Haley. She's just awesome, and the most interesting of the PCs.
Thor. Her new deity is also awesome.

Gannji. I felt bad voting against him. He's my favorite character to be introduced in Book 5.
Girard. Or, more accurately, NOT the Team Peregrine Commander. There is nothing in the comic I hated more than the Commander.

Haley-as has been stated, she is awesome.
Lien-as much as I love Thor, he has a small role in the comic that mostly just makes me mad at him. Lien is my favorite paladin by far(read Shark Mount).

Haley Starshine VS Mr. Phil Rodriguez -- Can't. Stand. The. Lawyers

Thor VS Lien -- Thor is connected to Durkon and Durkon is one of my favorite characters. Plus, he's a lot funnier than Lien.

Gannji VS Gortok the Destroyer -- Tough one. I like both characters a lot for being rather minor, but Gannji wins by a thread.

Team Peregrine Commander VS Girard Draketooth -- I never could stand elves.

Also, Lien was quite a good addition to the Paladin Crew on my eyes, and easily better than Thor.

The first one was obvious. Thor against Lien, well this is the one I am the less certain, but Lien is just another of those regular Lawful Good azurites while Thor is a lot more entertaining. I hope he'll get to play a more important role later, when the truths about the Snarl and the Dark One get exposed. Then Gannji clearly wins, and Girard as well. Girard is by far my favourite Scrib, I hope we learn more later about what happened between him and Soon.

Haley. I don't even particularily like her, but Mr. Rodriguez annoys me every time he appears.

Thor. Thor is a fun character while Lien is the only member of the Sapphire Guard that I don't enjoy.

Gannji. Easy choice. I have a soft spot for crafy neutrals, and I barely even remember Gortok.

I'll pass on the last one. I'm not going to vote for any member of the Order of the Scribble in order to protest Lirian and Dorukan being excluded from the tournament, but I just can't vote for the Team Peregrine Commander.

Hmm...minorly amusing character vs. a PC. Yeah, I'll take Miss Starshine here.

This second matchup is a LOT tougher. Thor gets the edge in terms of humor, but there's something about Lien that I really like (and I've long favored the Azurites). Two of my favorite side characters in the strip, but I guess I'll go with Lien by a hair.

I'm not really a big fan of Gannji, but he easily wins against someone whose contributions to the comic could be read in about 30 seconds (and they weren't even especially amusing contributions like Wizard Guy's, either).

And...I don't really like either of these last two, but I'll take the Team Peregrine Commander. Yeah, he could be a racist jerk, but at least he cared enough to help the Azurites resist the goblins, and he had more good lines and a brutal death scene. Girard has more potential for sure (and maybe he would win for me if this tournament was taking place later in the comic), but he's hardly his own character as it stands right now.

Lien Really could have gone either way on this one, but -- Thor should be a redhead, not a Marvel style blonde. That is all.

Team Peregrine Commander. They're both thoroughly unlikeable, but the Commander has much more actual screentime - I don't think I could vote for Girard until we find out exactly what went down between the Order of the Scribble.

Gannji is smart, funny, willing to sacrifice himself for his friend, and can pick up on Star Wars themes. What’s not to like here?

Team Peregrine Commander vs. Girard Draketooth
I’ve always found the TPC hatred exaggerated and rather affected; besides, I loathe Girard.

Tough call between Gannji or Gortok but I'll go with Gannji.

Team Peregrine Commander was weird. A semi-lead character in a subplot that didn't involve anything beyond stalling for time. Girard all the way.

Haley. The lawyers are funny and Phil Rodriguez is the funnier of the two, but Haley is just great. The paranoia, the deep-seated issues, and the constant attempts to be better.

Lien. She's funny, she's charming, and she rides a shark. I'll vote for her over any lightning-tossing deity.

Gannji. Gortok's bit was funny but the mercenaries had a lot more depth. Gortok was just a joke.

Girard Draketooth. I see a few people disliking him, but to me he's a great character. Not one I'd necessarily like hanging out with, not one I agree with on much (except the need to have the world not, you know, be destroyed), but one that adds a great deal to the comic and the storyline. Can't wait to see more of the story behind his hatred of Soon.
