GameAgent currently has BioShock Infinite: Season Pass for 75% off, $5 USD, as well as all the BioShock Infinite & BioShock 2 (BioShock 1 is only 50% off though, dunno why). All of these are for a Steam key. The season pass has never been discounted this much, save for a glitch where it was improperly available at that price for a few minutes.

You have to register an account and log in to see the deal though.

Gamespy Shutting Down, Affecting A Reported 800 Developers And Publishers

Glu has announced that it will be shutting down all Gamespy services on May 31, 2014. This will affect every game that uses the service for matchmaking and hosting. Gamespy suggests that players should contact the developers and publishers of games using the services to find out what this means for affected titles. Nintendo used Gamespy for the DS and Wii, which explains why those services are scheduled to go offline on May 20.

Viscera Cleanup Detail on Steam looks like a interesting, and hilarious little 1 time joke. If it goes down to under a dollar and I'm really bored, I might get it for lulz. Otherwise, it was just a good little laugh seeing it.

There are some variants of it--I got the Shadow Warrior version free with my purchase of Shadow Warrior, so I'll probably give it a try later in the week to see if it's any fun.

I think most games have their own matchmaking built in nowadays. I doubt Gamespy was making enough money to continue to be viable.

Now I'm curious, how long did this fun last? Because from what I've heard it is great for a very limited amount of time, and then you are done with it. Something worth spending a buck on, but not much more.

I've watched several lets plays on Youtube and it looks to be... not much more than an hour.

Honestly I would just say watch the Game Grumps episode and you are pretty much done with the game.

I would say that the fun only lasts so long, but then you unlock things that make it more fun, and the fun may only last around an hour, but it resets every time you play because there are quite a few things to do and places to explore. It's not for everyone, but it is for some.

Is it just going to be the same as the other two games, though? They really need to play with the formula to stop it getting stale, and setting the new game in between the other two makes me worry that they might not do that!

A Borderlands game in the gap between 1 and 2, when Jack was still able to pass for a good guy? This is likely to be epic.

Well, BL1 and 2 were different enough that a lot people who hated the original loved the sequel, and we're getting a full array of new characters with a big part of the game going on in lunar gravity. I'm pretty sure it'll change things up enough.

That said, even if the gameplay was the same except for new characters, the only thing that would stop me from getting it is if they screw it up massively, which I'm not expecting.

Really? Everyone I know who plays the game (which I'll admit is not a statistically significant sample) thought 2 was too similar to 1; I myself thought 2 was more like a super-large DLC for 1 than a brand new game.

    They're different enough that I definitely wouldn't mistake 1 for 2.

In any case, I'm more interested in the choice of characters that were presented:

The Pre-Sequel introduces four new fighters: Athena The Gladiator, Wilheim The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer and Claptrap the Fragtrap. All four have made previous appearances in earlier Borderlands titles and expansions.
So now we get to play Athena AND Wilheim? Colour me interested.

Why does the Steam Family Share not include DLCs? It seems like it includes expansions to games you own if they're sold as separate blocks, but not if they're sold as DLCs.

The only problem with directly comparing the playtime of a game is that different games naturally have different playtimes. For instance, I completed Shadow Warrior in around 12 hours, according to Steam, and I had no particular desire to play through it again; however, a single playthrough of Skyrim would be a lot longer than that (I'm on about 200 hours for two completions). Does that mean Skyrim is several times better than Shadow Warrior? No, of course it doesn't.

(The uber-example of that would be Portal, of course, where a complete playthrough might be three hours, yet it's an awesome game).

No, it simply means that Skyrim has more playtime than Shadow Warrior. The easiest and most likely conclusion is that it's more popular than Shadow Warrior, but there's nothing to back that conclusion up beyond the number of sales and the amount of time played. If you wanted to find the most popular games, you'd probably do something completely different to what Arstechnica did.
