Re: Hello and Welcome New Members, Thread 10
Hey Playgrounders!
New here, kind of.
It's a bit strange, but I have been registered on this forum for ages (year 2008 ) and visiting quite regularly for even longer. Now when I'm thinking about it, I don't know why I've never posted anything.
Well, hopefully mystalkinglurking days are over and I will be able to contribute somehow to Playground, in some meaningful way.

Hello.
I've been reading OotS for around a year but never thought about joining the forums until now. I recently started playing pathfinder and have a lot of questions for you all!

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members, Thread 10
Hello guys, I'm that dude who never played Dunjeons & Thingy ever in his life and still fell under the charm of Oots. See, I'm a living proof it's possible to enjoy it while barely understanding the mechanism behind...
No kidding, I really like it. They make me laugh ("Roy has boobies", ehehe) and sometimes they provide good escapism too, and that's all I'm asking for when I have a few times to lose on this internet.
Speaking of which, I have more time now, so I thought I'll talk with people here for a bit. Cheers!

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members, Thread 10
Hello! I'm a longtime OotS reader but only recently discovered the sage advice available on these forums. I play 3.5 and Pathfinder ,and dabble in oWoD. I'm currently working on a Suikoden game and designing a homebrew system based on the Sir-tech Wizardry series.

'eyo.
A long time reader, I have been following OOTS since 2006ish.
I do various things including playing and dm'ing a 3.5 d&d campaign with my long time friends, but I've some experience with 4th ed, CoC., MM and few other role playing and board games.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members, Thread 10
Hi everyone! I've played DnD off and on ever since 2nd edition, and when I tried to convince my boyfriend to do a campaign with me, he introduced me to OotS. That was earlier this summer and I immediately fell in love and went on an archive binge. Waiting for the next comic update after all that fast reading kept me hungry for more, so I'd been lurking on the forums here for the past few months, and listening to the discussions and theories has been lots of fun.
So I said to myself, "well, if you like reading the forums so much, why not join in?"
So here I am. Great to finally join the club!
P.S. Happy 10th birthday, Order of the Stick!Last edited by Lettuce; 2013-09-30 at 02:49 AM.

Hey there!
The name's frosty, not much of an active forum user but you seem to be running a pretty nice community here so I thought it wouldn't hurt to register and maybe share an opinion here and there, join the discussion so to say.

Hey there, I'm SacrificerPS3, friends call me Chevy.
I'm looking to expand my knowledge of D&D roleplay techniques, 3.5 homebrew, and to overview the rules. I'm not too good with them.

Hello, New here...
Hello, Cakesnizzles here. This is a great place for D&D stuff and i figured, hey you stared at this so many times, might as well join it. One more thing, anyone know of a bard like class that destroy enemies with music? Like the two brother from the "Kung Fu Hustle" movie. I would totally love to play one...

Re: Hello, New here...
Hi! Welcome to the Playground. We have a thread for introducing yourself here, which you can use.
As for the Bard class, I don't know much about it myself, but you might find it a good idea to start a thread in the Roleplaying Games forum. That area is specifically for D&D-related stuff, and the people there are more likely to be able to give you an answer.

Hello everyone
Hello Giant in the Playground, new user here.
Played half a D&D 3.5 campaign in a hombrew setting(in a foreign language, as I wasn't in my homecountry. I'm delighted by what kind of words you learn by playing D&D!), GM'ed half an Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, and now I came back home, and recently started GMing a 1st level Eberron campaign with mostly fresh, tender players. At least, slightly more fresh and tender, as I myself don't have that much experience.
I'm not really into optimization and minmaxing (are they the same thing?) but I do like nice combos with a believable background and race.
Lurked GitP for some time, finally registering because, uh, it's nice to be able to talk to people if necessary. Hope to listen to great stories and learn something about being a GM. See ya around!Last edited by Dreadgrim; 2013-10-04 at 01:20 PM. Reason: Some misspelling

Re: Hello everyone
Welcome to the Playground, then!
If you want to get to know some new people, you might want to repost this in the Hello and Welcome New Members, Thread 10 thread. But still, it's always good to see a new face.
To answer your question, min-maxing is a type of optimization. Optimizing usually implies that you're building the best kind of character (crunch-wise) to fit the type of RP and combat you intend to incorporate in content.
Min-maxing is a method of specializing a build for a specific purpose. See Diplomancer and other derivatives thereof. A popular parody/satire of a min-maxed character is Minmax the Unstoppable Warrior from Goblins Comics who has given up the ability to read, write, rhyme on purpose or dress himself in order to specialize in combat. As such, even as a low-level Human Fighter, he can take on much higher level threats, so long as the challenge is purely one of combative skill.PbP Junk and Stuff:

Re: Hello, New here...
You may need to pick a sub-forum as well. Bards in 3.5 are capable of doing what you want to do, but I don't know if 4E Bards can. The build advice you receive will vary depending on which edition of D&D/AD&D/DDO you are referring to.

Hello friends.
Horribly new here but keen to pick myself up some sweet sweet PbP action. I have lurked the forums for a little while and have decided to step forth from the shadows.
Thank you in advance for the warmest of welcomes.
