Willow steps back out of the way of the competition and watches, as if it were thoroughly beneath her to take part.

Devi stares thoughtfully at the flagpole, then goes to press a few buttons on her golden bracelet. A blast of lightning thunders down out of the sky, transporting a small but long metal cylinder into her hand. She marches up to the flag pole, heedless to any danger that might be coming from the other students!

"Stand back everyone, please."

With that cheerful announcement, she activates her lightsabre and extends the long and purple blade. Which she then swings at the flag pole, intending to cut the entire thing down to get the flag down. Magtok said nothing about avoiding property damage!

At first the Doc gave Alan a glare from behind his glasses, but he turns his attention to Devi as she walks up to the pole. Hating to be beaten to the punch, he pulls out his keys and presses a button on the locking device. His flying saucer decloaks next to him with a Vwoam, and he hops into it. The saucer floats up above every ones heads. He'll let Devi make her move. He'll be there to snatch the flag.

Berserker seems to share the same thoughts as Ozzy and Willow. She will stand next to Willow, rather bored she will ask "So, which fool do you think will win this little game? My money's on Sunshine over there." Because destruction is always the answer to every problem, that is why she believes Devi will get the flag.

Starfish's energy-chain has already, at this point, wrapped around the top of the flagpole. Having intended to just tug hard enough to snap the flag down to her, this now has an effect similar to pulling a tree down when someone's just cut the base due to Devi's cutting.

Her grin flashes away as the flagpole starts to lean her way, with her wrist still attached to the thing by the chain.

"...Oh hell."

The cyborg ignores the obnoxious dragon, instead reaching out with one arm to hold Pat closer. The cat's already out of the bag, and since he's never been one to be particularly ashamed of anything he does, Magtok drops that silly secrecy thing he'd been doing a few minutes ago. He opens his mouth to say something to her, but then immediately finds his attention swallowed up by the big scary flagpole slowly tumbling down to the ground. Jeez, these people are fudging nuts.

"Victory shall be mine!"

Devi grins wildly and deactivates her lightsabre. She dodges out of the way of the falling flagpole and then looks around. It looks like some of the other cadets are too cowardly to join in, but Doc and Starfish look to be problems. Well, the alien will be finished quickly enough by the falling flagpole, so she just has to deal with the chimp. The technomage presses a few buttons on her bracelet again and points her arm at the flying saucer. Again, a bolt of lightning falls out of the sky toward her, but this time it's trajectory should take it through the ship! Luckily for Doc, it's not a real lightning bolt, but Devi hopes that the flash of light will blind or at least disorientate him enough for him to miss the flag. Oh yes, the teleportation device also transports a beaker of liquid into her hand. It's probably quite dangerous.

She is insane.

And this is when Alan gets bored with this whole flag grab event.
So he sits down, lays his rifle in his lap, eats a bit of jerky, and watch others participate.

The good doctor sees his opening when the pole tips over. Putting pedal to the metal, the saucer zips towards the falling pole, a metal claw on a jointed arm extends from the bottom, reaching to snatch the flag. Which is when, of course, Devi's lightning strikes out at him. The false lightning shocks surprises him, making him wobble in a vain attempt to avoid it, missing the flag and accidentally knocking into the flagpole. Luckily, flying saucers are made of stern stuff, so the chimp is still airborne. Seething with anger, Doctor Titanium Hollywood Harrierjet turns the saucer around and rises upward several feet. Pressing a button on the console, the ship cloaks with that certainly now famous sound effect of VWOAM. He then moves the ship to his left, ready to make another swoop down when the opportunity arises.

Pat smirks at the likely new henchmen and leans against Magtok, feeling comfortable as she watches the soon-to-be disaster. "Amused?" She asks him.

Phity-Plat on the other hand, decides to sidestep a bit to make sure that the flag isn't going to fall his way, and pulls the banjo from his hat before putting it back on. With a quick hum, he tunes the instrument before strumming it slowly, keeping an eye on things.

'Ashradosvoriss' watches everybody fighting for the flag and chuckles. Let them fight for it, he thinks, and he'll take it from them once they've exhausted themselves, as any true villain would. Before any of that, though, he turns to Magtok and says "Just to be absolute, I postulate from your directive that we are to produce that distinct gonfalon and no facsimile. Am I veridical?"

"Of course. It's like watching a train wreck, except the train is made of-"

...What? Gonfalon? What in the Flying Spaghetti Monster's great big noodly tentacles is a gonfalon? And veridical? Is that even a word? That has to be like, French, or Elven, or Elf-French or something. Magtok takes a moment or two to stare blankly at the wretched elf spouting these horrible gibberish words at him, and then shakes his head after consulting an online dictionary on just about every third word or so.

"No, no fake flags. Now get out of my face."

Well, since no one has stepped in to stop it, and indeed someone has even crashed their ship into the already descending pole, it falls down hard on Starfish before she can dodge out of the way. She might have been able to make it, too, if it hadn't suddenly got the shove.

With a clong, the flagpole collides with her (thankfully closed) bubble-helmet, sending shudders through her body as if she were caught between a hammer and an anvil. She is lucky to have had her helmet closed, as it manages to sustain only a small crack where her head might not have been so lucky. The alien manages to avoid a concussion, although the force is more than enough to drive her to the ground in a semi-conscious state. She'll be sore later, I'm sure.

Devi skips over to where the flagpole just landed on Starfish.

"Sorry!"

The Magtern does not sound sorry at all. Using her laser sword, she goes to cut the flag from the pole and then grabs it in that same hand, holding it gingerly so the weapon doesn't hit it too. If she's successful with this, she'll try to make her way back to Magtok, beaker of unknown substance held ready in her other hand.

Alan doesn't seem to care much about the whole thing anymore.
Though he seems to be a bit amused when the flagpole hits Starfish.

As Devi bends down to scoop up the flag, Plat takes a couple steps towards her, flips up his banjo, grabs the neck and swings the larger part at the back of her head with all his considerable strength.

He hated the banjo.

((Eep! Sorry. ))

As the young man was handed the papers, he looked at the Student Loan form. He suddenly paled just a bit as he saw the potential collateral.

"What is this?! I didn't know I'd have to do this!"

"What? You didn't expect them to ask for that sort of thing?"

"No! I mean who asks for this sort of thing? I mean, I could use my soul as collateral or something. I mean, who runs around collecting souls?"

The ball of lightning face-claw-palms at the notion. "Montana, you can't be serious..."

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

The ball of lightning then seems to notice what exactly is going on. "Monty, now's not the time, go get the flag."

"Wait, what?"

"The FLAG, MONTY, THE FLAG!" The ball of lightning says as he hurriedly points towards what's going on.

At that point, CD notices what's going on, promptly shoves the papers into the pockets of his jeans, and takes off for the flagpole...wearing nothing but socks on his feet.

An opening! Doctor Titanium Hollywood Harrierjet goes on the attack! Still cloaked and zooming down he won't directly attack Devi or Plat. As he dives down diagonally, he'll work the metal claw to try and swoop and snatch the flag, then shoot back up at the previous swoop's inverse. If he snatches it, his claw will withdraw into the ship, cloaking the flag as well.

"OW!"

Devi is hit in the head by a banjo! That hurts! However, the Magtern doesn't seem particularly... knocked out by this. I mean, that's something that would probably give a normal person a concussion right there. All it does is make Devi swear. And, of course, gives Doctor Titanium Hollywood Harrierjet the opening to snatch the flag from her.

Devi turns a baleful glare on Plat, her red eyes revealed because her sunglasses have been knocked out of the way. She jerks her hand forward and hurls the liquid in the beaker at Plat. If it splashes on him... it really won't do anything at first. It'll feel like water. Until she freezes it solid with her temperature magic. Then he'll be in trouble, covered in heat-sapping and movement-impairing "ice".

"Huh. Brah can take a hit." Ozzy says, still grinning. Does that thing ever fade?

Salixtra remains out of the fracas for now, standing near Pat and Magtok.

As for CD...well, one thing can be said, that kid can book it when he wants to. By the time Devi's already retaliated, he's practically cleared his way over to the where the flagpole lay in the field. He reaches for the flag, probably accidentally creating a dramatic moment where he reaches for the flag at the same time as The Doctor.

Plat is hit by the flask and soon stiff, encased in a layer of thick frost. He appears immobilized at the very least, but then a slow beat begins to emanate from the elf and the ice begins to melt. Oddly enough, it melts away from his heart first, showing a small red glow. When the ice drips off, instead of showing him shirtless, it reveals a set of black pants, glossy black shoes, black shirt, and a deep purple blazer. Most striking is that instead of his hat, he has greased back black hair and smirk.

The beat continues, picking up, and more heat begins to emanate from his body. Reaching up into the air, he snaps his fingers.

"Doo...doo..." a pair of ghostly voices begin.

Looks like the place is in for a treat. Plat's going to sing. Even better, the beat sounds like it's going to be something even better than Rap.

Doo-Wop.

"IIIIIIIIce...aaaangel..." Plat begins to sing, pouring his heart and soul into the song he's making just for Devi.


"IIIIIIIIIce...aaaangel,
The one that I adore...
I wanted your ire,
Just so I could reveal...
My heart's inner fire.
A heart in-love with yoooooou."

"With yoooooou..."

As he sings, he takes a step towards her, sweeping one arm gently out to her, while the other clutches his chest. The music should feel as if it's moving through all those listening, carrying them away, but the magic in it is only targetting Devi. It should make her feel warm, more open, and possibly even charmed that he's singing to her.

Of course, that's beyond what such charming acts normally cause someone to feel.

A dramatic double grab it is. Of course the ship presumably has greater momentum than CD. If CD doesn't have a good grip he won't be holding on for long. If he does, he might want to start going "Whee!" because he is now airborne with the saucer.

"Aww. How sweet."

Devi smiles widely and takes a step toward Plat. She tosses the empty beaker over her shoulder, toward the people struggling to get the flag, and goes to gently place her now-free hand on his arm. Her red gaze fixates on the man's own eyes.

"I like your fire. But can you handle mine?"

Her expression turns maniacally gleeful and her fingers tighten; the temperature mage uses her power to multiply the warmth Plat has created. Suddenly, the dripping "ice" and the liquid increase greatly in temperature, creating a cloud of scalding steam around them. Devi is, as always, unharmed by this, as her wide and adoring grin attests. I already mentioned how crazy she is, right?

The magic continues to flow, but Plat has stopped singing. He seems immune to the scaldling steam and moves to pull the Thermomancer close and into a "heated" kiss.

She wouldn't be the first crazy woman he's dealt with.

Capture the Flag

Salixtra pointedly looks anywhere but at Plat trying to romance the thermomancer. Oh look. A bit of imaginary dirt on one of her perfectly manicured nails needs to be brushed off.

And what a heated kiss! Devi gives it her all, the crazy woman she is. She likes a man who doesn't get third degree burns. Apparently.

But the thermomage only has time for one passionate kiss. Then she's got her lightsaber pointed threateningly at Plat's gut, a button away from extending its purple plasma blade through his innards.

"I'll be happy to continue this later, fire-boy. But I've got a flag to capture. It'd really be best if you stayed out of the way."

With a too-wide grin, she tries to disengage from Plat and turn back to the flag! The rapper can probably stop her if he wants to brave the lightsaber, but she's now focused on her previous goal.

The man has held on to a motorcycle going almost 300 MPH.

The man has climbed a sheer wall and held onto the lip of a sign 10 stories up off of the ground just to finish a sweet graffiti design.

The man once made the bicycle wheels transform so he can speed up real fast. Downhill.

He has a good grip.

And so he is lifted off of the ground as instinct causes him to cling onto the flag. The lightning ball by his shoulder seems to have a look of surprise, before suddenly leaping into CD's chest and disappearing, leaving only a tiny bit of static electricity in his wake. Behind the goggles, CD's eyes glow for a short moment, before he's carried off.

Plat just smirks at Devi. "Go capture your flag. I just thought I should get your attention." He tells her with a wink before swatting her rear when she turns away. Afterward, if he's not stabbed, he'll take a step back and hum to himself merrily as he watches the spectacle.

In the meantime, Pat just rests her head on Magtok's shoulder, popping popcorn into her mouth idly, bored.
