Re: Tools of Chaos
Can I see any handholds or footholds on the walls, or any indication of how others might have traversed the crevice?

Re: Tools of Chaos
Looking at the rocks you see that the sides of the chasm are jagged like two pieces of a broken mug. The weathering on the stone means it has been in this position for several thousand years. Your best guess is that if someone crossed this they jumped or flew over it.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Use my last stone shape spells to build a bridge 2 feet wide and 6 inches thick that arches across the chasm. The thickness and arch should give it enough strength to hold my weight, but. To be sure I remove my gear and armor while I work, then carry it across piece by piece and put it all back on when I am safely across the gap.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Your arc succeeds, though it is more of a straight line, unless you reduce your width to 18 inches and then actually have an arc. I don't feel like doing the loading and everything else right now. You continue through the tunnel and and descend down the outside of a circular shaft with slick walls. You finally come to the shore of an underground lake. There are no boats around, you can't see the far side, and the water quickly becomes very deep.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Stand very still and listen for signs of life or un-life. Use detect magic to see if there is anything magical out there. If I don't detect anything, try to find a nook or crevice where I can rest and replenish my spells.
When my spells are renewed, cast water walk and venture into the darkness.

Re: Tools of Chaos
You detect nothing from your vantage point. When you are done resting nothing looks any different. You walk across the lake, seeing large natural columns that come from the ceiling and go in to the water. You see some strange ripples, but nothing attacks you. This goes on for about a mile and a half until you come to the other side. There is a rusted iron door and a small place with the remains of a small boat on it. Most of the boat is rotted away.

Listen st the door, (1d20)[14]. If I don't hear anything, knock on the door. If Boone replies, open the door.

Re: Tools of Chaos
You hear nothing at the door and no one answers your knock. You try to open the door, but it is either rusted shut, locked, or both. Make a strength check.
19 or less.
SpoilerThe door stands there refusing to open.
20 or more.
SpoilerYou manage to open the door. A passage is revealed, this one going up. You encounter a skeleton in what you recognize as assassins armor and shortly thereafter a 20 foot ladder that goes in to the ceiling.Last edited by INWranger; 2013-02-28 at 02:53 PM.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Search the assassin for anything useful and easy to carry, and try to find put how he died. (1d20)[19]. Inspect the ladder carefully before trying to climb it.

Re: Tools of Chaos
You find scorch marks and an shaft in the lower torso of his armor. One of his legs is broken. He probably was wounded in a battle and fell off the ladder or took a hit to the leg with a mace. Judging by the fracture he probably passed out and fell. He carries a short message in a pouch.
Compromised. Under siege. Request assistance immediately. Reward Yusef.

Re: Tools of Chaos
The ladder is sound. At the top you find that the trap door is a slab of stone with a catch on your side. The slab is bolted to something. You undo the catch and open to find some type of interrogation or torture chamber. There is a passage that goes to a door barred on your side.

You unbar the door and find yourself back in the assassins orders abandoned refuge. A supply shelf is on the other side of the door.

Has anything been disturbed since I came last? Are there any fresh supplies?

Nothing has been disturbed. Still fresh bread, apples and whatever was in the keg.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Well, I haven't eaten in a while, so sit down to some bread and fruit. Then wait a while to see if anyone comes back to the hideout.

Re: Tools of Chaos
The bread and fruit are nutritious and filling. No one shows up to the hideout. You are just about to doze off when the ghost of what appears to be a scarred half orc appears. He says I implored you to free me, and I will be patient, but cease to seek what is not yours. He then disappears.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Well, I'm all about helping those in need. You wouldn't be the ghost of Goremaputnic, would you?

Re: Tools of Chaos
To release Goremaputnic I need to reunite Prosperity and Ruin. Does it say anything about that in Chosen of the Token? Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing.
Edit:SpoilerAlso, I made you an avatar of Jaster. What do you think?Last edited by madtinker; 2013-03-04 at 07:16 PM.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Chosen of the Token is rich in details until the barbarian king, which you guess is Goremaputnic. You are trying to figure out what your next move is when you receive a Sending from Alora. True-Sons need a neutral parties help as soon as possible. Will you assist?

Re: Tools of Chaos
Yes, but I am several days away. I will come at the swift conclusion of my current errand.
Does it give any details on what Prosperity and Ruin are?Originally Posted by The Giant

Re: Tools of Chaos
Near the beginning it mentions "as stated in "Origin of First Era Artifacts" legend says that the Tokens was the result of a bet between two gods". All other details are probably contained in the other book. You receive an acknowledgement of your delay, that it is acceptable, and that you need to go to the Moldy Crow inn in Chalia. There you will be contacted by Cheyyane.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Well, I haven't seen any sign of anything here. Check the supplies for rope and climbing gear. Head back to where I built the stone bridge. Maybe there was something more about that crevice. Could be a great place to hide something.

Re: Tools of Chaos
The supplies have been stripped clean. You make it back to the stone bridge and again, so nothing unusual about the fissure, other than it is indeed where the mountain split in two at some point.
