Well this site is generally pretty cool. Kinda like "as long as you don't use it to make anyone uncomfortable intentionally (most of these types of things would make people uncomfortable if they were straight, and in that case, they'd be on the wrong forum . That or have to break out the BoEF, and there's some messed up shiz in that thing...) and you can still maintain effective characters/intelligent conversation then we're cool." I happen to belong to the nerd and performing arts communities. They're pretty cool about that kind of stuff.
And so doth the winds of destiny change my course for better or worse for the whole of time.

    Welcome! *GLOMPs new person* :3

I think GiantITP has seen weirder things than sexual orientations named after synonyms for being happy. Including the clear lack of san-i-ty (I think it's a sort fo fashion sense, or maybe a dairy product! ^_^) among half the community. Internalised phobias, LGBTA-ness and justified paranoia should fit in just fine.

Everybody at school is making a huge deal out of my haircut. One comment I've gotten a few times (besides to obvious "It looks good") is that it looks more masculine. What do you all think about "masculine" or "feminine" hairstyles and how our perceptions of them are influenced by culture?

Edit: Amusingly, I have less facial hair than usual because I decided to shave off my sideburns. So I feel like my face should look less masculine right now. But whatever.

Edit: I just saw this on facebook. Looks like people are still reading that article.

I personally find the gendering of hairstyles a wee bit irritating and quite odd. It's less than a Kobold's lifetime ago that it was acceptable, or even expected, for all to wear their hair at shoulder-length or longer. But now it is nearly controversial for those assigned male to wear it any longer than was practical in early 20th century warfare.

That particular fashion saddens me, but that stems from me being a big fan of the 18th century fashions. Nothing to do with Angel or any scientists of that era. Really.
    >_>
    <_<

Hairstyles for those assigned female are more diverse than ever, though. So the recent development has not been completely terrible. Even if people think I look silly with my current haircut.

The drill hairstyle that's gotten popular in anime and manga lately is weird, but I could only find a few pictures of real women wearing it. Another strange one is long hair with one side of the head shaved. What is even up with that?

There is also another variation of the long hair partly shaved hairstyle and that's long hair on top but the sides are shaved. It looks bloody weird.

    WHATAREYOUTALKINGABOUTOFCOURSEI'MCHILLEDOUT?!!

I'm not buzzing around anxious, I'm more like silent pool of despair anxious. Partly because I'm feeling overwhelmed, and partly because fatigue pretty much rules out buzzing!

Maybe I'll pop into Collegeitp. I did see it, but I wasn't up for reading/posting.

    Cute little comic.
Talking with the counsellor was good. Unfortunately, the system is overwhelmed (apparently one in eight students use it and they never have enough money) so I can only get an appointment every three weeks. Which means twice more, once before my exams and once after.

And that is the most adorable comic I've seen in a long time! I especially like the little trans man. They're all so cute!

But now it is nearly controversial for those assigned male to wear it any longer than was practical in early 20th century warfare.
Is it really, though? We are on opposite sides of the world, and perhaps it is different in Garland or among the kobold diaspora. However, excepting the military and business formal situations (and even then), men's hairstyles are laissez faire. I don't feel that the strictures you cite are at all in place anymore.

Yes kinda but with even longer hair. There is one girl in my university department that has this style and her top hair goes all the way down to her stomach.

Standards are loosening up more these days, in a lot of places, but most people I've encountered growing up in New York and New England expect males to wear short hair. I've even run into strangers who told me I should have short hair.

    Edit:

Weird. Though I have seen some crazy-long mohawks. I think the world record was twenty-seven inches tall, or thereabout. But the longest I've usually seen people wear regularly is only a couple of inches.
