You stop for a moment as you notice that day still hasn't broken. In-fact, a heavy curtain of clouds is blocking out the moonlight now as well. As your gaze shifts back down towards the dim treeline you can't help but think that it sure is dark out..

I hate to say it but I suspect you're more correct than you'd like to be. I don't know what the black bit is sticking in the top of our head in panel 3 but it's not good news. I predict death either in the next comic or the next 3.

Let's review our situation. We have no means of attack - our "boiling liquid" body will not do much to help us. We are currently right next to a huge, deadly spider and the lights have just gone out. We also appear to be falling asleep.

I don't really know what to suggest. I suspect that fleeing back into the church won't help. Running or fighting the spider is a recipie for death as well. Plus, I strongly suspect an appearence soon from Greg.

Eh, either it's going to eat us, isn't going to eat us, or it's still deciding. At this point I think leaving the area to go looking for food might be a good idea. If Greg shows up, I'd rather be far away on a possibly-lethal date than deal with mabey two fights at once.

Besides, the boiling-point temperature innards might be all that keeps a predator from devouring us. We'd wreak havok on that digestive tract, or burn their tongue if nothing else.

Plus we haven't eaten anything in a while, so hunting sounds good right now.

As for the black thing, it has me worried too, but as long as we keep moving, and find something else for our date to eat, we should be ok.

Should be funny though, however it turns out.

Your Ex-Spider-tv-friend is laying incapacitated on the ground nearby. Your relationship was short, but eventful.

It's 2 against 1 now, you leer around the dark grove, searching for Greg's silhouette.


As your gaze passes over your returned friend, you can't help but notice that Friend-Fluff is giving you a pretty cold glare. You aren't sure how you can tell that since Friend-Fluff only has one facial expression.

Probably because you fluffed (Hah!) the whole candle thing up.


"Well, well.. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

I admit, Tuner, your resilience surprises me. This is your.. 3rd time back from the dead now, yes?

Have you come back to play the hero again?"

Greg's disembodied voice has stopped. Despite Friend-Fluff pointing the toy sword towards the treeline, you can't make out any distinct forms there. You're unable to pinpoint him.

You aren't really sure what Greg or Friend-Fluff are capable of in a scuffle. Or how they scale up to each other. You have the feeling that they're out of your league though.

You could take the hint and run, maybe you could even snag Friend-Fluff too. Though you question if Greg will just forget about you two. Plus Friend-Fluff might not like it. Or you could stand your ground with Friend-Fluff. Though you feel that could end up pretty nasty for you.

Update early because I hate having to rush these out on Monday.

To anyone who's suggesting we stand and fight:
Are you guys insane?! No, we shouldn't fight! This is the part of the story where the Big Bad wants to murder us but is kind enough to let us leave. We then go train for a few years then return and fight. Even Elan recognizes this plot, and I'm not even sure he has an intelligence bonus. Comic #763
