Dipsnig shrugs as well. "I suppose talking to him is the best start. He doesn't seem to know a whole lot about it himself, though. Still, he can explain this to you better than I can." He has little interest in the metaphysical aspects of existence.

"Right, sounds like something of a plan, then." Ashley looks over the contact information once more. "We'll be at base before too long."

Ally nods in agreement. Although, let's be honest here, she'd rather stay here and make out with Ashley than spend time looking for a place she knows nothing about.

Meli's face brightens in understanding at Louis explanation, quickly writing a reply.

"Oh, that is a very good idea. Is it common in your world?"

Meli is a bit hesitant about writing the last question, paying close attention to Loui's reaction. It seems a bit rude to ask, but Meli is quite curious.

"That's right. Were I'm from, almost everyone with special powers does this." He avoids using the term "Superhero" because she'd probably had no basis for it. "The only ones who don't tend to be either the most powerful or the richest."

"Yes, I am Abraxes Foxwood. You are the mage to be joining us, then?" The question answers itself, since she wears mage's robes. He glances around the table. "So...is this our motley crew? No men-at-arms (aside from myself), no proper archers?" He shakes his head. "I suppose that's of no matter, at this point. Are you about ready to leave, Madam?"

I... have no idea who they are, actually, so it'll be interesting to find out.

Justin has already made his case to gnome, so if Poliwopple wants to be paranoid let him. "Justin," he says when his name is unsaid, "or Blondie if you prefer. Also I'll have you know that this," he says, patting the laser rifle on his back, "shoots straighter and further than any arrow." As for waiting, the guy can show up when he wants, Justin's got no reason to rush.

And the doors open, revealing a vampire with a canvas bag and a Keyblade!

Alysha walks into the tavern, likely leading a lost and confused woman who was in here not too long ago. Alysha will approach the bar and make arrangements for a room upstairs, then lead the woman up said stairs.

Provided she doesn't resist, of course.

No she is happily lead upstairs, happy to finally be going somewhere instead of just wandering.

Meanwhile, another half-drowess walks into the tavern, modestly clad in a robe and hood, and looks around curiously...

"I dunno. I'm itching for more fun. Funner fun than before." Amist smirks.

A curiously small (about 5-1) Ettin enters the bar, one head looking bewildered, the other disdainful.

I could have sworn I saw this very bar two streets ago! and another few streets before that!

You're always seeing things, brian the right head drawls. I wouldn't read to much into it.

Paige approaches the strange creature You must be new here. What's your story?

So what exactly is this whole nexus place, anyway?

The nearest PC would probably be the totally normal looking young man wearing a fedora and having a heated debate with an unusually large chicken with his old college biology prof's hair.

The chicken insists that his report is is long overdue and he won't get another extension on it.

Upon being approached by the Ettin the chicken abruptly vanishes.

How mysterious.

"Well, that's a pretty good question," the young man replies, looking thoughtful. "I'm pretty sure it's a dream of some kind. But it's lasting an awfully long time. Or at least it seems to be. Dreams are kind of fiddly about that sort of thing."

He then coughs and spits out several of his teeth.

"Oh come on! Not again!"

Ivaz thinks for a moment. Then shrugs.

Guess we gotta hit the town and see what happens?

She may see Nycca at a table with a gnome, a mage, a dude with a laser gun, a half-orc, and a large pixie.

Indeed, Rhyan spots them, and heads in that direction!

Alrighty then, sweet cheeks! Onward! She'll quickly stand up and head out the door.

Facinating! It feels pretty real to me, but I suppose... Say, if this IS a dream, than whose is it? yours? I've always wanted to be in a dream! I wonder if ill start seeing in 3rd person...

as brian trials off into a rant about his hopes and dreams about hopes and dreams, Landon channels a spell in an attempt to detect magic on The Dreamer.

Indeed, Rhyan spots them, and heads in that direction!

The Dreamer does not appear to be magical in any way. He's just a normal human who is late on turning in a paper and coughing up his own teeth. Totally typical stuff.

"I'm going to guess that it's my dream. Everyone else seems to be insisting that it isn't. That or suggesting that I'm the only one dreaming. Which would be really-"

A man with a beard suddenly leaps off a jet-ski that just came zooming in out of the bathroom. "BILLY MAYS HERE! YOU REALLY NEED THIS MALLET!"

He then thrusts a croquet mallet into the Dreamer's hands, leaps back onto his jet-ski, and zooms off up the chimney.

"-weird."

"I'm going to guess that it's my dream. Everyone else seems to be insisting that it isn't. That or suggesting that I'm the only one dreaming. Which would be really-"

I think Weird describes exactly your situation. Then again, this whole place could be understated as REALLY WEIRD

I like you, person-stuck-in-a-dream! maybe I'll compose a song about your exploits. Or whatever it is that happens to you. What did you say your name was? Let me buy you a drink.

landon looks exasperated. He probably is not looking forward to hearing his other half compose a poorly rhyming song about some weirdo they just bumped into. He'd much rather go blow something up. Or learn to blow something up. He never really graduated past 1st level spells.

[Chas the mage]

Chas walks in from his VW camper, with a red headband upon his messy blond elf hair. Disheveled, as usual, his t-shirt is rather wrinkled, with a few ash marks and burns, as well as a spot of blood, and on top of that he wears his brown hemp hippie-vest, covered in patches conveying peace, love, and music - and a few that could be construed to reference drugs... his jeans are in a similar state as his shirt, and he is currently wearing a pair of flip flops that reveal his calloused feet.

[Rebonack]

The mallet has a bright blue handle, a yellow head, and 'THE STAIN FIGHTER' emblazoned across it. There's no telling what it might be useful for. Probably for making your whites whiter and your brights brighter.

"My name? Oh, that's easy. My name is-"

And then comes a mouthful of gibberish as the Dreamer BLEGHs out a torrent of brightly colored butterflies. The insects swarm around the tavern in a dizzying display of garish color and fluttering wings.

Yay, butterflies!

...

The Dreamer is still coughing up more gaudy insects. He probably won't be able to respond to the question.

Ivaz eyes the ettin for a moment before responding.

"I had heard about it, yes," Rhyan says, pulling back her hood to reveal a kind face with pale blue-white eyes framed by her snow white hair. "...if you have room for one more?"

Landon forces himself away from the dreamer, much to the disappointment of Brian

I'll take four of those XP in a cup things. If we are gonna be stuck in this place, I might as well learn some proper magic while I'm here.

Landon looks around, trying to identify any mages he might glean a spell or two from.

meanwhile brian begins eyeing the bat-harpy thing with not unkind interest.

And they're in a large pile. Perfect for jumping in!

The Dreamer coughs a few more times. "Sorry about that. Every time I try to tell someone my name I get interrupted. Last time my mouth fell off. The time before that it was a giant lobster."

Giant lobsters are terrible.

[Chas the mage]

Chas watches the tavern, observing whats going on with tired eyes. He continues to do his ritual chain-smoking and drinking ritual.

Aether walks in, as well, and sits next to Chas, bumming a cigarette. He's a rather tall human, who is rather handsome looking. He wears a nice suit, with his tie removed, and his shirt unbuttoned several buttons, and his watch is a legitimate rolex. His shoes are leather, and his brown hair is of medium length, and well kept. One might question why he would sit next to Chas, the dirty elf hippie.

Though he doesn't know it, Landon is mentally questioning why, exactly, a well-dressed human like that would sit next to such an unkempt specimen as Chas.

I apologize, mr. stuck in a dream, but I need to take myself to bed before he barfs on someone. Perhaps I'll see you around?

one-half staggering drunk, the Half-ettin climbs the stairs. EXIT to [TROG'S SECOND FLOOR]

Kitty smiles broadly and says. "Then how about you show me?" She can hardly believe this is happening. Someone pinch her.

'Victor' grins and offers her his hand. "Simply, follow me, then, my dear."

Kitty takes the offered hand without any hesitation. "Lead the way."

Meli brightens at the apparent lack of rudeness in asking about other worlds. Writing another quite quickly.

"Are the powerful and wealthy... Soldiers? I think my world had those, but they were not hidden."

Trying to recall what the military status in that Elven homeworld was, Meli sighs soundlessly and pushes it aside. Still very little memory would come back, but there is plenty of time to catch it.

Lewis gives Polliwopple an apologetic smile and cheerfully elaborates.

"We most surely can, I met a few who had, but none of them ever lost the groove because of it. Was lucky enough to get in a mule chase when someone tried it on me, even."

Optimistically reminiscent of old adventures, Lewis overhears Justin's comment. Peeking at the laser rifle curiously, the mule-fleeing Pixie sighs.

"Groo-ovy. I really wish I could have brought some weaponry myself, but I did not get a chance to pack before landing in this Nexus."

"They can be, sort of." Louis struggles to find the words. "Where I'm from, there are... regular humans and people with powers. Some of the people with powers just live normal lives, while some of us live perfectly normal lives, our powers just another part of it, a lot of us become heroes, protecting and aiding people in the face of disasters or criminals." With mention of his duties, Louis puffs out his chest heroically, proud of his job. "Some can be soldiers but there's a lot of rules for having people with powers in the military. And those in the military definitely don't wear masks. The reason the wealthy or the extra powerful don't hide their identities is because they have the resources to protect themselves and their families from harm. Sorry if I explained it weird, it's sort of like there's a weird set of rules."

Over at the adventure table, Justin nods at the pixie. "I guess I was lucky that I was already traveling when I wandered into Trog's. Have you picked up any weapons since? What did you use? Maybe one of us has a spare."
