IIRC, she works at a convenience store. Those typically have heating elements (that's where those mummified hotdogs are kept warmish), cleaning supplies, and all forms of sticky substances from syrups to candies to oils and various other car supplies.

Pancakes are delicious. Who doesn't like pancakes? (this is the first time I realize "pancake" and the German "Pfannkuchen" are literal translations of one another... I'm slow sometimes.)
So... Marten needs to "process this" means he must angst over it for a week or two, right?

Pancakes slathered in butter and syrup are a comfort food and also a breakfast food. So that's two reasons I can think of off of the top of my head to want them just waking up after a night of drinking and almost drunk-sexing.

Technically, it doesn't mean he has a crush.

It just means he realizes what he did during his drunkness. He maybe be pondering if she would take wrong. Or whether he has subconscious feelings that were unleashes in his drunkness.

Pancakes fill you up, and they dont tend to upset a possibly feeble stomach from a night of drinking. Plus they are tasty and easy to make/get.
