If you do that, can I suggest we use a consistent name for the HPoH? So far, we've been writing "Durkon" with double quotes. In deference to #1030, we might want to write Durkon*, like SaintRidley did. I slightly prefer the latter, personally. But either way, it should be one and the same term across the summaries.

Also, I do rather prefer my version of #1029 to Gwynfrid's (sorry, Gwynfrid). Is having proposed an alternative enough to constitute a contest of the FCFS rule, or do I need to make it explicit?

I don't really like both proposals (and currently don't have a better one myself), but choosing between them, I would choose Gwynfrid's.

As an alternate proposition for 1029 - At this point spending from Durkon's resurrection fund is okay, it's like one random encounter's worth of savings.

I agree that the other options are less satisfactory.

As usual, I think brevity is an important factor, and it's OK to leave details out. Your proposal is longer than mine, but not horribly so. I could live with it, and I'm reluctant to call for a vote: If you feel strongly about it, I'd rather yield.

Sorry, but I rate this one unacceptably long. I believe a summary's value varies in inverse proportion to its word count.

Having multiple versions is enough by default as long as they both come in before I update the directory and you've had a chance to withdraw your suggestion but didn't. If at least two are proposed I usually just give the thread a week before I pick the one that has a clear consensus, or pick the first one if no one chimed in. If we have one that's close I'll do more formal voting, but we haven't really needed anything that rigorous yet - those rules are mostly there so I won't need to figure them out from scratch if we get into a real debate.

    I like Grey_Wolf's summary.

    EDIT: Also, for 1031, how about 1031 - O-Chul always wins in a Paladin-Off
Just because I personally thought that was the more memorable point of the strip.

Fine with the quote, but your link is for the wrong comic strip.

That's a good idea, but let me suggest we make it even more crisp :

My point is that if we include "Sonic Reptilian Unicorn" and "attack", it looks like a headline for a satirical article.

Which isn't horrible. I mean, you could also have "Attack of the Sonic Reptilian Unicorn" and have it sound like a monster movie while still being concise and not editorializing in ways we don't know are correct ("cowardly", "unprovoked") - we don't know those are even accurate yet.

And that's fine. We can be both brief and humorous. In fact, it's even better.

I agree with SaintRidley about not editorializing, too. By the way, "Attack of the Sonic Reptilian Unicorn" feels like the best proposal so far.

All right, finally got around to chunking up the Book 6 bits so far as well. I'll flip through Book 5 at some point to edit to the "official" rounds as well - I feel like some of them were a bit longer than I'd like for a good delineation point, but we'll see.
