Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
I'm in the the Tarquin is overrated camp, but I'm gonna give it to him. Just a hunch.
I really like Qarr and you picked my favorite quote from him, but Sabine. The whole "she's not mad about Nale sleeping with someone else, she's mad about Nale stealing her kill" twist made her one of my favorites.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
The Order has been battered by two acid balls, then dropped back down to the earth from their flying carpet. Now they think they're fighting Thog. I'm with Gift Jeraff in the 'Tarquin is overrated' camp.. but I also think the advantage will be his, if it isn't already.
And Sabine.Last edited by ThomasMink; 2012-04-21 at 03:36 PM.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Tarquin, most definately, if we're going by the OotS' history in fights. What normally happens is that their opponents have the advantage right up until the final blows, at which point the OotS pulls some cockamamie solution out of their collective sphincter and it happens to work. The rest of the Guild, or Team Evil, or Draketooth Revenants, or someone, will intervene long before the final blows between Tarquin and the OotS are about to be struck.
Round 1, Match 6
"See, the first lesson of being 18-inches tall is: Find someone more powerful than you are, and glue your lips to their ass."
VS
"I know lots of tricks that'll help him get over it. Maybe we'll do some of them on top of your corpse."
They're both contemptable and fairly one-dimensional, but at least Sabine's not simply a clueless mook who thinks she's smarter than she really is. Unlike Qarr.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
I was almost going to abstain from voting, but I eventually decided to give it to Tarquin. I'm definitely not in the "Tarquin is overrated" camp, but I also think the Order is fairly competent. But I think that Tarquin already has the advantages of 1. surprise and 2. not having been bathed in acid. Oh, and 3. the Order thinks he's a lot dumber than he is.
Also, Sabine, no question. Qarr is funny, but I like Sabine a lot better. It probably has something to do with Strip 804.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Miko was able to defeat the Order 5v1 twice (though with a bit of luck on her side), and I figure Tarquin's got about the same level and situational advantage. So while I'm not sure he could defeat them all outright, yes he will have the advantage by the time things are interrupted.
And Sabine.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Tarquin will probably act stupid and give the Order time to underestimate his ability, then suddenly pull a move they weren't expecting from "Thog". So I think the Order will have the early advantage.
And I hate them both, but Qarr barely wins this one, due to him not being a vapid demon-whore.I am a:

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
I will be surprised if there is a clear advantage either way. From a story point of view, I think we will have to give a slight edge to Tarquin just because he will need to hold his own until the rest of the LG can arrive to drive OotS down into the temple. After all, Elan can't defeat his father if he doesn't know it is his father... I hope for some neat trickery to keep Tarquin alive, which should be interesting to read. So... by an edge... I will give the advantage to Tarquin simply by keeping the Order engaged at the top of the ziggurat, which I would bet is his goal. Nothing real clear cut or overwhelming though.
As for the two evils... I would have to edge towards... eh. I dislike both. Abstain.78% of all DM's start their first campaign in a tavern. If you're among the 22% who didn't, copy and paste this into your signature and tell us where you DID begin. The players were attacked individually on the road on the way to town by werewolves. He is too high level and can take on the Order of the Stick.

Qarr's capacity to summon more powerful creatures has been quite limited.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Actually, that might be an even more dramatic ending. Tarquin throws himself on Elan's rapier (or lute, since he doesn't seem to have a rapier out) and removes his helmet to reveal that Elan has killed his own father, *gasp*.
But I don't think Tarquin envisions his dramatic end yet. And because I don't see the Linear Guild interfering to save him (maybe Malack and the secretary) I think Tarquin will take the lead before the rest move in to rob him of the victory and/or so Sabine can kill Haley, forcing the retreat.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Tarquin doesn't want to die or be deposed in the immediate future. He's quite happy living the high life and being a tyrant. So it's not as if he's deliberately going to commit suicide, or throw the fight.
He just recognizes that, as a tyrant, he is likely to be eventually defeated, and likes the epic-ness of it being by Elan.

I say Tarquin will have the edge, simply because he is a Villain, and villains don't atack the whole group without a masterplan.
I like Sabine because she has way more development. Tough choice, the imp is funny.

Reader Poll for #850
The Order vs Tarquin! In the short time they have, who do you think will gain the advantage?
OotS: 3 - 15.00%
Tarquin: 17 - 85.00%
Round 1, Match 6
: 1 - 5.56%
: 17 - 94.44%
In a surprising twist, Sabine wins the most one-sided contest yet.

No. Although I slightly hope he does so people stop speculating about it.
And I'm actually going to go with Nale here. It should be interesting to see how this particular poll pans out.

I don't know...I'm betting on him dying next in the death pool thread for some reason, so I guess yes, even though I have my doubts.
Lien is a fine lass, but I like petty villains who admit to and enjoy being Evil. Nale.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Well, since I think the Oracle likes giving prophesies that "barely" come true, especially to those he doesn't particularly like, no, I think Belkar will die nearer to the end of the year.
And I'm with Gift Jeraff on this one. Lien is fine, but all she really has is 1. a shark and 2. a pretty funny joke. Nale.Last edited by MeanMrsMustard; 2012-05-02 at 11:56 AM.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Going with no,my default because I don' want Belkar to die ever. He's the best!
And I've never liked Nale much. Lien is an interesting character and I hope we get an arc of her with O'Chul. Until then, she's still junk girl and the fish gutter.Last edited by Rorrik; 2012-05-01 at 09:44 AM.

Yes, Belkar will die.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Honestly not a huge Balkar fan, and am sick enough of the speculation that a yes would be very tempting, but I still have to vote no. I think it is more likely to be later in the overall plot arc, likely the final gate.
I have to vote for Lien. One, she has a lot of potential for development which I think we will see later when the group moves on to the final gate, and two, Nale has outlived his interesting-ness (is that even a word? eh...) and quite frankly I am a bit board of his character. I find the newer members of the LG to be more compelling.78% of all DM's start their first campaign in a tavern.
