"Well then, do you know what kind of compulsion it is?" Anna asks as she takes a seat and crosses her legs to get comfortable. "Do you know if it is magical, technological, or possibly mundane like hypno-indoctrination? And was it the drug that did it to you, or did it knock you out in order for it to be done?"

"Then they'll call you that until you start something. Hell, the Major will call you that if he knows it'll get under your skin." Cassius explains. "That's part of the entire ordeal. We're supposed to learn from this if we survive."

Suddenly Varo laughs. "Gnash my teeth and punish later. I know that one. The only thing I forgot was not to get caught."

"Yeah. Well some how I got drugged and now I have the strong desire to go and kill my uncle. I have the strong urge to not let anyone stop me from doing so, and I am pretty sure that I will hurt some soon if something doesn't change, or we use those restraints."

He looks a bit frazzled for obvious reasons. Calvin is pretty plain looking for a human most of his distinguishing marks are pretty well hidden unless you are a keen observer. He has short sandy brown hair that is pretty messily cut, perhaps because he does it himself. His nose has been broken a few times, but each time they were set pretty well. And he has several visible scars, one under right eyebrow partially concealed, one on the side of the neck that points up to his ear. Two more are on his palms each identical a single line running across the palm, and large like he had been cut several times.

"Well then, do you know what kind of compulsion it is?" Anna asks as she takes a seat and crosses her legs to get comfortable. While Calvin and Anna talk, Charity takes out her sketchpad and starts sketching the pair.

"I think the drug just knocked me out. The drug wore off pretty quickly after Charity gave me the charchol stuff. I would guess magical but I don't really know. I don't think I blacked out for too long.

Calvin takes a seat on the edge pf the bed his hands clenched into fists.

"Then would you mind if I did a scan over you?" Anna asks before standing up. "It is completely painless." She says, trying to reassure Calvin.

[McBish]

Calvin nods, "Yeah, please go right ahead."

He wouldn't be worried about pain from the scan, his mind is far more concerned with letting any stranger look him over mentally or otherwise. But knowing that he shouldn't be trusting his own judgement he continues to go along with it without a fuss.

The scan depending on exactly how it works should have no real trouble finding a powerful compulsion in Calvin's mind.

The scan uses standard arcane power - nothing divine or eldritch or psionic.

Anna finds the compulsion, and tries to discover how heavily it is rooted in, and whether it has any sort of ability to do damage if someone tries to remove it.

The scan will show that the compulsion making him want to kill his uncle seems to be pretty new and Calvin has been showing some impressive will power fighting it off, so it hasn't rooted itself to deeply. There does seem to be a trigger to go off if someone tries to tamper with it. It may be difficult to tell what it will do, but it should be possible to tell that it will set off a new compulsion of some sort.

The scan may also show several enchantments on him that have been there for a long time, creating several different effects. Some of which might be helping him fight off this mental attack.

Can Anna tell what sort of magic or other power created the compulsion? And whether it matches whatever created the other enchantments?

The compulsions seem to be arcanely powered and created, and quite different from the enchantments which are darker and more diabolical in nature. The enchantments flow from the blades embedded in his arms, while the compulsions have no physical anchor in him.

Anna withdraws from Calvin's mind now.

"You do have a very strong magical compulsion. You also have some other mental enchantments, diabolical in nature, that are tied to the blades in your arms. They seem to be older. Do you want them removed as well?" She asks.

[McBish]

"No, I know about those, they are fine. Will you be able to get rid of the other compulsion?"

Calvin shifts looking a bit uncomfortable talking about those.

Calvin shifts looking a bit uncomfortable talking about those.

"The compulsion is going to be dangerous to remove, because there seems to a trigger enchantment to go off if the main compulsion is tampered with. I'm going to want to put you under anesthesia and strap you down, as if we were doing brain surgery. I'll try to remove the trigger first, and then the main one, but I can't be sure of success." Anna says.

Calvin looks nervous at the mention of being put under anesthesia. Obviously the idea of giving up control of himself is one that alarms him. Even if he knows he isn't really going to be in control till the compulsions are removed. So after a few long seconds of convinicing himself he nods.

"OK. You should know, those other enchantments also make me stronger and faster then humans should be. In case I start going crazy I might not be to easy to stop."

"Thats why you'll be strapped down," Anna says.

Charity notices his nervousness, and also changes text colour for this scene to avoid confusion. "I'll be there the whole time. As soon as it's safe for you to leave, I'll walk you home."

Assuming Calvin cooperates fully, Anna and Charity will lead him to one of the operating theatres. The bed there is heavy duty, and bolted to the floor. There are straps made of a rubber-plastic-silicone composite, reinforced with metal strands, as well as pockets of the same material to enclose the hands. They're used to operating on people with powers. The only people there are the anesthesiologist and his assistant. Nurses and the like aren't really needed for a magical operation.

Calvin nods to Chairty to show that he heard her, though it doesn't look like the message got all the way through his head. Distracted by trying to hold onto any thought that he thinks is his, rather then a planted one, is obviously starting to wear him thin.

Calvin cooperates just fine right up till they are in the operating theater. His entire being screaming at him to run or fight, do something besides just letting them strap him down. Sweat starts to bead up on his forehead, jumpy to the touch, constantly looking towards the exit. All signs of nervousness he is showing.

Assuming they allow him some time to get comfortable, as much as he can, Calvin will eventually lay down in the bed to get strapped down. More then ready to get this magic out of his head.

Anna almost says something when Calvin hesitates, but Charity puts a hand on her arm to stop her. "He'll do it. He just needs a minute. It looks scary."

Once he lays down, Charity and the two medical people there put the straps on him, while Anna meditates to prepare herself for magical "surgery".

"It'll be okay, Calvin. I won't let anyone hurt you." Charity says to him. The anesthesiologist puts the mask over his face, and Calvin should find himself soon falling unconscious - if he reacts as expected to the anesthetic.

Like an abused animal Calvin is a wary person in general. Not trusting his instincts to run is a very hard thing for him to do here. He looks up at Charity and nods. Trust her, she won't let anything happen. Trust her, the one thought in his head that he can be sure wasn't put there by anyone else.

As the anesthetic starts to take effect, and his eyes start to shut, he starts to weakly struggle against the restraints as he slips unconscious. The restraints do their job and hold him in place more then a match for his soon to be unconscious body. The anesthesiologist might notice him being slightly resistant to it, but not so much where he can't adjust the dose safely.

Charity doesn't think she can do anything to help. She hasn't been trained on anesthesia, and that's the only medic thing happening. So she takes a seat and starts sketching.

Anna gets up from her meditation when she's told that everything is ready. She takes a seat at the top of the table and places her hands on either side of Calvin's head, but not quite touching.

An aura forms around her - her own magic strengthened by her previous meditation - and she delves into his mind. Her first goal is to remove the trigger trap on the compulsion, if she can do it safely.

While it may be difficult, given time and patience it should be able to. Whoever placed this was very careful and meticulous, which fortunately makes it easier to be sure she has disabled the trigger.

It takes some time, and when it is over, Anna has to sit and meditate again to rebuild her energy for removing the main compulsion itself.

Was she able to find any idea of what the trigger compulsion might have been, or who might have created it?

After the second meditation, she works on removing the compulsion. Again, she'll be as slow and careful as she can, trying to avoid doing any damage to Calvin's mind.

The trigger compuslion seemed to be highly linked to the aggresive part of Calvin's mind. And it seems likely that whatever would have happened would have been pretty violent had he been free and awake if triggered. Telling who put it there will probably remain a mystery for now, though Anna would probably be able to recgonize ecnhantments cast by the same person from now on. If they find someone they suspect she might be able to figure out more.

Removing the main compulsion will probably take even longer. It is pretty complex for one single task. But it works to read and twist Calvin's thoughts using them against him. Though Calvin's mind itself is working to reject it which will probably help with the whole process.

When Anna is done, she slumps in her chair, exhausted.

"Bring him out of it, but keep the restraints on. I think he's clear." The unstated 'but I can't be sure' is pretty obvious.

The anesthesiologist does his job, and Calvin should soon find himself gradually awakening. Charity is sitting nearby, in his view, still sketching.

Calvin starts to wake up, his body working overtime getting rid of the drugs that knocked him out, and make most people pretty loopy for a good amount of time after waking up. Still he looks pretty out of it, and when he notices he is restrained he starts to struggle, not aware of his surrondings enough to remember where he is.

"Hey, it's okay. Don't struggle. We'll get you out of these as soon as we can, okay?" Charity says, trying to get through to him.

Calvin stops struggling as he looks over at Charity. He remembers what he was doing here. He closes his eyes and searches his mind to see if he is still having thoughts that aren't his. A bit of fear, mostly caution, less rage then before. He looks back over at Chairty.

"I think it worked."

"Good. Let's talk about your uncle for a while." Charity says. She figures if any compulsion is still there, talking about his uncle should bring it out.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Sometimes he annoys the **** out of me. But he trusts me. He treats me like an adult. I don't want to hurt him."

He may still have mixed feelings about his uncle, but what teenager doesn't. Though if Charity has any questions she wants answered now may be a good time to ask. It is often easier to get the truth out of someone just waking up from anesthesia. And he does seem to be a bit groggy still.

It would be a good way to get answers, but not really an ethical way, especially since she promised him that she'd keep him safe at Remnant. She's tempted, but... no. Not here, where other ears could here.

"And do you feel like getting in any fights?" Charity asks.

Well that is nice of her, and he will probably appreciate that once he is thinking clearly again.

"Only if we can figure out who did this to me. And definitely not here. All I really want to do is go home, make sure my uncle is all right. Figure out how to tell him about this."

He sighs, still fidgeting under the restraints.
