    Default Spoiler: Ashne=Wanda?

Am I the only one who notices a distinct similarity between our favorite croakamancer and Parson's gaming lady friend? The look a lot alike and appear to be the only sane ones in their respective worlds.

The realworld character who looks the most like a character in the game is Mr. "Dude, it's July". He's clearly Sizemore.

But yeah, Ashna is probably Wanda.

Yes, I had this thought too, actually. It's possible, I suppose.

It's quite possible, for all the stated reasons. But it is equally likely that you are looking for patterns and finding them. 18 is not the magic number, a little more time is need before such ideas can be supported.

I think similarities between "real world" characters and those inside Erfworld are only coincidental. I'm pretty sure individual people in Erfworld were beyond Parson's control; after all, the game hasn't been playtested yet even though the "good guys" have almost made it to Gobwin Knob.

I think once he imagined the setting, the characters formed spontaneously.

Scary but true fact of thinking anything. Writing it down is worse. I imagine if you created specific characters, they would be in it. However, most people assume there are unnamed people doing a lot of stuff. It would be hard to create each character, after all.

    So in conclusion: Yes.

Well, in most turn-based games, you can have "heroic" units that aren't actually commanders. Wesnoth is a prime example of this, especially since the main character is so whiny.

Though it would be possible for real-world actions to affect Erfworld, I think that RPGs lend themselves more towards that kind of interaction.

"...I worry that modern gaming is gradually shrinking the wide spectrum of gameplay mechanics into a single narrow red bar with "KILL" written on it sideways. Exploration, navigation, puzzles, platforming, all gradually shrinking away until only one thing remains, being taken by the hand from room to room, moving on only when nothing remains alive in each one." - Yhatzee Crosshaw

If they began as figments of his imagination, it makes sense that the Erfworld characters would resemble people in Parson's real life. As his life seems so closed and narrow, I can believe he'd use his RL friends as templates for these characters in his mind.

They may be beyond mere figments of the imagination now - but they still show the roots of beinf born from Parson's mind.

Or perhaps they look similar because they were drawn by the same person. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

But when you are thinking about cigars when looking at ashne and wanda, I would posit that cigars, in this instance, are not just cigars.

I pretty sure that they are both are related somehow, I think that they similarities are too much to be a coincidence. It is likely that others characters will be people that Parson knows.

Well, there is a bit f a link between the names.

    Wanda Firebaugh(Wand of fire-ball.)
Then we have Ashne... anyone else want to pursue this? I'm not into the whole speculation thing.

EDIT: I don't see muc simmilarity... Ashne is black, with brown eyes and hair. Wnada is white, Blue eyes, balck hair.

I mean, they're both skinny, but skinny chicks aren't that hard to find.

I think it's just the artists style.

It may be, but I don't think so. Parson created the world, but did not create the characters. At least he didn't said that.
