Re: Tools of Chaos
The dagger flies to your hand a final time as the ghast bashes its face on the floor and lies still.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Wait for a second to see if anything else appears. Then search the cave thoroughly, (1d20)[6].

Re: Tools of Chaos
You find 1506 silver pieces, 2 flasks of acid and a tanglefoot bag. Plus the mushrooms you were down in this hole for in the first place. As you search the cave you find another tunnel going out. It has limestone walls, that there is nothing interesting about and goes up. There was another that goes down too.

Re: Tools of Chaos
It goes up, down and around and starts getting small, but you manage to squeeze through. When you finally emerge you find yourself at the ruins of a dwarven fort tucked into the side of the mountain. They have been abandoned for some time, perhaps 200 years. In the predawn light you can see the town you came from. You see a path that goes down, loops around and heads toward the town. It doesn't loo like it has been used for some time.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Memorize where I seem to be. Then go back through the tunnels and come out of the farmhouse cellar like they expect seal the entrance. Then take the mushrooms to town.

Re: Tools of Chaos
You have no problems getting back, not even hearing a rat. You do see one odd thing, a black hand print on the tunnel that you came through when you entered the chamber where the ghast was. You get back to town with the mushrooms and administer them to the men.

Re: Tools of Chaos
If there is nothing else to be done for now, I will find a place to rest and regain my spells. Then I want to find the dwarven fort again.

Re: Tools of Chaos
After both having some of the mushrooms you brought back both men have a little more color. The village healer asks you to use a cure light wounds on each of them. That will let them know for sure if the mushrooms worked.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Their wounds make close, though they still look like they could use a few more days of rest to get fully back on their feet. Your work here is done, and the day is young. Thank you.
Take 100 XP.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Once you get back to Saint Marcus you go through town for about 15 minutes until the halfling from earlier approaches you.
You have the armor? Excellent. Here is 300 gold. We have another job for you. In Blackmoor Crypt a days journey from here there is a Wizards staff entombed with him. Will you go get it?

Re: Tools of Chaos
Now hold on. I could sell this armor for a sight more than just 300. It's in good shape, and a relic to boot.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Oh right, full plate.
Now that I know you are no fool we can settle this. 1500 gold, as we did specifically request this item. As for it being a relic, good luck getting someone to honor that angle.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Bow, You are most just, sir. Now, this other job, what sets this apart from petty grave robbery?

Re: Tools of Chaos
To be honest, nothing. My employer has a competitor who is looking for the staff as well. We just learned that he has recently sent mercenaries in that direction. He looks as if he remembers something. If you don't want to take the staff, fine. I remember my employer once saying that even a copy of it would probably do. If you accept I can get you some copy skin that will make an exact replica of the staff and then you can leave it or hide it or whatever. Bringing the copy skin back would bring you 1000 gold, half price for the staff itself.

Re: Tools of Chaos
If by finding it first I can prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, it is justified. A race then. Excellent. Yes, I would like the option of bringing a copy. If it proves better to retrieve it I shall do so.

Re: Tools of Chaos
He gestures to you. Follow me and bring the armor. he then leads you down several streets and then down a narrow back alley. Drop the armor and wait here, I already paid for it. He disappears behind a row of juniper bushes close to the side of a building. A few minutes later he reappears with a roll of thin skin about 6 inches thick and 10 inches wide. This copy skin will make an exact copy of all physical details of anything it touches, but will not replicate anything of itself. To use it you cover or wrap the object in it, in this case wrap, touch the outside and say "Duplicate, copy, form". It will do the rest. Once it goes limp again bring it back here and we can build an exact copy using it. Now get moving, you have wasted enough time. With that he starts to take the armor away. In a couple minutes he is gone, with the armor.

Noting his current location, Angus heads for Blackmoor Cryp, keeping an eye out for anyone following him.

Re: Tools of Chaos
It is about noon when you leave Saint Marcus and as day wanes into night you come to an inn that is plenty inviting. You guesstimate that you are about 2 hours from the crypt.

Well, I have darkvision and turn undead, why should I be scared of a little dark? Continue on to the crypt.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Don't know why you would be. You proceed to the crypt without incident. Over the opening of it is the warning written in common, dwarven, and elvish, "Leave Something, Pay Respects, Take Nothing". Outside the entrance on either side stand two ebony skeletal statues holding scythes.

Re: Tools of Chaos
The walls are lined with skeletons standing at attention, some of them holding greatswords. Others hold swords and shields or bows and arrows. Passages shoot off in all directions. You notice that each of them have runes on the floor, walls and ceiling, forming a ring around the exits of each passage. Each passage has a clan name on it. There is a small piece of parchment attached to the copy skin that you didn't notice in your haste to leave.
