Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
It depends. Plot wise you only have to kill about three but tbh if you're playing Skyrim for plot you picked the wrong game. As random encounters go they add a touch of danger the first few times, but you will end up killing lots to get access to the different words of shouts. If you make full use of fast travel, it is entirely possible to encounter none at all but on my main playthrough I think I'm on something like eighty dragons killed, judging by the amount of dragon bones I have in a chest in Whiterun. This is playing casually with no dragon hunting, because if you want to do that, you will easily treble that number. Of course, given that I play an unpatched version it does give the nice feature of dragon corpses randomly dropping from the sky but I didn't think it fit to count them.

Steelport is pretty much a ready-made Chancel. And 3rd ed calls Domain-0 Nobles Saints. I'm just sayin'.
Also, this one's been waiting to be made ever since those liches pictures earlier.
I regret nothing.

Here's one I found on Reddit. I'll try to make some original ones soon, once I find some decent pics and can think of witty things to add to them.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
Fair I guess. Although with skyrim, theres the 15 named dragons, most of which you have to kill to progress, 10 at specific points around the game world, plus a theoretically-infinite number of them due to random dragon attacks.
...Although now I want to know which dragons would win in a fight. Skyrim dragons have glass jaws, sure, but they also have freaky magic bullcrap and possibly a high flight ceiling on their side...

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
I would tend to side with the Skyrim dragons, by virtue of being sapient. Monster Hunter dragons (or wyverns in general) always seemed kinda like wild animals to me. Mind you, I've only played MHFU, so there's that.
In any case, Skyrim wishes it had Monster Hunter's armor system. Or I do, anyway. Heck, I wish every game had Monster Hunter's armor system.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
It's possible to get through all but the main and DLC quests of Skyrim without fighting even a single dragon. You just have to not follow the main quest beyond Whiterun, and there aren't even any random encounter dragons to worry about from then on. On the opposite end of things, following the main quest unlocks random dragon encounters, which happen about once per half hour and have about a 75% chance of going after you (the other 25%, they just fly away or aggro a random goat/mudcrab/wolf with hilarious results). With fast travel and a bit of know-how, it's possible to farm dragons nonstop by going to Word Walls in a cycle, killing the resident dragon, and repeating; thanks to fast travel taking in-game time, by the time you've cleared them all the first one has respawned. That said, a normal Dragonborn who goes from level 1 to about level 40 or so without deliberately taking one extreme or the other in dragon hunting probably won't end up fighting more than about 50 dragons over the course of his career, and likely quite a few less.
As for meaner, I haven't played Monster Hunter but the top-tier dragons are nuts. Dirt standard dragons sometimes lose fights with other random encounters, though, so take that with a grain of salt.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
The best moment in Skyrim is when you see a dragon get pulled down by swarms of mudcrabs. The number of times these supposedly ferocious predators fall prey to the most mundane threats is hilarious.

Usually, I'm posting demotivators, but ones unrelated to D&D.
This time, I'm posting a funny thing related to D&D... but it's not a demotivator! (It's a comic I found on another forum.)

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VIII: [Demotivating Intensifies]
Actually, it turns out they're aberrations rather than animals like I thought, so that'd be a no-no. Although now I'm tempted to make them normal animals in one of my settings just to be able to do that

I believe grappling hook launchers can be found in the Arms and Equipment guide, and powered spools for superdurable line in Savage Species. From there, tack on a Bottle of Endless Air for guidance, two Gauntlets of Infinite Blades, find a tolerant DM and have at it!

My work is done here.
Also agreed! And I did find a homebrew feat called Druid of the Strange which allows aberration companions (including rust monsters). Not strictly rules-legal, but seems balanced enough?
...Somebody run this game? Please?
(On which note: Academy City looks very cool; I still haven't seen the first series, but Railgun was a lot of fun. I'd have to give my available time some consideration before considering signing up, but yeah. )
