Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
Yeah, I need to figure out when this would happen. Friday night is out if I'm doing Little Fears, and Saturday night is out if De is doing Little Fears (even if I felt that I could create the proper ambience in Mid City Grill). De will presumably be in town Thursday night if she has a hair appointment Friday morning, so if the group Rec is traveling with arrives Thursday night/Friday morning we could do this on Friday right after lunch (ie. before the influx of arrivals that causes hosting duties to really take off). Another possibility, if the people that want to play aren't leaving until Monday, is Sunday night (though that's less likely).

Okay. Change of plans.
Boyfriend is coming with.
Um. If that's okay? He's nerdy and pro-games. His dad owns the only Game/Comic shop worth a lick of salt in Tulsa, so its not like I'm bringing a complete outsider with me.Last edited by RabbitHoleLost; 2012-03-26 at 01:31 AM.

Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
Well, we already knew there was a chance we'd need two cars this year. Sounds like that's definite, now.
Holler at me sometime and we can talk logistics._______________________________________________

Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
Instead of bringing multiple cars, we could rent a larger vehicle. The cost should be manageable split 5 (or more?) ways, and it would make things simpler on the road. Probably more fun to have everybody together, too.

Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
To the DC contingent - if a few people were interested in coming from your area, would it be possible for them to carpool/caravan with some/all of you? Planning to invite 3 people (you met one of them briefly in October), and while it's not likely that they'll come, I'm trying to prepare for the best possible result.

Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
Stuff about my game.
SpoilerThe Sweet Sixteen
1. Game system: D&D 3.5
2. Type: Horror – medieval fantasy
3. Party size: So far, Friday after lunch looks like the best time to run this. Four have posted interest, but one may not be able to make it at that time. I should be able to handle six players fairly easily if that many want to play and can provide sheets and backgrounds in time for me to work them into the story.
4. Medium: Pencil and paper, dice, etc.
5. Starting status: 12 gestalt, see below
6. Resources: Standard WBL
7. Desirable classes, professions, etc: Again, see below
8. Allowed races: "Civilized" humanoids
9. Character generation: 32 point buy, average hp per level
10. Alignment: Unless you can make a very compelling case, I prefer that you leave the evil to me.
11. Multi-classing: One of your sides should be initially focused on physical combat (you're merchant guards)
12. Dice rolling: You will do all your own combat rolls. The rest will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes it won’t make sense for you to know whether you succeeded or failed, after all.
13. Homebrew/optional rules in effect: First and foremost, the optional taint rules will be in effect. Unless someone really doesn’t want it, a nat 20 on a crit confirmation roll is a mortal blow. A nat 20 on a skill check/save is not necessarily a success. And there may be others that crop up. For example, I typically allow the vorpal enchantment on any type of weapon.
14. Character background: Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I need to know your characters. I need to know their friends, families, lovers, enemies, everything. If there’s a guy that lost to you at cards five years ago and thinks you cheated, I want to know about it.
15. Action: The focus of the game will be puzzles and roleplaying. I do not anticipate an excessive amount of combat.
16. Allowed rulebooks and supplements: I have access to every printed book, and will have them in electronic format at the meetup. However, some things just won’t make sense in the setting.
Campaign background:The city of Beryl, known as the Jewel of the Desert, has long been famed for its luxury items – silk, ivory, poetry, silver, pepper, dyes. Wizards and sorcerers travel from far and wide to study in its fabled towers. Over the centuries, merchants have been braving the month-long journey through the desert to make themselves fabulously wealthy.
Across the desert lie the mountains called the Dragon’s Fangs. At the foot of the most commonly-used pass lies Purness. Once nothing more than a crossroads, over the years it has grown into a city to rival Beryl herself.
Palantir Dorshad is a successful merchant from Purness. The PCs are his personal bodyguard. At the start of the game, they are returning to the city of their birth after spending the last three months with the merchant’s caravan.

Re: Trogland Meetup Episode VI: The Return of the Forumites
1: Gestalt is a rules variation which essentially lets you create a custom class with the best features of any two other classes. It's an unusual choice for a horror-themed game.
2: Taint is a rules variation which makes Evil a manifest, physical force of corruption in the game. (Frodo's gradual corruption by The One Ring could be represented in this way.)
3: WBL stands for Wealth By Level, and refers to a chart on p.135 of the DMG which lists starting wealth for characters entering a game above Level 1._______________________________________________
