Something weird just happened.

For a very long time I've been having difficulty buying the right jeans, since I'm quite skinny and have rather long legs, meaning most of my jeans are too short. We were watching television just now and he suddenly said, out of the blue: "Maybe you should try buying women's jeans. Maybe they'd fit you better." He wasn't joking and seemed serious. I wasn't sure what was going on, so I didn't say anything and he just looked at me for a few seconds, not explaining himself and then adding "I just saw those women on television, and thought you might want to wear those jeans". It was a really weird situation and really something I wouldn't think he'd say normally. I might have been imagining things, but it felt like he was trying to say something. When I wanted to continue the conversation a few moments later, he seemed completely disinterested in it though.

Am I being paranoid to now suspect my father would be on to me?

I do not know if you are being paranoid, but it sounds like your parent is at least open to you deviating from gender expectations. Even if there is no suspicion, it could be a good sign.

This is the exact point I was making in another thread on here.

A lot of men find sapphic intercourse to be a turn on but I've always wondered whether cis-sexual (is that right?) women find two men enjoying kissy-fun-time a turn on as well.

Funny thing, my two friends of the female gender have sketchbooks filled with yaoi illustrations. Just packed from page-to-page with dudes making out, among other acts.

I didn't mention her, because partly I don't know and partly because I think her suggestion will be less positive. She's a lot more conservative and hostile against anything thats abnormal. I'm a vegetarian for example, and although my father accepted this and even applauded me from a young age for standing for what I believe and for being myself, my mother was very intolerant and not understanding (she is now though). Although I know she has no problem with homosexuality, on multiple occasions when we were out and she noticed a transwoman on the streets, she would look disproving, point and stare and whisper to us about it. Although this was many years ago, I do fear her initial response.

Here's a tip: completely disregard your mother's opinion. You'd be surprised at how if the patriarch of the family approves of something, others in the household quickly follow suit. It doesn't matter if she disapproves or not. One thing I've learned is that no matter what happens, your parents will always love you. And if you can't turn to your parents, start with your friends. Better yet, have your friends with you to defend you if it gets hostile.

If it gets to hadoken-level hostility, just hope one of your friends is a good jumper.

Okay so why do I have to be stuck with the personality I have? I'm bisexual, and quite interested in sex, but have a mini panic attack and can't do anything about it when someone else is in the room with me. I'm a hardcore pacifist, but my emotional response to suffering pain and violence can best be summed up as "manic relieved laughter catharsis."

I've taken an oath to never strike someone with violent intent. While I have broken it on one occasion to maintain my dignity (and I hope never to again), I understand now that I'm a naturally violent person. I need to quell my anger with more violence, which is why I use airsoft rifles, spar, etc.

Wut, that seems SUPER tall. I thought the average woman in the US was around 5'4", or 64 inches. Stdev seems right though, maybe a bit on the low side--3" or so, perhaps? This is just guesstimation from looking at my friend group. I definitely disagree with the average height though.
(This would put a woman at 6'1" in the 99th percentile of height, and a woman at 6'4" in the 99.9th percentile of height, as opposed to 95th and 99th respectively with a 5'8" average height.)
I can also say that I personally know several cis women who are over 5'10" (average American man height), mostly because their parents were also super tall. 6'1" is tall for a human, to be perfectly honest.

In my family, the women are generally 5'6" or so. My uncle is a towering 6'5", while my older cousin grew about 3 inches between June 13th and July 4th. He's now about 6'3". I'm still growing, and I believe I'm about 6' now.

On another note, can someone listen (or who listens to) the Rooster Teeth Podcast please tell me whether they interpret the jokes about a trans* actress (she was in the Matrix pre-op) in episode 180 as transphobic? I was really offended, and blew up on them on Twitter, but looking back at it now, it was all joking. But they put out stuff like "he/she" and "Mr. and/or Mrs.", which really got me riled up.

I can't actually listen to the podcast, but from what I've gathered it sounds like their inability to "tell" which gender is appropriate is the joke. This can be played well, but my first response is distaste. Take that as you will.

I've never felt that horribly bad. When I was trying to go to sleep last night, I felt like I wanted to go back to before: back to my old, cruddy job, back to not knowing, like somehow living with the constant disappointment would be better than facing my fears and myself and reaching for what I want. It went so far that I was seriously considering quitting my new job and trying to get my old one back. I don't know what my plan was to make myself forget, especially because I've already told two of my friends, and they wouldn't exactly drop it that easily.

Luckily, I snapped out of that before I did anything stupid.

On a related note, is there anyone who might be willing to help me draft an "exploratory" e-mail to some local gender therapists (in PM, of course)? Stuff like this can't go on, and although talking to all the great people here is helpful, I haven't done any actual, you know, talking. I've assembled a list of local specialists, but I'm both paralyzed with fear, and without any idea of what to say to indroduce myself*. I keep telling myself that I'll do it some time later - the big one right now is, "when I move out." But that's at least six months away, and I don't think I can wait that long...

@ Selpharia & Absol - in Australia at least therapists aren't 'real' medical specialists, so don't need referrals and aren't covered by Medicare or some types of private cover. This of course means you just call up and make an appointment.

Psychiatrists, who you'll probably have to see for hrt and grs will probably need a referral - your therapist may be able refer you. I believe this does vary state to state in the US.

From personal experience, I can say that while parents might "always love you" eventually, they don't always love you right now, and regarding coming out it's dealing with the phase of not-loving-you-anymore that happens right now that's the problem.

I do go in for therapy, yes. And I have many loving people in my life willing to chat or give me hugs. But there are some internal conflicts I don't really want to talk about.

I understand. I have some sex-related internal tangles that I'm working my way up to. I have two people I would talk to about it, the problem is, both of them are already involved, in different ends of the tangle. So if I was to talk to one about the whole tangle, I'd have to tell them stuff about the other person that I shouldn't tell them. So ... fake names and a therapist, once I get back to Ireland.
