"For free, and off the top of my head? Almost your height, late forties to early fifties, a bit of a gut from ale. He used to hunt dragons and other big monsters professionally, and sometimes he still does, from what I hear. He had dozens of friends at many of the adventurers guilds around here 25 years ago - whether those adventurers are still around is another matter. As a marquess, he is responsible for raising an army in times of war, should the emperor request it. Cynegels hasn't, to my knowledge - he doesn't trust the nobles much - but it would surprise me if House Wren didn't have something resembling a standing army just in case. Oh, and he's a very distant cousin to the Duchess - eight or nine times removed, I think - but there's Sarza blood in the Wren family tree somewhere, and Lord Victor likes to throw that around if he thinks it's to his benefit."

Bela jumps slightly when he hears her voice, but calms down quickly when he realizes it's just Tass. I was able to make some preparations. Sorry to keep you waiting. How long have you been here? Figured I'd ask Enigma where you were if he was still up.

Enigma didn't have much to say, so a few hours. It seems the suspicions against Sarza are all Holtti's judgement. I find it curious that Enigma supports them without more substance behind.

Rasua's Temple

After the party finishes catching up with their wizard, you go to investigate Padrig's poison supplier and co-conspirators in Capel Kerig's temple to Rasua. Your directions point you to a lively gambling house on the south side of the city, by the name of "The Blind Eye". Through a window, you see wealthy (and formerly wealthy) people in various states of dress and disarray drinking, dancing, carousing, and carrying on around gamblers and musicians. Men and women (and a few you're not sure about) wearing plain grey robes seem to run the tables, and you espy several more in some of the dark corners, and by the doors.

The bouncer is a short woman smoking a pipe, and leaning on a hammer nearly as tall as she is. Short, stubby horns poke out from under her similarly short hair, and something in her vicinity smells vaguely of sulphur. She is practicing blowing smoke rings when you approach. "Oy, kids, cover's a tenner." She holds out her left hand, and you see Rasua's eye tattooed on her palm.

You're able to find a magical bouquet able to produce 10 bouquet-sized flower arrangements per day, which a "Melchior the Magnificent" offers to you for 150gp. Regardless of whether you buy it or not, he gives you a coupon (or rather, a pamphlet) for "low-cost solutions to dungeon problems" - it appears to be for members of the "Order of the Red Sea" adventurer's guild in Capel Kerig, to whom Melchior offers a hefty discount.

Alphonse looks around as they approach the gambling house, making sure to be wary of his money. "Ten eh? I don't suppose we can haggle?"

The bouncer blows a few more smoke rings above you, and mumbles around her pipe. "Peter Hook's band. Hook used to play with Jay Lennox and them - before their little 'accident'. Doubt he'll be playing for the prince again, but hey - free publicity."

She crosses her arms and glares at Niro - nearly tilting her head straight up to look him in the eyes. "Look, do we know ya? I don't cut breaks for just anybody, ya know. If you're just trying to haggle me 'cause ya can't pay, we don't wantcha here anyway."

Alphonse flashes the bouncer a smile. "Jay? I'm family of his, or was sadly. I imagine Peter may want family of a friend of his to see the show, wouldn't you?"

The bouncer takes your coin and puts it in a small pouch on her hip - which is brimming with silver. "Thank you." She waves Tass in.

Alphonse flashes the bouncer a smile. "Jay? I'm family of his, or was sadly. I imagine Peter may want family of a friend of his to see the show, wouldn't you?"

"Oh, alright." The woman knocks on the door, and another grey-garbed man pokes his head out. "Blondie here says he's a family friend of the band, and these other schumcks don't wanna pay. Can you check that out for me?"

"Do I need to stop the show?"

"Nah, if they were important, Gus would've said to bring 'em in. Have Hook vet 'em when ya get the chance, but it ain't no hurry. When they stop for drinks, maybe."

The man nods, and goes back inside. The bouncer leans back on her hammer, looks back at the party, and shrugs. "We'll see if your story checks out. Might be a little bit, though. Course, ya could always just pay - like I said, if ya can't afford a tenner, we probably don't wantcha anyway." She winks.

Alphonse gives her a pleasant smile and shrugs "It was worth a shot. Serves me right for using his death in that way. Here you are." he flips her a gold coin and walks in.
