Re: Already been to the google mainpage today?
Nope, I haven't been. I've chosen to not use google anymore.

Re: Already been to the google mainpage today?
The reason(s) are varying and would take multiple pages of explanation, yet in the end (or beginning) I would be branded with a label of a few words.
Suffice to say, Google did something I didn't like and no longer has the pleasure of scrying upon my search habits.
A pity. I really want to see what they did.

In that case:
Spoiler
They've done something honouring the 47th anniversary of the original Star Trek series, with the letters for Google mocked up to be the crew members.
There's also essentially a mini point and click adventure with the red shirt 'E' and Captain Kirk 'O' on an away mission.

Re: Already been to the google mainpage today?
Thanks for pointing this out... I don't normally go to Google's main page and I would have been heartbroken if I'd missed this.
It was awesome

DuckDuckGo? Other search provider?
I'm at odds with this. Google still has the best indexes. And if you are signed in you can kill most of the draconian tracking measures...but you have to be signed in. And Chrome is an abomination, privacy-wise.
Man, I miss the days when Google was the ad-free, minimalist alternative.

Re: Already been to the google mainpage today?
Well, Ask Jeeves officially decided to phase out Jeeves, stating that he was retiring, and decided to just call their website ask.com. This happened in 2006 I believe. The reason I said he moved to the UK is because the U.K./Ireland edition of the website brought him back several years later.
