizes what she's trying to do.

Kirk waves down one of the bar goblins. "A hard cider for my friend here, and another one of these for me." His attention is directed back at the woman. "So, Angie, I can't say I've seen you around here before. Yet another person dragged into out little slice of the multiverse, or did you just decide to spend your time somewhere new today?"

She'll have to decide for herself if him asking questions is a sign the secondary influence is working.

[McBish]

How can I put this without sounding crazy. I was spending a long time outside my body and wanted to walk with my feet again. Nope that still sounded crazy didn't it?

She laughs at herself and takes a drink of her cider.

[Gullara]

"After living here for a long while now, nothing sounds crazy anymore." Kirk says with a chuckle. He downs the rest of his rum so he can pick up the fresh glass. "But time outside your body? I think I need to hear more about that."

[Lord Magtok]

But mostly because Ilpholin is arriving here, as promised. She's hoping Magtok will have sent one of himselfs on here already, but won't be too surprised if he's not.

It's not until Ilpholin shows up that Magtok even remembers that he's supposed to be here. Hopefully he's not too late, or at the very least, not as late as Cessie. So long as there's someone else more deserving of glares and frustration he should be fine, right?

"Hey Ilpholin. Sorry about not warning you ahead of time about...well, everything, I guess. I hadn't remembered the Council ever being quite so stupid and petty before. Before, we usually had some measure of consensus on things, so I think that might have played a part in things."

He takes a seat, and orders something that probably could and would kill him if he were so bold as to actually drink it.

[McBish]

Angie nods having lived in the nexus most of her life she is pretty used to people sounding crazy as well.

Well I am an empath and spent a long time now as a being of pure emotion leaving my body behind. I needed rime to get some perspective on my own life... or was I trying to do something good... The whole process is kinda blurry.

[Gullara]

Kirk raises an eyebrow. "That's a new one. I expect it's hard to explain exactly what that is." He sips his rum. "So how long is a long time? I can't imagine it was easy returning to your body, or however that works."

[McBish]

If I had to guess probably around 2 years maybe a bit less. It is hard to say. But what about you what brings you to this fine establishment?


She smiles looking around the dark tavern.

[Gullara]

Two years? Huh. "This has been my haunt for the last while. I come from time to time to get a drink and see if anyone interesting is about. So far it's yet to disappoint." He gives her a wink.

[McBish]

Angie smiles and nods. Lucky you I normally find myself spending most of my time bored and without company. Good to see tonight isn't following the norm.

[Gullara]

"I'm glad to hear that I've made myself good company." The drow swirls the contents of his glass idly. "I do find it hard to believe that a woman like yourself doesn't have more people to surround yourself with, however."

[McBish]

Oh come on now it surely can't be that hard to imagine me be alone. Trust me most of my life I've been on my own. She frowns at her statement, she hadn't intended to sound so dark.

[Reinholdt]

Also Magtok should be here earlier than Cessie because Cessie should still be in deliberation. Unless Magtok refuses to use a clone on the matter. Then I guess Ilph waits a fair while.

She looks around a bit.
"Going to miss this place."

[Gullara]

"We're all alone sometime in your life. Some might argue that we're all ultimately alone. I can't bring myself to entirely disagree with that." The drow looks down into his drink, but just shrugs and takes a sip. "But a moment's companionship is always a bright point in an otherwise lonely existence, wouldn't you agree?"

[McBish]

I would say that depends on the person. I have meet several people who I would consider more black smudges then bright spots.

[Gullara]

Kirk chuckles mirthfully and nods. Hard to disagree with that. "And what would you classify me as?" He inquires slyly.

[McBish]

I really don't know I can't really get a read on you. I would guess a charming drowned with hidden dangers lurking under the surface. Hm... do you play a musical instrument? She smiles at him.

[Gullara]

Kirk returns the smile with one of his own. He's used to not being too easy to read at best. "I've dabbled in a few. I like to think I have a talent for the saxophone in particular, though." He glances down at his drink and decides to finish the glass. "I could demonstrate if you'd like."

[Devixer]

A woman in a longcoat walks into the Den. She looks both confused and like she's seen better days. She lowers the submachine gun she's carrying, slinging it onto her shoulder. Cassidy looks around at her surroundings, trying to figure out exactly where she ended up, as well as just how much trouble she'd gotten into.

[McBish]

No need to trouble yourself maybe some other time. You actually remind me of the drowned who used to own this place. I wonder whatever happened to him.

Angie looks over at the new comer and almost reaches out to calm her but decides this being my the Black Dragon Den that might not be a good idea. So instead she reaches out to NPCs around her to make them more friendly and helpful. Heck she might even get a drink bought for her.

[Lord Magtok]

Magtok raises an eyebrow. Miss this place? Ilpholin's going somewhere? Something's happening to Raril? What's the deal here?

"Not coming back here, then?"

[Reinholdt]

"No. I came to say goodbye."

She pauses briefly, spinning the spiderblood wine in her hand back and forth a bit. "I suppose now that its all said and done, I have no more need for pretense and can start at the beginning..."

[Lord Magtok]

"If you'd be so kind..."

Magtok has a bad feeling writhing around in his gut right now. Wherever Ilpholin's going with this, it can't be good. These things never are, even when you expect them to go bad, they still have a way of making even the most grim of predictions look childishly naive and optimistic.

[McBish]

Angie is definitely going to be eavesdroping from her seat, both with her ears and empathic abilities if she can.
