"Swear he'll be here and unharmed when I get back, and there aren't any crucial details you're leaving out and I'd call the terms acceptable. " Arty says, taking the hand.

[McBish]

Heaven's Gate Apartments

Well her sketch book is still sitting over on the stool she used when sketching him. It would be hard for him to sneak a look without her noticing since it is closed.

"I'm glad you could make it. It has been a really fun afternoon. I'm really looking forward to dinner."

Woods

"I swear it. He will be safe I will watch over him while you are gone." As he takes her hand he should feel something travel through her to him. All of the sudden the woods look cleaner and crisper. It is almost as if he can see the small breezes blowing through the trees, and a scent floats in the air that he can smell now. "That should help you find the Hind." She says letting go of his hand and going to the tree with the mushrooms growing around it. She reaches down into it's roots and pulls out a small flower, bell shaped and bright blue. "This is the gift I want you to give him."

Yeah. He should have done it sometime during the nap, but he didn't think about it. He'll have to find it at a later date.

"All right, have a good night and say hi to Jay for me." Reinholdt says, as he moves to leave.

[McBish]

Heaven's Gate Apartments

"You to, and I will." She will follow him over to the door giving a little wave as he leaves and close the door after he is gone.

[Reinholdt]

Once outside, Reinholdt goes about zombie proofing himself again before heading on his way home.

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

Arty blinks at the sudden shift in senses. "And shall I give him a name for on whose behalf it is delivered?"

[McBish]

Woods

"He will know who it is from. Oh and once you catch him he will hopefully eat the flower. So don't be alarmed when he does. Once he does that you can return here and I should have your friends cloak ready." The woman takes her hand back stepping back a few steps.

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

Arty nods and will hold out a hand to help Calvin dismount. Once he does Arty will press a small orange tube into Calvin's pocket with a look that says 'just in case.' It's a small flare gun, although it doesn't really look like a gun. The print on it should make it pretty obvious, This Side Up and all that. It's as bright and powerful as a modern one, just in a smaller package. Someday Arty will have to thank his father for packing his survival gear with this stuff.
Anyway, that settled, Arty will head off using his temporarily enhanced senses.

Woods

Calvin takes the flare gun tucking it away without the Fey woman noticing. She stands at his side directing him to lay down under one of the large trees. She stands close enough to help if he wants but doesn't touch him first. And since he doesn't want her help she doesn't touch him at all as he lays down under the tree watching Arty head off into the woods.

As Arty moves through the woods he should find it easier going. Like he has some sort of connection to the woods and they help him by showing him the best paths through. There is also the faint scent that Arty should assume is the Hind. He can tell if he is heading in the direction away or towards the Hind so it shouldn't be too hard to find it.

Should he follow these new odd senses he should come to a small clearing with tall grass and flowers growing in it. There stands the Hind munching on some of the grass. His golden coat catches the sunlight making him look like he is glowing. It lifts it's head and looks over towards Arty.

Arty grimaces for a moment as the deer reminds him that he hasn't eaten today. He was almost able to ignore that. Oh, well. Quest now, grazing later.
Arty makes a motion somewhere between a wave and a salute, before pulling out the item to be delivered and holding it out before him, not wanting to try approaching the creature himself.

[McBish]

Woods

The Hind looks over Arty and the flower in his hand. Somehow there is still dew drops on the flower like it was freshly picked in the morning. There is a playful look in the Hind's eyes and he dances in place a bit. Arty might remember the Fey woman's words. After you catch the hind he will eat the flower, catch not find. After a few seconds for Arty to get the message the Hind vaults off into the woods moving like a blur away from Arty.

Arty smirks. He'd thought that would be the challenge, but he thought it would have been rather rude to try and tackle the fellow before he'd established the game.
The flower is pocketed as Arty starts forward, quickly gaining momentum as his new perceptions give him the ability to approach a full gallop without worrying about smacking into a tree.

[McBish]

Woods

The Hind is incredibly fast and knows these woods like the back of his antlers. Still Arty is larger then the somewhat delicate looking golden hind. Rushing through the trees, leaping over streams and brooks. It has to be somewhat exhilarating chasing after the Hind. Occasionally small animals, rabbits and birds are surprised by Arty bursting through underbrush. They seem to move in slow motion compared to the quick pace the Hind has set. Their reactions slow, spotting the Centaur long after he sees them.

The chase lasts for a long time, twenty or thirty minutes at least. Arty gets close to the Hind a few times but it is extremely nimble and manages to avoid him at the last second.

Finally Arty catches a break as the Hind leaps over a downed tree landing in a patch of leaves that slip under his feet. He skids and falls rolling back up to his feet with a snort. It doesn't start to run again, apparently the chase is over.

Arty goes up to the Hind, bowing as respectfully as he can despite his heavy breathing. Then he presents the Gift again.

[McBish]

Woods

The Hind bows back, bending his front knees. It casually steps forward and carefully bites the flower out of Arty's hand. As he chews and swallows Arty's enhanced senses fade away. The hind leans forward to press his nose up against Arty's chest, and assuming Arty doesn't pull away he should feel his fatigue from the run drain away. His muscles should no longer ache and breathing should be easy again. With this last gesture the hind bounds off into the woods again vanishing from sight.

Arty watches it go for a moment before heading back. It's a good thing he has a good sense of direction, or he might have gotten lost in that chase. Well, a good sense of direction, a very good memory, and a compass.

[McBish]

Woods

When Arty returns to the hill he will find Calvin asleep under one of the trees. The little doe woman singing softly while she weaves a large cloak made of the leaves of the tree. The long stems of the leaves are twisted into interconnecting knots. Her small hands move quickly through the delicate work, already the cloak nearly covers Calvin. His ankles and feet all that is left. It even has a hood, which looks even more complicated then the knots of the cloak. Arty might feel like he got an easy favor for such a fine garment. It would have probably taken him hours to weave together something half as well made. The little doe gives no indication she sees Arty return, intent on her work.

Arty lets out a sigh and sits down. He'll take the time the fey needs to finish the cloak to munch on some supplies from his bag and some of the grass nearby, because magic deer or not, he's still hungry.

[McBish]

Woods

The doe finishes her song and the cloak at the same time. As she pulls the last string of knots tight a slight glow comes from the leaves. She lays it over Calvin as he continues to sleep. She smiles and moves over to where Arty is eating and resting. "Thank you for delivering my gift. Your friend's cloak is done." She sits down on the grass looking tired herself. "I wanted to let you know, it is good how you care for your friend."

Woods

Arty swallows his current mouthful.
"And thank you for finishing so fast. Well, I'm training to be a doctor, and I'd be a lousy one as well as a lousy friend if I let someone get into too much trouble on my watch. Or maybe it's the herd instincts. Honestly I don't think it matters much."

[McBish]

Woods

"Still it is commendable. Your friend is getting a cloak to protect him in return for his favor. I think it fair you get something as well." She reaches into the exposed roots of a nearby tree and pulls out a small pouch which she holds out for him to take.

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

"Oh, um, thank you. " Arty opens the pouch a bit to take a peek at the contents.

[McBish]

Woods

Half a dozen small seeds sit inside the pouch. "Plant those and care for them well. They will grow flowers that are bright orange. In ten generations of them the flower will grow a dark blue. Eating that flower will cure anything besides time." She explains to him.

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

Arty's eyes widen.
"Oh, my. That's...something. Thank you." Arty turns to look at Calvin.
"If it isn't impolite to ask, what did he help you with?"

[McBish]

Woods

"You are welcome. Take care of it and it will grow for dozens of cycles." She looks over at the sleeping teenager. "I asked him to plant a seed for me in a place that is special to him. From the seed one of my trees will grow. A fairly simple task in return for his life saved."

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

"You must really care for these trees," Arty says, gazing up at the leafy canopy.
"And your cloak has bought both all some time to rest, so thank you for that, too."

[McBish]

Woods

"They are my home and my family. I care for them and they for me." She smiles gently petting the tree cloest to her. "I am happy to spite those creatures that hunted you. They are foul and their disapointment is my joy."

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

"They certainly are.
Do you ever get lonely out here? Family or not, the trees and your friend the Hind don't seem particularly chatty." Arty asks.

[McBish]

Woods

The little woman nods slowly. "I have other friends as well. Sometimes I travel, but for the most part I just enjoy my time here. I do appreciate occasional company though, as long as their troubles don't follow them."

[Deathkeeper]

Woods

"Well, if I can remember my way back I'll come back and visit sometime, okay?" he says cheerily.
