Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
question soon
- - - Updated - - -
Let's see just how much Legato knows about the Enterprise-E.
It was suggested by Ronald D. Moore that the E was being constructed in 2370, the final season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. According to the non-cannon ebook, Star Trek: Corps of Engineers, the ship was originally planned to be designated as USS Honorious, and that Montgomery Scott himself was part of the design team to develop it.
In another non-cannon comic miniseries, Star Trek: Countdown, the Enterprise-E confronts the antagonist Nero, but misses stopping his ship from going back in time, leading to the alternate universe that is the new Star Trek series. Which, reading this, allows me to feel better about watching it. (I didn't know.)
So, the question is: Who is in command of the USS Enterprise-E that allows this alternate universe to be created?

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Well, it's obviously not Kirk or Picard, that'd be too easy. And Janeway and Sisko never captained an Enterprise. So the correct choice has to be Star Trek: Enterprise's Captain Jonathan Archer, played by Quantum Leaper Scott Bakula.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Ugh, worst captain by far. Archer shouldn't have commanded any Enterprise, so the idea he took control of Picard's legacy is pretty inconceivable. Also, he ought to be dead at this point, but there's always time travel shenanigans to explain his presence.
Still, from an out of universe perspective, the idea that a writer would throw Archer in rather then giving an actual Next Gen officer like Riker the chair seems pretty ridiculous.
Disagree.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Ding! Ding! Ding! You are correct. Archer is the worse possible Captain of the Enterprise. Though, I did like Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap.
But he also wasn't the captain after Picard in that particular story. Captain Data is the one who allowed this Nero creature to slip into the timestream.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Duck II, the sausage meat known in the U.S. as Bologna (or phonetically, baloney or bolony) is related to a Italian sausage popular in it's native country. In Germany, the same recipe is used, except with garlic added to it giving it a unique flavor, and called German Bologna in the States.
Both Bologna and it's parent sausage are made up of ground pork, lard, and myrtle berries. The other ingredients of the two meats, and how they are processed differ. Also, Bologna in the U.S. is required, for some odd reason, to be ground to a finer consistency, so that none of the lard bits can be seen. Yet, they are perfectly fine with us seeing the olives in Olive Loaf, a sister bologna.
Duck II, What is the name of the parent sausage to Bologna, Olive Loaf, Fleischwurst (German Garlic), & Saucisse de Lyon (French variant)?

Bologna was a food I greatly enjoyed at one point (I think). I haven't had any for a while.
Well, I guess this is where random friends who spout facts come in handy:

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Eww. You need to get Italian Mortadella. No olives in that variety.
Ding! Ding! Ding! You are correct. Mortadella sausage is the parent sausage and is made similarly to Bologna.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Well, as Sir Kay was originally known as Sir Cai or Cei in the earlier Welsh traditions, I feel that disqualifies him from this category.
So instead I'll go with Jungle Book. Or more accurately, King Louie, King of the Monkeys who wants to learn the secret of..... >.> <.< Fire!
King Louie begins his existence, as we know it, is after the Bandar-log (or Monkeys) kidnap Mowgli. Then we get this wonderful song and dance:
Spoiler: I wanna be like you
Duck999, What famous Jazz/Swing/Big Band "King" voiced King Louie in the original Jungle Book movie?

They cast an African-American to play a variety of ape falsely insisting he could be human?

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Ding! Ding! Ding!Correct. In fact, Disney specifically did not try to cast Louis Armstrong in that part specifically for that reason. Instead, they hired another Jazz/Swing great, Louis Primo.

We need 2 new Contestants and 9 new Squares. It has been pointed out to me that posting to be on the waiting list may discourage new players from joining. So I ask that the Current Squares and Contestants wait 24 hours before posting their interest to be in the next game. Thank you.
Exception: If a Square isn't asked a question in the course of the game, they are allowed to forego the 24 hour waiting period.
