Actually he is gripping her upper arms. This greatly restricts how much she can move her arms.

Until Agatha throws his grip off; she's got much better leverage like that. Unless, of course, 'Gil' has a ton more upper body strength.

Dude hurled a giant clank bare handed with a bullet wound in his shoulder. If he had to be, he could restrain her easily.

Gil is holding Agatha up in the air. She has no leverage at all.

Lift arms sideways away from the body. "Gil's" grip, since it doesn't go all the way around agatha's arms, then slips off as she drops down. Exception, "Gil" has excellent finger strength.

But keep in mind, THIS is an upper arm grab by a guy capable of flinging giant clanks around! He could probably shatter her arm just by clenching.

Gil could be demonstrating that he's not under Agatha's control. After all, he's not exactly using the big guns here.

Has she actually flat-out sparky-voice definitely-an-order ordered him to do anything yet? He could be trying to get her to do that to prove it. Which wouldn't work if she was knocked out.

Sure, that could work, as could any number of things... but they're on a rain-slick roof. This is not the place for a knock-down fight, because there's a lot more "down."

Oooooh, that makes a lot more sense. I'm leaning towards this theory now.

Perhaps Gil has told a few of his trusted friends what he thinks is going on, and he's telling them to watch him closely to prove that Agatha isn't the Other.

    I make games.

"...I worry that modern gaming is gradually shrinking the wide spectrum of gameplay mechanics into a single narrow red bar with "KILL" written on it sideways. Exploration, navigation, puzzles, platforming, all gradually shrinking away until only one thing remains, being taken by the hand from room to room, moving on only when nothing remains alive in each one." - Yhatzee Crosshaw

Spark-voice has its own font first, before the speech bubble goes wavy. "You stay where you are" is in spark-font, while her questions in the panel in the other corner of that page are in normal-font.

Yeah, the only real question is, can a full on spark running person resist a command while in said state?

Actually, it was said several times when the whole thing was being investigated that Agatha doesn't sound exactly like her mother but it's closer when she's sparky.

The wasps are designed to respond to the Other's voice. Only Lucrezia and the "vessels" (and Clankrezia) have the requisite Spark-voice harmonics to command the revenants (see also: The Socket Wench of Prague).

Even Anevka's clank body adjusted to sound like Agatha (before the head was replaced with RoboLu) was able to order all the geisters but Vrin to instantly go to sleep. It doesn't work on Vrin because she says that "voice alone" is not enough for her. So clearly Agatha doesn't need to be sparked out to give orders to revenants.

I think it has something to do with the personal willpower and desires of each revenant; The revenant (either Vg or Rovainen, can't remember which one was wasped) who activated the hive engine on Castle Wulfenbach waaayyyy back in the second story arc responded to nothing more than an irritated "Don't you have something to do?" Vrin knew that Anevka was an imposter, as she knew that Agatha was an "imposter" when not controlled by Lu, and so was highly motivated to resist the instructions coming from those sources.

    EDIT:

Nope. Look closer. "Silence!", Lu's first order to Klaus, is in spark-font. However, that does prove that level 1 spark-voice (wavy speech-bubbles would be level 2 or higher) is sufficient to control a spark-revenant.

Hm. The comic is going slowly again. I think I'll put it back on slow schedule. (I.e. open it once every other month or so and read two dozen pages at a time).
