Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
Closest I know of is Mort.
Please take care! The sheer number of pony puns in just the first two episodes would put me under the table!

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
Well I'm sorry to say I don't have as much alcohol in the house as I thought I did (Only three bottles of beer, should of checked earlier.) So drunken pony time will happen tomorrow night. In the mean time I will be taking suggestions, for drinks and a solidified ruleset for the game.
Edit: You know what, I'm going to do this a little differently tomorrow, I will be playing a drinking game according to rules set by the ponythread. But I will pre-drink so I can be fun throughout. Also i will take requests for specific episodes you want me to shout at drunkenly.Last edited by Digestive Man; 2012-03-23 at 12:25 AM.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
I showed off some of my old drawings to a sixth grade class I was subbing for, and discovered a brony! We brohooved and he told me his favorite pony was Derpy. It was a heartwarming moment of awesomeness. Also, the rest thought Rarity was awesome.

Awww! My Little Pony!
I love them so much. They are cute and awesome. Though my friends don't get my excitement. They think I'm a bit retarded because I'm watching this cartoon.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
I agree with you. Taking things too seriously is going to detract from the adventure. I don't mind the oddities of the show, the construction machines, cameras, vacuum cleaners that can suck out rainbow colors.
I say just roll with it.
...just don't roll a 1.
As for Ponifying everything, did I link my 2001: A Celestial Odyssey before? I can't remember.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
Standard. I'd be right there with you except I'm never awake on Monday mornings because I don't have class until 3:00 PM on Mondays.
Awesome. Do you sub in a particular subject? I wonder if there's a trend for more bronies in a math or science class, although I suppose in 6th grade there isn't any differentiation yet.
It's a good movie, although seeing it as an adult is kind of weird because you'll be much more conscious of the history and racism that actually went on.
That said, Rainbow Dash actually singing Colors of the Wind or Just Around the Riverbend would be pretty spectacular.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
Old thread is already done. Wow.
Right, so, opinions on Merriweather, then.
SpoilerI didn't really like Mare Do Well either, yeah. But I liked the Hearth's Warming Eve and Putting Your Hoof Down. I really dug the design of the Windigos, and Iron Will was one of the awesomest things I've seen in awhile.
I haven't been keeping up with this thread, as I've said, so previous complaints and such are enigmas to me. I didn't mind Pinkie Pie acting all nuts in Putting Your Hoof Down; I suppose character consistency is not as important to me as to the other posters on this forum! I really just care about being entertained, about finding things clever, about cool animations and stuff. Which those episodes all had a good deal of!
Again, I think sometimes you guys take this show too seriously. I just try and enjoy it! Not that, uh, I'm asking you to stop taking it seriously, or anything. I just find the level scrutiny this show is subjected to to be shockingly high.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
I can see that, especially the fact that her heroic defending of John Smith was theorized to really be an elaborate ceremony for the Powhatan to establish peace with the settlers.
Also that she actually married John Rolfe, the father of the American Tobacco industry
And she died in a raid that sparked the conflict anewAvatar based on artwork by Jabari Weathers

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
this was one of the drinking games that has shown up for MLP;FiM
Spoiler
Which I think will lead to hospital trips, hard. seriously every pony drinking game so far I've seen seems to be designed to bring down the average man into alcohol poisoning. Maybe bronies just have higher tolerance?"Winning with friendship means winning at life!"

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
People were split on Pinkie Pie in that episode. I liked her Bugs Bunny impression. The larger issue was that they ran out of time and Fluttershy just suddenly solving her problem was a bit weird, plus a lot of people reacted to that episode by saying "Fluttershy would never do that!" or some variation thereof. Personally, I just think the episode had pacing problems, but otherwise was a really good premise.
Yes it was. Seriously though, let's not start this again.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
Something that kind of nags at me (and a reason why I should watch more ponies) is that it seems Merriwether only used a song in Hearth's Warming Eve. I mean, I don't want to say that a couple of people like the show because of the song, but as someone who watches Phinneas and Ferb, which prides itself on the song per story concept, it's an interesting coincidence that there's a lack of it in the episodes that aren't as well-received. Perhaps those episodes had songs written that helped move the plot on, but had to be cut due to time restraints?
...MacOS dictionary suggests correcting "Phinneas" with "Ponies," by the way.
Also, "Smile, Smile, Smile," was not a good song. It was an excellent ritual."Okay, so I'm going to quick draw and dual wield these one-pound caltrops as improvised weapons..."
---
"Oh, hey, look! Blue Eyes Black Lotus!" "Wait what, do you sacrifice a mana to the... Does it like, summon a... What would that card even do!?" "Oh, it's got a four-energy attack. Completely unviable in actual play, so don't worry about it."

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
It's hard for me to consider anything Fluttershy does to be out of character, since I suspect that her normal personality is basically a heavily entrenched defense mechanism. Break through that somehow, and she has no idea how to react.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
I reject your fanon and substitute my own.
I like to think of her regular personality as being her most genuine self. Fluttershy is most happy when she can be nice and everyone else is nice to her. She likes caring for animals and helping other ponies. I see her as having two other related aspects of her personality.
1. An underlying confidence that only comes out to protect others
2. Difficulty coping with stress caused by frustration.
These two things are basically the same personality aspect, but cast as a positive and a negative. That is, Fluttershy's kind personality is supported by a certain internal strength, but it only comes out when one of friends needs protection or when she's frustrated past a certain point. When she's protecting a friend, she expresses her confidence positively and has enough force of will and empathy to stop other creatures by sheer force of will. When she's frustrated, she expresses her confidence negatively by letting it build up and build up until eventually it all explodes out at once.

Re: My Little Pony XL: The Plot Thickens!
I'm a bit tired of most of the human-obsessed Lyra meme, at least the part about wanting hands (there are some seriously creepy pictures out there). Stalker Lyra is fun, though. :3
Nice! Bring them all into the Herd.
Welcome! Don't let the haters get to you. Maybe they'll realize soon enough just how fun this show actually is.
Nice. ^^
