The lean northman nods slowly.
"All right then. We'll be on our way. Thank hyu sir, for the loan of the items. We'll return with news that we have found sometime."

[Maryring]

"I apologize for not being of any more help." The old curator says as the three werewolves leave his room. On their way down, they bump into Nina and Varek, who are walking up towards the curator's room. Nina is carrying a bowl filled with hot soup. "Hey. Ye done speakin ta grandpa?" She asks as she pass them in the stair.

Yes, sighs Karl, I guess so. I don't suppose you might have any books or anything written by your parents? He said they knew a lot about Ami?

[Maryring]

"Books? Well... me father always had his manuscripts but... yeah. They ain't here. I dun think me mother wrote much." She ponders the question. "Well, I do still have me mother's notes, but I cannae let ye read em. What do ya want from em? I can check em for ye if ye'd like."

[Lycar]

Varek just listens for a moment. Then he offers "Want me to bring your grandpa the soup before it gets cold ?" to Nina.

Well, replies Karl, we found out that Ami travelled to some locations, that we have to find. But the descriptions are very vague. He starts to recite. "One is in the northern cold. One in the mountains of might. One in the deserts of scorching sand. One in the deep green forest. One in a home in the land of fields. One in the swamps of brutality. The final held in the deepest of darkness, where the darkness of death sleeps." I wanted to find out specific places she went to that might match any of these descriptions.

[Maryring]

"Dinnae worry 'bout dat." Nina says, smiling to Varek. "Well, I c'n look for ye." She turns to Karl. "Why don't ye come back later, and I'll tell ye what I've found out."

Karl nods. Very well. He turns to the others. Is that okay?

[Lycar]

Varek nods at Nina happily, then turns to Karl.

"Sure. After all, there is still something i need to take care of, remember ?"

Lisaa

Lisaa nods. "Yes. Until later then, Nina.", she says.

[Maryring]

"Later." Mia leads the group, including Mia, out of the building and waves goodbye at them, before she closes it, leaving them to accomplish their next task.

[Lycar]

After they get a bit of distance, Varek turns to Bronsk.

"Okay then. Explain me agin how that is supposed to work. The spirits you said you talked to protecting my gang i mean. What do we have to do ? How do we make a shrine ?"

"Iz simple." Bronsk dips a hand into a pouch at his belt and draws forth a small figurine carved from wood
"Something like thiz for each child. A crow or a wolf iz best, and it can be stone, metal, wood...whatever. The shrine iz further along; X'els and Takaya will be patient for that much."

[Lycar]

Varek gives Bronsk a worried look.

"Yeah but unless you actually teach my folks how to build a shrine, it is not going to build itself. Look, just tell them about whatever you came up with. I am sure they will be happy to pay some worship to your spirit friends in exchange for protection. But they need to know how to do it, ok ?"

Karl raises one eyebrow, and gives Varek an amused look, but says nothing.

Bronsk
Bronsk scratches his head.
"Well, okay. But iz not very difficult or formal. You make a table or a pile of rocks somewhere. in woods iz best, but on a roof or somewhere with fresh air iz fine too. The shrine can be wood or stone; but what iz important iz that it should be tended; maybe once, twice a week, it should be visited, kept clean...maybe add a painting or a carving or a candle or a ribbon, or a bell, or even a little food and water..." Bronsk counts these items on his fingers.
"And when hyu visit, thank Xe'ls and Takaya. Just say 'thank hyu, Xe'ls and Takaya, for watching over us,' and they'll listen."
The healer smiles. "They like it when hyu pay attention. So, tell them things, or ask questions. And a little flattery never hurts," he says, with a wink. "Those two like people, so they'll be easy to please."

[Lycar]

Varek listens to Bronsk, carefully remembering everything he says.

"I see... so.. basically treat them like good friends and show them that their efforts are appreciated, got that. He, i think that should be okay with the guys. We just have to tell them to treat them like a real person, just someone who happens to be not around unless you need him. But be nice to them and they will be nice to you."

He nods and smiles as they walk on.

"Heh, i have a good feeling about this. Come on, i'll show you the way."

Varek goes on to lead the way to his home turf.

Then, he adds as an afterthought "Oh yeah, which one is the wolf and which one is the crow ? Xels and Takaya i mean. Bet Takaya is the crow ?"

Bronsk shakes his head,
"No, its the other way forwards. Xe'ls is the crow."

As they walk, Karl looks around at the city, a slight grimace on his face.

[Maryring]

Varek leads the group deeper into the darker part of the city, the area being literally darker because of the higher density of buildings. The buildings tower much larger to accomodate more villagers in as less space. Eventually, he takes them to a group of old, abandoned buildings. In the middle of the buildings is a small open space, a garden of sort, except with barely anything growing there. Only a few tufts of grass here and there. The scuttling of light feet can be heard, and before the group can take more than a few steps into the open space, a rock comes flying from one of the windows. "Leave!" A voice, male, orders out loud.

Feel free to make a Sense Motive, Spot, Listen and a Diplomacy/Bluff check. Varek gets a +5 bonus on all those checks (except listen) for reasons I am sure you can figure out on your own.

Varek halts and peers out to see who's throwing rocks here.

"Boris, is that you ? It is I, Varek. Don't worry, these people are friends. No worries."

Karl squints at the darkness, and mutters something under his breath.

Despite their keen senses, Lisaa and Bronsk fail to see the one who assaulted them, nor did Karl. All of them hear the soft scuttling of light feet from the buildings around them, signifying that there are more than one child hidden here. "Varek?" The voice replies as a boy appears in one of the windows, almost hidden away by the shadows inside the building. Lisaa, Bronsk and Varek all spot him, though Karl can't tell him apart from the darkness, and thus can't spot him. "It is you. But why? What happened to you, you didn't catch up with us like you usually do, and why have you brought these adults here?"

[Lycar]

(So they didn't see what happened... thank you gracious gods !)

"He, i didn't catch up with you 'cause them guards caught up with me. And if it wasn't for my new friends here, i wouldn't be around anymore at all. So it's okay."

Varek fidgets a bit. "Look it is a bit... more complicated then that really. We need to talk about something. Yeah and this guy here " Varek indicates Bronsk "has a few things he needs to tell you too. If the other make you nervous, i'm sure they don't mind waiting outside, right ?"

Varek shoots Lisaa and Karl a glance. (I just hope they play along.)

The boy disappears from the window for a short while, and from where they are standing, the group can hear that they're obviously discussing the prospect of inviting adults in. Eventually, Boris returns in the window. "Okay, since it's you. You and that man can come, but the rest are staying outside, understand? And don't try anything."

Karl nods to Varek. Me and Lisaa will stay outside then.
