Q 1062
If one gets Mettle from more than one source (such as... say, Hexblade/Pious Templar), it still counts as only Mettle, correct?Last edited by Kuulvheysoon; 2013-03-07 at 09:25 PM.

A 1062
If you have Mettle from multiple sources the effects overlap. There are multiple versions of abilities with this name, and two sources might cover a bit more than just one of them would.

Q 1064 I know it's possible to (partially) rebuild character with the following methods:
- Chaos shuffle.
- Psychic reformation.
- Retraining (PhB2).
- Level drain + Restoration (arguable).
Are there any other methods to change already picked feats / skills / levels ?

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
A1065: Yes. The restrictions on what can't be done in barbarian rage are fairly specific, and make no mention of any sort of weapon, in general. And there is no reason to suppose that shooting a bow need involve any more concentration than swinging an axe.
Projects: Homebrew, Gentlemen's Agreement, DMPCs, Forbidden Knowledge safety, and Top Ten Worst. Also, Quotes and RACSD are good.

A 1066 No.
It is necessary for the other party to have at least one language for you to communicate with them. To do so, you must communicate using that language. Absent any special text to the contrary, telepathic communication is done using a shared language like any other conversation.

You forgot rebuilding, also from PHBII. It can do what you asked and more, but is at the DM's discretion because it requires a quest.

Q1070
Arcane Hierophant (Races of the Wild)
Wild Shape (Su): If you do not already possess the ability, you gain no new ability to wild shape. However, you add your arcane hierophant level to your druid level and gain the wild shape ability of a druid of the resulting level. For example, a character who is a 3rd-level wizard/3rd-level druid/4th-level arcane hierophant has the wild shape ability of a 7th-level druid. If you are not a druid, (for example, if you entered the class as a wizard/ranger), you do not gain the ability to wild shape.Beware my incredibly noobish questions!

A 1068 Yes.
Any Skarn could take those two instances of Improved Natural Attack (not just a Skarn Monk).
A 1069
Complete Adventurer has Haggle skill use rules on pages 98-99.
A 1070 No.
Trackless Step is not either a Ranger or Wizard class feature. However, a Wizard/Ranger/Wildrunner (for instance; any class with Trackless Step would work) could enter Arcane Hierophant. The example is incomplete and confusing.Last edited by Curmudgeon; 2013-03-08 at 02:53 PM.

Q1071
Inside an Antimagic Field, can a Shadowcraft Mage use a heightened Silent Image in conjunction with their class features to imitate the Evocation spell Invoke Magic, which allows the casting of a 4th level or lower (and presumably itself) spell inside an Antimagic Field? I'm not sure if the Silent Image counts as Silent Image first before turning into Shadow Evocation and then turning into Invoke Magic, or if it counts as Shadow Evocation turned Invoke Magic, or if it counts from the get-go as Invoke Magic.
If so, could you then use Residual Magic to cast like, an 8th level Silent Image-> any conjuration/evocation you wanted, so long as you didn't use up a spell slot of 5th or higher?

Q 1072
If I apply a template that adds venerability to fire (+50%)to a creature that already has venerability to fire (+50%), does the affect add (100%) or just overlay (50%)
Q1072a
If a creature with venerability to energy has a item of energy resistance does the energy resistance reduce the base amount of energy damage before the venerability increases it.
Creature has a energy resistance of 10 and his hit by a energy attack of 20. dose it take 15 [(20-10)*1.5] or 20 [20*1.5-10]Last edited by hydraa; 2013-03-08 at 04:51 PM. Reason: added question on energy resist

[B]A1073[/B
There are many ways to do this. Some of the most popular are Pounce, gained by taking one level in Barbarian and trading Fast Movement for an ACF which grants it. Pounce lets you do a full attack at the end of a charge. The feat Travel Devotion allows you to move your speed as a swift action for a minute, meaning you can swift action move in and full round action full attack. You can do similar with Tome of Battle's Sudden Leap maneuver. And of course, technically falling is a free action, so you could be in a tree, fall onto your opponent, and have moved without using a move action. But that's a little spurious.

Q1074 The Visionary Seeker class, from Planar Handbook, has a class feature called Spell Mimic. The usage amount increase as one takes levels in the class, but are there any ways to increase it even more?

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
A 1072
Vulnerability to energy is always expressed in terms of the normal damage. 150% of normal damage does not change no matter how many times that is specified, so vulnerability to energy twice is the same as vulnerability to energy once.
A 1072a
Resistance to energy is expressed in terms of the energy ignored by the creature, not in terms of the original effect of the attack. You multiply the normal damage by 1.5 to factor in the vulnerability before you subtract the amount of energy ignored.

Legacy Champion possibly can, but how that works once you've already maxed the PrC remains unknown.

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
Q 1075
I'm confused as to how Resist Energy interacts with Protection from Energy, and the section of each spell that's supposed to clarify this does the opposite for me.
Do you subtract the resistance from the damage and then Protection absorbs the rest, or does Protection absorb the full amount of the damage while Resistance effectively does nothing?
Q 1076
Would the enhancement bonus on Magic Vestment-ed clothing stack with Mage Armor?

Q 1077
Heat metal affects a weapon or armor made of metal. If such an item is worn or held by a creature, does the item use its own save, or that of the wielder?

Re: Simple Q&A D&D 3.5 (by RAW) XXII
A 1075
The latter. Protection From Energy absorbs the full amount of the damage while Resist Energy does nothing. If you were to take enough damage to overcome both--say, you have Resist Energy (acid) with a value of 30, and Protection from Energy (acid) with 50 points left, and you take 88 points of damage, then Protection From Energy will eat 50 of it, and discharge; Resist Energy will eat 30 points of the remainder, and remain; and you will take 8 points of acid damage.
A 1076
I'm less certain about this, but I'm inclined to say no. An enhancement bonus to your armor bonus Armor Class is still an armor bonus, and armor bonuses from different sources (in this case, the enchanted vestment and Mage Armor) never stack.
A 1077
It depends.
The relevant language on Heat Metal states:
Heat metal makes metal extremely warm. Unattended, nonmagical metal gets no saving throw. Magical metal is allowed a saving throw against the spell. An item in a creature’s possession uses the creature’s saving throw bonus unless its own is higher.
Q 1078
The language on the Crescent Knife (Dragon Magazine #275) is as thus:
This weapon, which resembles a crescent-shaped blade affixed to a crossbar handle, allows its wielder to make two simultaneous attack rolls (using the same modifier) each time he attacks with it. Each attack is resolved separately.Last edited by Lonely Tylenol; 2013-03-09 at 12:22 AM.

A1076-Counter
Magic Vestment and Mage Armor do stack, as the latter is an Armor Bonus to AC and the former is an Enhancement Bonus to AC. Because different types of bonuses stack, these stack. The only exception would be if they are explicitly defined to not do so.Last edited by Gildedragon; 2013-03-09 at 03:06 AM.
