Hey CMOTdibbler, would you mind clarifying your location tag a little? [The Green Dragon Tea Shop] isn't terribly useful as it doesn't tell us which city, or indeed, which timeline the Tea Shop is located in.

I only ask since despite our earlier resolution to keep everything contained within Republic City to start with to give everyone a chance to interact with each other, we ended up spreading ourselves not only all over the world, but all over time as well.

So, my character:

Name: Dazu

Nation: Fire

Appearance: Dazu is in his early twenties, with an average height and build, with medium length black hair and brown eyes. His most distinctive feature is the bright red-orange hat that he almost always wears. Other than that he's not terribly distinctive looks-wise.

Personality: Daz's personality could best be described as laid-back and sort of passive. He's not very serious about things, he's just about having a good time, without letting things like goals or duty or obligations get in the way. Makes for a pretty happy person.

Abilities: Combat-wise, there's not much to mention. Daz never needed to learn any self-defense. He can firebend, but he puts it to use at his job in the factory, working in the boiler room. Not to say that he's a very good employee. One skill-set he does have, though, is music. He's a pretty good tsungi-hornist, and he plays a mean shamisen. He's also got luck on his side. (usually)

Backstory: Dazu has always operated on the philosophy of "if it sounds fun, do it." This has made a somewhat normal life quite a bit more exciting. His tendency not to think things through has occasionally gotten him into trouble, but he's got a long lasting streak of luck going on currently, so it's usually worked out well. Unfortunately, though, the category of "things that sound fun" never included what you would call "developing useful life skills" so he's spent the last few years in various dead end factory jobs. But in his spare time, he usually plays on street corners just for fun, and to keep things interesting.

Relationships: Various friends and co-workers. He's the only one in his family who lives in Republic City, but he keeps in touch.

...I've got two concepts. Both Firebending prodigies.

The main difference is area of origin. They even learnt from the same masters.

One's a Fire Nation girl who's essentially good at Firebending in the same way my fanon says Aang is good at Airbending- it's instinctual to her, which means she's very good, but she's not so good at teaching (Tenzin does joss my fanon in that area, though...).

The other one's a Sun Warrior. Who's been sent out into the world to learn and eventually be an ambassador. I slightly prefer the first, but the second has less overlap with Kid Kris' idea.

Yes, I'm talking about Ran and Shaw in terms of masters.

Dang, I do hope there is-Your character sounds like an absolutely perfect foil for Chen, who had to scratch and scrape for every inch of his power and is still only average at best in talent.

Yet he's pretty good at teaching people, simply by virtue of spending most of his life being taught by others.

Hotaru Akiyama

Heritage: Fire Nation

Description: Hotaru is a woman in her early to mid-20s, with long, black hair, light skin, and golden eyes- in many ways, a classic Fire National. While well-muscled, she's more toned towards speed than outright strength, which is rather obvious on the occasions she goes sleeveless. She adjusts her clothing to fit the situation, most often going for light clothing.

Personality: While fairly confident in herself, Hotaru is a bit of a loner, and sometimes has difficulty making friends. That said, she's highly loyal to those she does make. She has a strong belief in showing that Firebending doesn't have to be used for destructive purposes, and can be used to protect others.

Abilities: Hotaru's firebending is very good. VERY good. She's almost instinctive in how she moves, and her blue fire adds extra power. Her fighting style is highly mobile, using Fire Jets to move around a battlefield incredibly quickly and using her agility to avoid attacks.

Backstory: To come. I know what I want, I just want to get this down now.

If she's in Old Wounds then there's going to be little overlap between her and Kazuko anyway, what with there being almost 50 years difference in time.

Kazuko, anyway, has less of an instinctual mastery of firebending, but rather a very precise, controlled one honed over years of meticulous practice. She's certainly capable of creating fire hot enough to burn blue, but usually restrains herself from such dangerous heat. She's not especially agile either - she moves as much as necessary while firebending and not a millimeter further, her strikes land with as much force as necessary, and no more.

Not that she would be striking anyone anyway.

(The "blue fire = hotter = Azula's just that damn good" thing was mostly a bonus anyway - the main purpose of giving Azula blue fire was to emphasize her cold-blooded personality in contrast to Zuko's more hot-headed temperament.)

And serves a similar purpose with Hotaru, although it's less 'cold-blooded' and more 'remarkably calm for a firebender'.

Plus, I think it looks cool.

She might turn up in actual Republic City, although she'll be goddamm scary in combat by that point with 50 or so years of experience.

Which she'll be using against... who, exactly?

At any rate, get in line, because I count exactly a billion other characters who are master benders, on top of being super martial artists who merge their bending and their martial arts together in a flowing blend of AWESOME while using their shields as a weapon and their weapons as a shield and are generally brilliant at fighting but that doesn't matter because they are intensely HONORABLE and COURAGEOUS and would never use their fighting abilities to actually fight people because they respect all life and desire to protect and to serve instead of kill, maim and destroy which brings up the question of why they would hone their fighting skills to such an absurd degree anyway but one shouldn't question such things because they are absolutely pure incorruptible bastions of purity pureness who understand the value of tolerance and treat all benders and non-benders equally despite coming from a background of strife and violence but they have risen above all that and oh dear look at me it appears I have fallen asleep from sheer boredom.

Actually, her main flaw will be what I view as the classic Firebender Fatal Flaw- she can take her drive too far at times.

And I'm not sure... actually, she might not have all that much combat experience by that time, because you're right- she'll probably have retired from fighting in most cases by that time.

...maybe a Pro-Bender for the Republic City portion?

She'll be how-old by then? From what I can gather, Pro-Bending is much like Bender Boxing-You're considered a dinosaur by age 35, the rigours of the ring being rather too great for the majority of peoples' bodies by that age.

Name Jun Lee
Nation Earth Kingdom
Description Jun is a young 16 year old earthbender from Ba Sing Se. She has dark maroon hair in a 'late zuko' haircut. She doesn't wear traditional earth kingdom clothing, but instead prefers the loose, light clothing of the sand benders and will commonly be seen in that. Her eyes are a light, pale blue and her skin is very pale and flawless.
Personality Jun is a naturally calm girl. She never had any family problems and was raised well, giving her a very pleasant personality as well. At times, however, she can be a bit naive and independent.
Abilities Jun has very standard earth bending skills. Her parents signed her up for classes and she thought herself the rest. She also picked up some beginner sandbending while on vacation in the dessert.
Backstory Jun grew up in a good family in middle class Ba Sing Se. She was an only child, so she became very spoiled, but never acts it. When her mother was pregnant with her, she got attacked in an alley, one night, returning from a late party. She lost a few belongings, but from a blow to the stomach, infant Jun developed a slight stutter. Not only does her voice stutter, but her body seems to stutter as well, when certain muscles tense up. She doesn't let this bother her though.
After 16 years with her parents, Jun became bored with her average life in the city. She set out on a journey to Omashu to stay with her Uncle, who would teach her more advanced earthbending.
Relationships Jun is very close to her parents, and writes them often, but has no other relationships.

Save the full-on OOC discussion for this thread, please, and if you must make out-of-character comments in the main roleplay, it would be appreciated if you made sure they were clearly so.
