Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
The only reason that I don't incorporate queens into my existing strategies is speed and my own limited capacity to micro. I can't handle both Infestors and Queens in the same battle and I try for highly mobile compositions. I avoid Infestor/Broodlord as my kill sequence, preferring Ultralisks instead.

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
I know queens are good.
They have the spread larva and creep tumor abilities, which are really awesome. Also they have range AND can attack air units.
Every hatchery should have at least one.
That being said, i was only debating their ability as a fighting unit themselves.
They never struck me as doing that much damage (but i guess i only encountered one or two of them at a time), you can't reliably use them for offence (since they're so slow) they can only be built at Hatcheries (of which you'll have...4?5?) and take a long time to make.
If you lose 10 of them, how much time does it take to make them again?
Anyway i guess i'm wrong, and i've never seen mass queens actually played. i guess they can Transfuse each other for effective NI hit points (but i guess after a certain point a group of units can focus-fire one queen in one shot)Originally Posted by actual quote from this forum

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
They are great early game, and late late game. Well, more than 1 per hatch. They are always important 1 per hatch.
Sometimes you can do some crazy stuff with them, but mostly those two times is because they aren't weak to anything early game, and they can keep your T3 stuff alive late game.Originally Posted by Alabenson

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
Queen/infestor/broodlod is awesome. You're very low on gas, due to the high cost of the broods and infestors. Queens make a much better mineral dump than lings, because they're more durable, shoot up (goodbye little vikings), and can keep your high cost units alive. They also move slow, like the rest of your army, so it's less micro intensive.
Here's a pretty good idea of what it looks like:

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
Ultralisks with full armor upgrades and Queen support are kinda fun. They're nigh invulnerable to the lower tier units, and the Queen can top them up easily enough. It's not even hard to Micro that. And the Anti Air capability? Icing on the cake.
Bad news is, super vulnerable to Phoenixes.
Queens + Broods with some Muta/Ling support? Oh yeah, fun times.~~Courage is not the lack of fear~~

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
Hmm sorry for not showing up at all last Saturday but i kind of hand't been on gitp to know anyone was planning to show up. Also as to switching to other days, currently my schedule is pretty free. Like I can do it any day past 2 pst and on most days earlier then that. I would like to get the session going again if we can. My major problem with playing SC2 is that for a while not many people(I play with) played it. So speaking of that my worst match up seems to still be pvz so any ideas on how to deal with it? or should I just always 7 gate robo or some other all-in?

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
It's more that Phoenix with Range upgrade can just peg off a queen, rotate, peg off a queen. You can do it without losses if you're quick on the micro. Most times that strat hits, it's Queen/Festor/BL. The Phoenixes are fast enough that people worse at micro than you are probably going towaste energy trying to Fungal you, and once you're done with the queens, it's child's play to eat up the festors and BL's.
Of course, if they are better at micro than YOU, then it's Fungal+Queen FTW.

He's talking about Ultralisk/Infestor/Queen, not Brood Lord/Infestor/Queen. Bit of a difference in how they play out.

I ended up back in Gold again. I feel alright about it, as heck, they're gonna release HOTS soon and I can get back into platinum while people are all still sorting heads from arses.

I'm not sure how many of you watch lagtv, but this is one of the most amazing games I've seen simply due to how it ends.Originally Posted by Alabenson

Well, I thought I'd try my hand again and my skills have degenerated really badly. Would people like to help me out with some practice and maybe build advice? I forgot everything.

Actually, most sundays work a lot better for me. Blasted weird work schedule and all >_>;The Complete Warrior rules on losing prerequisites for a PrC apply to all books. This bothers me enough to sig it. If you disagree, please PM me, I'm down with being proven wrong.

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
Barcraft this sunday was great.
Leenock won yet again. But the last match had a really cool finish.
Mothership VS Broodlord/Infestor/Ling/Blings.
Mothership dropps a Vortex. Catches a massive pile of Stalkers, unfortunately missed the Infestors, got a bunch of Broodlords.
Infestors proceed to move to safe zone, and unload ALL the eggs they could afford to dump down the toilet.
Vortex ends, Stalkers are surrounded by Infested Marines.
The Zerg answer to the Archon Toilet is the Infested Toilet.
Also, I played Starcraft the Boardgame for the first time the night before Barcraft. Yes, I'm that kind of nerdy. Fun game. Well thought out. Complicated, with long turns. If you play with Conquest Points (first one to X points wins) and Victory Conditions, it's only an evening killer rather than a weekend killer the way Risk can turn out to be.~~Courage is not the lack of fear~~

Re: Starcraft 2: 8 Medivac drop
I was mistaken! (Unless whoever hacked it changed the password back or something). I was lazing around today and decided to try and get into my Bnet account and IT WORKED AND I WAS SHOCKED. I seemingly just forgot I changed my password to it before. (I change passwords like, every 2 weeks. Keeps me feeling safer.) I can actually make the revival session, if you guys want a sucky player who is even worse than he was before.
