Rein shakes Jim's hand cautiously and only because there's people watching.

"Yes, some of my finest work." Reinholdt admits with a blush.

"I'm not sure I have much use for one either beyond maybe sending it to someone as a practical joke. Maybe just release it into the wild? Or crash that Pokémon tournament with it." That might be fun.

Vel grins at the thought of him out mooning people. "I didn't know you were an exhabitionist." She teases him.

"Yeah well the uses for an angry fire breathing cow with scales are pretty limited. Not to mention the farmer has the gall to try to charge more for that beast. Who knows though, maybe the thing would be able to win the tournement, there has to be some prize money for that. I mean who can keep track off all these new pokemon, I bet you could slip it into the competitors. Not that it seems like it would take orders from anyone."

Reinholdt grumbles and mutters under his breath at Vel's teasing.

"I don't think my badge level is high enough. Have you tried bribing it with shiny things? Preferably gold coloured?"

"I think Eric is trying to get away without having to use any more gold to solve the situation. Though to tell the truth I think he is stalling so Jay can have fun dodging fire."

Vel chuckles at that, and honestly it appears like Jay is having a good time taunting the bull into trying to char-broil her. "I don't suppose you could just let it loose in the wild. It already seem feral and tough enough to desimate the wildlife around it."

"It'd probably fit right in actually, knowing the wildlife. Have you ever seen that squirrel with the really creepy eyes? It's so wrong in so many ways."

"Can't say that I have. I don't get out of the city all that often." Jim says.

Vel shakes her head grinning. "Oh yeah, sometimes I forget that you guys live in the township of weird stuff. A squirrel with creepy eyes? At least they aren't creepy teeth."

"Well Jay seems to be having fun with it. Maybe she should just keep it as a pet?" Rein suggests, not wanting to contemplate Creepy Teeth Squirrel longer than he has to.

"I don't think so. Even if it did fit in our apartment it would promptly destroy everything in there and probably set the whole building on fire." Eric says as he walks over to join the group apparently overhearing Reinholdt's last comment. Eric is a muscular human in his mid to late 20's. He has short and unkempt sandy brown hair and dark hazel brown eyes. He looks to be in exellent shape and moves with a casual grace, though to someone observent enough he is like a spring waiting to be sprung. A little bit of tension in his shoulders, his hand never to far away from one of the knives on his belt, or one of the many others hid about his body.

He doesn't offer a hand to shake for Reinholdt to feel uncomfortable about. Instead he nods in his and Vel's direction. "Vel, Reinholdt. Jim go help the others. Angie gave us approval to buy the fire breather so we will have to find a place to store it until Ken can come up with an idea for what to use it for."

"Right back to work then. Nice to meet you Reinholdt, see you guys around." Jim says with a smile going back to join the workers around the half dragon trying to get it moving.

"Reinholdt this is Eric, he is head of security here, and Jay's husband." Vel says making introductions, though Reinholdt needs no introduction it seems.

"Good luck." Reinholdt waves.

Oh hey. A security person wound tight. Imagine that. "A pleasure to meet you." Rein does give a small bow.

Reinholdt suddenly realizes he has a solution, but isn't sure he wants to give it because recent campaigning has really turned him off on that group. They were cool until then. He tilts his head a little to see how the wrangling is going and if it might be necessary anyways.

Oh Eric also has some fairly old burn scars on his neck, most of which are hidden by his high collared shirt, they are still noticable. So he is a tightly wound scarred security person. He takes a second before responding, choosing what he wants to say in return carefully. "Nice to meet you to." He doesn't bow in return. An observent person might notice his left hand make a few gestures similar to sign language. It is highly unlikely that Reinholdt would know the old theives sign language Eric uses to say hello. Not many thieves Inside know it, and only a few NPC ones from Town would probably recgonize it. It would be easy enough to ignore the subtle gesture thinking he was trying to flick a bug away or something.

The group handling the half dragon cow seem to find that the best way to get it somewhere is to give it a target to chase. Or targets rather, Jay, Jim and another fellow who looks to be about Jim's age, run in front of it taunting it with grins on their face. When it finally charges they run towards the door they want to get it to, which looks to lead to a sunny grassy field. It is like running of the bulls, with less bulls and more fire breathing.

While I'm sure Rein has one or two contacts from the old NPC Town thieves that are still alive, I can't see them having taught Reinholdt their secret language.

"They really seem to be enjoying themselves." That's good. While NO has the beast pens to handle it, Rein would rather not hand them an asset like this.

"Yeah they will tend to do that. Jim and Gordon both have a habit of turning dangerous tasks into fun games, something that has brushed off on Jay over the years." Probably comes from growing up in the Nexus.

"Yeah like you aren't the same way." Jay points out.

"I rarely think of danger as fun." Eric says with a little shrug. Sure he is in danger a lot but he doesn't think of it as a game.

The three in front of the cow get chased through the doorway to the grass field. Jay is the first one to come back out through the door closing it behind her as she comes through. The green medow that was visable through the open door is replaced by a view of an interior hallway through the window in the door.

"Danger usually is pretty fun. But, uh, only if you like that sort of thing. Not so much so for civilians who would rather not get involved."

Huh. That's some really fancy door there.

Nope a completly normal door. Really you can go over and open it up yourself, just a door to go into the apartment building.

"Maybe if you are skydiving or something like that." Eric says having difficulty coming up with another thrill seeker activity. "But I tend to view monsters and the like with a bit more seriousness."

"Pshaw, you can barely even classify that thing as a monster. She was just a big sweety." Jay says walking over and putting one of her arms around Eric's waist leaning up against him. "Hi there Reinholdt, lovely to see you again." She gives Jay a knowing smile which is returned in kind.

"There are some pretty damn terrifying monsters I pray you never have to run into." Reinholdt admits. Fire breathing cow just seems more like a novelty.

"Good to see you as well. Knew you worked security in Inside, but I didn't know it was here." Reinholdt tries to pretend he doesn't see the knowing smiles, but knows it's too late. Curse that rumor mill and it's speedy knowledge transfers!

Jay would have put money on Rienholdt and Vel ending up together after the first time they had meet. The fact that he is here hanging out with her again seems to be all the info she needs to make the correct guess on what they were doing.

"Yep, here and a few other buildings around the neighborhood actually. They are all owned by the same woman. That is how I was able to set Vel here up with a nice little apartment while she was in town."

..... Painting on a pile of gold?

Ah well, worth a shot.

"Really? Who owns these apartments?" Reinholdt asks. Might be someone he knows.

[McBish]

"A young woman named Angie."

"She is a healer and an empath. She got a huge chunk of money and sunk a lot of it into fixing up this neighborhood. She owns this apartment building and another one, a hospital and grocery store. And a bunch of farmland she is working on getting up and running."

Reinholdt has meet Angie once I think. She sometimes goes to the Black Dragon to get a drink and they ran into each other once.

((Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize you never gave a last name to one of your characters? One you have been playing for years and years. This is one of those times for me.))

It took me a good few years before I finally decided what Reinholdt's last name would be. Most of my characters don't get that lucky.

"Empath... empath... OHH. Her. Yeah, she was really nice. That's pretty neat of her."

Better than what Rein does with his money most of the time.

"She is a good enough boss." Eric says, and if you knew Eric that would seem like a much bigger compliment. He hates having a boss.

"Which mostly means she stays out of our way and only occasionally has a stupid idea. And she does seem pretty sincere about wanting to help the community here."

Rein alas doesn't know Eric that well.

"Well that's good. Most either aren't interested at all or just fake it for the PR." He'll have to talk to Angie more in depth next time he sees her.

"It helps that she hires mostly locals who grew up here."

"Yeah me and Eric are sort of oddities, though we have both lived here for a long time. The rest of our crew were born and raised here."

"Yeah before Angie hired them they worked together as a band of thieves and pickpockets."

Eric just grins and gives a little shrug at that, apparently not very ashamed of his past as a thief. Possibly because they know Reinholdt is a thief himself.

I'm pretty sure everyone who seriously lives in the Nexus for any length of time is a thief. Maybe not of money, but definitely stealing something.

"Well... I guess that does sound like Angie. Huh."

"So you guys are pretty used to random fire breathing cows then."

[McBish]

"Well there was this one time-"

Eric looks surprised by Jay's words. "Wait really?"

"Well it was a golden statue of a cow. About 10 feet tall and it breathed fire every hour like a clock chiming. I didn't get a close look at it."

Reinholdt giggles, amused.

"Wow. I'd have liked to pick that up." Way too big though. Not worth the effort.

"Yeah it was out in front of this temple in a city I lived at for awhile before coming here." There is a slight tinge to her voice when she says the word temple, like it puts a bad taste in her mouth. "Probably still there spewing out fire every hour."

"I'm surprised more people wouldn't go and try to take a chunk out of it."

"I'm sure a few tried but those guys were crazy. I mean they worshiped a cow."

"Not that crazy. People have worshiped animals for years, and rightly so!"
So as to not sound too egotistical and only talking about cats, he elaborates.
"I mean, cows provide food and drink for civilizations, right? Shouldn't they be worshiped for being the thing that allows others to live?"

"I mean the least that should be done is building a ten foot golden homage that spews fire, right?" Obviously.
Rein's kidding a little here.

Both Jay and Eric laugh, his a low quiet chuckle, her's almost lyrical and clean showing signs of voice training for being a singer. "Well I suppose I have heard of people worshipping odder things then a cow."

From behind them a teenage boy bursts out of the apartment building looking around till his eyes fall on Eric and Jay. He rushes over, "Eric we need Angie. It's Hector."

"Ah well duty calls." Eric says with a small frown and shrug. "Nice meeting you Reinholdt."

[Reinholdt]

"A pleasure meeting you as well. Take care of yourselves." Reinholdt waves goodbye.

Then turns back to Vel.
"It's probably getting about time for me to go too."

Jay, Eric and Ken all turn to quickly head back into the apartment building. Vel waves goodbye to them as they go, getting a quick wave in return from Jay.

Vel then turns and smiles at Reinholdt. "Alright, I suppose it is. Thanks for visiting." She moves to give him a quick hug.
