Default So I have a new theory on what book 5 will be named

Considering it's getting really long and is book 5 (possibly out of 7), after all.

Edit: Actually, considering the desert setting, a better name might be:

Phoenix. (confusing word, I know)

But, all jokes aside, I still think that this book is going to be titled, "Blood Ties."

I use the same name in every game I ever play or forum I join (except the pretender on PSN that forced me to be RealOlinser). If you see an Olinser in a game or on a website, there's a high chance it's me, feel free to shoot me a message.

So just because it's the 5th book of OOTS, it should be named after the 5th book in a completely unrelated series?

Because early on, they had a Star Wars theme. They would go LOTR, but it's too similar of a setting.

I was also making a joke about it being the longest book to date, as the Order of the Phoenix was, and wound up being for the whole series.

Well in that case, it definitely should be named after Harry Potter. The similarities are too great! THE UNIVERSE HAS SPOKEN!!

That's right - George R. R. Martin; a writer so ruthless, his name is a verb akin to Samuel L. Jackson. Valar morghulis.

Amusing.

I'm laughing inside at the very slim (completely certain it won't happen, but theoretically possible) possibility of the title being Blood and Thunder Victory at Sea!

Fits well with Durkon beginning his character development arc in the book, as well as the blood themes.

IIRC War and XPs is larger due to the fact it had more pages per strip.

Porthos posted this back in March, when #880 was current.

Note: Not counting DCF
{table]Book | # of Online Strips |# of Online Pages| Total Book Pages
NCftPB| 180 | 197 | 244
W&XP | 183 | 242 | 288
DStP | 188 | 226 | 272
Book 5 | 208+ | 233.75+ | ???
Updating to include 881-83, we have:

{table]Book | # of Online Strips |# of Online Pages| Total Book Pages
NCftPB| 180 | 197 | 244
W&XP | 183 | 242 | 288
DStP | 188 | 226 | 272
Book 5 | 211+ | 237.75+ | ???
We are 4.25 pages of comic from reaching the online total of War. The other books have had bonus strips, commentary, and such averaging 46.33 pages. Basically, if we go five more pages without reaching the end of the book, we can reasonably predict that Book 5 will be longer than War.

It could be named after the 5th episode of StarWars - The Vampire Strikes Back! Hahahaha.

I surmise the title will likely be another play on an existing book.

It's a joke...

At any rate, I think that with the "Larry Gardener" thing being a 1-strip gag, people might not remember who he was in the OOTSverse. Now, the vampire strikes back, on the other hand...

To those advocating "The Vampire Strikes Back":

I don't think the Giant would name a book with a spoiler right in the title. Yes, it doesn't out and out declare Malack is a Vampire, but simply the suggestion of a Vampire being involved in the book will set new readers on high alert and ruin the surprise for many of them. This is not something I suspect the Giant would allow to happen.

I'm actually thinking the book might have already ended. There are a couple of spots that would make alright endings, and if the book gets much longer than this, it could get ridiculous. Although, that might be wishful thinking on my part, I'd really rather not have the book move out of the $20 range.

Something along the lines of "Blood is thicker than water" could be nice.

Regardless, blood should be a part of it since it's been EVERYWHERE.

The endings are always very obvious, and announced along with a break.

So no, the book is still ongoing.
